View Full Version : Yazoo's painting and (very modest) sculpting log

Hello and welcome

I've been spending a fair amount of time here on Warseer's project logs so I figured it was about time to start my own.

In time I hope to add more pictures of my growing Steel Legion army as well as various small projects I may be working on, including my attempts to learn how to sculpt.

On to the pics....

This is my latest model and i consider it my best one so far. The reason I posted this one is that I've decided to set this one as my "ideal" and my goal isto be able to paint better then this one in a not to distant future.
Anyway I'm very happy with it and even though some parts of it may be lacking (black areas in particular) I still think it looks good as a whole.

Next model I'm working on is this Ork Warboss

All C&C is welcome

Sorry if some of the pics appear a bit out of focus, seemed to happen when I resized them. I'll take a look at it until next update.

I'd really love to see some detail shots of the farseer. He's done very well from what I can see.

The ork is coming along nicely as well. I like that he's done so cleanly so far. I'm a big 2nd Ed ork fan (thems were the days!), even though I didn't play em!

Thanks for your comments

Here comes a few more pics of the farseer as requested and also some more pics covering the progress of my boss.

I hope these will do, I'm still struggling to take good close ups without losing focus so this is as good (and close) as it gets for now I guess.

I tried to give his skin a more realistic as well as dark appearence so I kept myself to Orkhide shade (GW foundation) with increased amounts of bleached bone added to it for highlights. I'm pleased with the result as it came out quite close to how I imagined it would be. His pink tongue was especially fun to paint, I rarely get an opportunity to paint (and mix) pink. guess I'll have to find me a model where i can try it out on a larger scale.

I'm sorry if you feel the pics are a little small but I uploaded them in a too small format so if I'd increase their size they get all hazy. I'll try to get it right next time.

Up next I'll try to get some pics taken on my sculpting attempts.

You certainly have some painting skills, I can tell you! Very clean paintjobs, and the Ork's skin tone is well-executed too.

Very very awesome dude, love how youve painted the ork!

Thanks once again for all your kind comments, it really gets me inspired to finish my models.

Speaking of which, just finished my boss, let me know what you think.

Comin at ya!!

I'll have to say I'm quite satisfied with how he turned out, since I didn't spent as much time and energy on him as I thought I would when I started. The skin in particular I think could benefit from an extra layer of paint. It looks a bit flat in some areas, the arms for example.

Up next is this little fellow...

I'll try to paint his hair in a similar way to the squig with some added light brown/khaki as a final highlight, I'm curious to see how it turns out.

On a side note, has anyone on here had a chance to skimp through Foundrys painting guide. I got an offer to buy one pretty cheap (10 quid), is it worth the money or should I wait for GW's?

As promised, a couple of photos of my attempt at sculpting. Please keep in mind this is my first ever attempt at sculpting something from scratch.

Its only WIP but I think you can still get a pretty good idea of how I want it too look eventually (alot more GS and a battered helmet is left to do)

The pose of the model is the only thing that I can say I'm satisfied with.

C&C is very much welcome, I feel I'm gonna need all the help I can get with this one.
