Hello all,

I am nicking Hespithes' idea, because it was such a good one. I thought that this would be a nice idea for where all the Chaos (Chaos Space Marines, Warriors of Chaos, Chaos Daemons, Daemons of Chaos, Beasts of Chaos, LatD, Traitor Guard) players of all systems can put their work for all the 12 months.

To get the ball rolling i am doing: Chaos Space Marines and Warriors of Chaos. I have had both of these armies for a while, so it is about time i finished them both.

This is where my CSM force is at the moment:

I want to add some more to this force to make it a little bigger for Apocalypse purposes.

So, here are the bits i am doing this month!

Chaos Knights which are been currently stripped!

Test Plague Marine for the squad.

Lets see what everyone else is doing then!

Good idea Death Korp, all this Chaotic goodness will serve as great inspiration indeed! I like your warband, it's getting rather large now.

What I'm up to:

The first of fourteen Plaguebearers. For those wanting to see the original thread, click here! (http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2809817#post2809817)

As a query, who else is doing Nurgle Daemons?

01-08-2008, 12:20
Nice one, I'm in.

I'm doing Daemons for 40K, this months work will be a unit of ten Plaguebearers and one Nurgle herald.

@ Mr Feral: What miniature is that herald of yours? Good painting so far. :)

Mr Feral
01-08-2008, 12:25
It's just a lowly Plaguebearer, converted extensively from the Bloodletters kit. It'll be interesting to see how you do yours, I'm yet to think of ideas for a Herald ;)

01-08-2008, 12:36
I'm currently rebuilding my EC chaos marines, starting with a Forgeworld dreadnought. I'm also tidying up the older stuff. The link is in my sig.

A question for the OP. Should we just link our blogs or post pictures here as well?

For the moment I have a question about a particular model I'd like to ask. Should this guy have his head replaced by something more marine like? He's not a champion or anything by the way so he might also have to lose the backpack.

Mr Feral
01-08-2008, 12:41
Personally I think the whole model is great!

If I may say so, the base could do with something extra though.

01-08-2008, 13:53
Cheers! The bases for the whole army will get more stuff on once all the models are painted. I think if I do it on a model by model basis I might go a bit overboard and I want to keep them quite minimal.

@Mr Feral: Looking good matey! I've used thaat pic so many times now, its getting annoying :D
@Tortoise: Put everyting here mate! We want every Chaos player to help each other out, and its all in one place too.

01-08-2008, 16:33
Hey Death Korp do you mind if I posy my chaos dwarf stuff here?

Magos Explorator
01-08-2008, 16:53
Very nice stuff. :) One of the things I'm doing for the Tale is the 40k Daemon spearhead--think the first month is going to be doing the Beast of Nurgle (I have 3 other armies to paint too, though!).

Death Korp
01-08-2008, 18:35
Dino, Chaos Dwarves are allowed, they're Chaos!!!! :D

Magos, thats alot of stuf you are doing!

01-08-2008, 18:54
Thx Death Korp:D

Here's soem of my stuff so far.
5 chaos dwarf warriors
And a lore of metal sorcerer

I'm gonna do one more warrior then i'll be done for the month. Here's a seek peak for next month.

@ Mr Feral: Nice plague bearer. A whole unit of them is gonna look sweet. Good luck.

@ tortoise: That is the best looking chaos marine i've ever seen. Now I have to see what a whole army of them looks like.

01-08-2008, 19:50
Dino- thank you, I have a small unit done the same, I'll post pics of everything I've got soon, probably on Sunday when I have a chance to properly set the camera up. I'll put the pics here and in my EC log as well.

By the way, those chaos dwarfs are sweet. Do i see marauder arms and chaos warrior heads on dwarf bodies? I would never have thought such a combination would work but it really does.

These are the first logs I've done and I'm quite surprised at how motivational they are. Good stuff.

01-08-2008, 21:26
Newly built EC marines.

Trying to scuplt EC style heads. I want each marine to look like an individual so i don't want to use the same head twice throughout the whole force. It's a slow process though. Apert from the head on the central marine all the other attempts haven't looked all that Slaaneshi.

The 2 on the left still need plumes for their helmets as well.

Death Korp
01-08-2008, 21:43
@Dino, nice work on the Chaos Dwarves, they look sweet as :)

@Tortoise: Those EC are looking suitably slanneshi, i amy have to steal the idea.. :D

01-08-2008, 22:50
Here's my initial post. I'll be doing a themed Chaos army, and I have a thread over in Fantasy detailing it. Basically, the army represents cultists uprising in a city of the Empire.

One of my two marauder blocks will be cultists, and the other will be "fallen" nobles. I've done two test paints, funnily enough for the noble block which is not the first 200pts.

I'm doing my test cultist mini tonight, and then getting stuck right in. As you can see I'm using mordheim cultists and modified battle pilgrims for the unit.

01-08-2008, 23:30
The fallen noble looks weird in my opinion. It's like he's completely lost his taste in clothing after he has fallen ; ) No offense meant.

But the cultists look great! I am so looking forward to seeing that unit painted.

01-08-2008, 23:32
Hey all, I am doing the tale of 40k painters and one of my armies is chaos daemons (1500 points), if you could handle a large pack of rampaging daemons around here, toss me onto the list.

01-08-2008, 23:40

Well, it is a Slaaneshi cult, and something about the guys in tights and hats, shirtless with leather straps made me laugh.

I decided to have them in Empire uniform, but as if they just stripped down to show their true allegiance and began pillaging in the streets. The pink feather will be carried throughout the unit as a symbol of their god.

02-08-2008, 08:34
I'm going to be doing Epic: Armageddon Lost and the Damned army. I'll probably post more detailed stuff into the thread proper, but here's some work that I did earlier. My converted (yes, people do conversion at 6mm as well) examples of Big Mutant stands.

Mr Feral
02-08-2008, 08:48
Dino, great job on the Chaos Dwarfs! The one aspiring to be Ghostrider is a particular favorite :p.

odmiller, I like the idea and the use of Mordheim Cultist models is great!

tortoise, wonderful posing on the Emperor's Children. :D

Hena, converted Epic makes me happy. :)

ps. Death Korp, you forgot me on the 40K list in your first post. I'm down for 1000 points of Daemons so you know.

02-08-2008, 18:59
Here's a terrible picture of the other marrauder, but I can't be bothered to take another. Trust me, it actually looks good in person. This is a sample female noble cultist for the mixed block.

Anyway, these guys are now retired while I jump into the true cultists.

02-08-2008, 19:26
Here is just a quick pick of the last Chaos dwarf warrior i'm painting up this month before paint gets on it.
I'll be painting him very slowly as I have other things i'll be working on this month.

02-08-2008, 20:56
Well my dark brethren those are great great both on converting and painting field. Here are my first 13 warriors

Those were taken by phone cam so sorry for pics quality

02-08-2008, 21:23
I really don't see what your complaining about. You may have only converted 13 chaos warriors but they look awsome. I expecially like the one with both of his hands resting on top eachother holding his club? He's number three from the right in the back.

03-08-2008, 01:58
Man! I don't think I've ever seen such 'motion' in chaos models, Tortoise. Very cool. The problem I'm having is that the other pics thus far look even cooler, lol. Very well done, all.

04-08-2008, 09:34
Well, i'm G.hawke (duh >.<) and i'm one of your 40k chaos bunch.

So far all i've managed is this dreadnought conversion:

But, here are a unit i'm startin work on, plague marines, IW style:

hope to put some latd up soon

Death Korp
08-08-2008, 14:16
Pretty good stuff everyone, i like the Iron Warrior Dread Hawke. And the converted Warriors are fantastic Riek!

I have been away for 4 days camping, so no progress for me. Also, i have no black spray which is NOT good. I may go and get some tommorow to make a start...

10-08-2008, 13:03
Not the best pic in the world.

But this is Lukan the Ironboar - Leader of my less nurglified chaos forces!

Curently uploading Death Guard and more Traitorguard so expect more pics soon.

14-08-2008, 21:09
Finished my dreadnought and finally managed to upload pictures. This would have been sooner but my connection is kind of playing up at the moment.

I think it turned out OK in the end although the marble effect is kind of lost (and the photos don't exactly help either).

I think maybe some more weathering might be in order, but its basically done.

I also got another EC marine box and ordered 2 bitz packs of sonic weapons so I should have enough parts now to finish up all my infantry.

Mr Feral
16-08-2008, 18:41
Excellent work so far everyone, especially your EC Dreadnaught tortoise! :D

As for me, this wasn't originally planned for this month's painting quota but I finished my Nurgle Herald anyway:

I better finish the first unit of Plaguebearers soon, before my order of Epic Chaos comes through the door and consumes all my painting time ;). I'm about to re-kick off my Badab project next week so you might want to watch out for that one (since we all like a bit of the Chaotic here). yes, that was a shameless plug.

Mr Feral
22-08-2008, 12:21
Me again (where is everyone?)

A PIP of the Plaguebearer champion:

I much prefer this colour scheme to it's previous one.

Lots of Chaos!

I'm also been writing up a tutorial on how to convert the Plaguebearers, so if anyone's interested in seeing it then give my Daemons log a look! (link in sig)

22-08-2008, 12:52
Really looking forward to that tutorial :)

22-08-2008, 12:59
I'm using Joker for first month. I have to finish my Ferals first before I'm taking this on.

Mr Feral
22-08-2008, 13:01
claudiomarino, the first part can be found here (http://warseer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2886413&postcount=47). :)

Hena, I look forward to seeing your LatD next month then!

28-08-2008, 20:47
As its a bit quiet around here I thought I'd add to the thread.

Mr Feral I really like your Plaguebearers. If I didn't already have so many of the metal ones I'd have a go at them.

There is a PIP of some of said Plaguebearers. Just a taster really as I'm working on a big lot of them. I'm uping my pts to 2k (from 1500) but I'm going to play a joker this time and post 400pts worth the next month when I've finished them all. Anyway more WIP on my Daemons log.

PIP Plaguebearers -

Looks like this thread is going nurgle (nice stuff btw guys keep it up!), so i'm going to save it by the whims of Slannesh!

I think i am going to do a Slanneshi army for the ToFPs, as i have always been a slanneshi follower in WFB! But, i will add some units from the other gods to as time goes by, i want to finish as much of this army as i can in this period!

02-09-2008, 00:54
More daemons! I signed up for TOP as a 40k daemon player. I'm going to be using them for fantasy and 40k but yeah for now they'll be grouped under 40k (I don't think my names on the list). Everyone loves pictures so let me post a few...

Skulltaker (who wiffed bigtime in the game I used him in today)

Your favorite gross troops choice PB's

A closeup on the uglyness!

PS pb's bases are black now. I just haven't taken photos since then.

02-09-2008, 00:58
I apologize for crappy pictures, i'm getting used to a new camera... but here's some more pics...

Nurglings, not quite based yet. GUO I need to redo his sword. I fixed his chains but his swords really bugging me, also his base has been painted black since then too.

GUO (note the wash wasn't quite dry but a friend was bugging me for pics)

Open to suggestions for the sword. I was thinking almost a stone type? but I'm not sure let me know what you think, and good job with the chaos guys. (I also have a CSM and WoC army too so Keep the work up!)

Math Mathonwy

A brilliant idea this thread! The main ToFP thread is almost intimidating in it's grandeur, so it's nice to have a small corner where to focus one's commenting.

tortoise, I'm really, really liking the helmet on that middle dude. Very Slaaneshi, but still very Space Marine. Reminds me a bit of the heads of the Riding Beasts. Long tongues might be an idea for some heads in the future?

As for the Dreadnought, holy crap that is awesome! The colour scheme is downright incredible. How did you do the marble effect if I may ask? Also, I'm enamoured by the way you painted the Slaanesh symbol - very alive.

odmiller, really interesting basing - how did you go about it? As for the lips on the female model, I usually do red lips with just a slash of red ink to the part where the lips meet. I feel that reddening the whole lips makes them look somehow unnatural. Of course, in the case of Chaos, that might not be a bad thing.

Reik, those Chaos Warriors look extremely good. Even the old-style Chaos Warriors look great there. And the chaos star chain weapon is sheer brilliance.

G. Hawke, that Plaguemarine is very characterful. The stripy painting style fits the model very well and that chain saw arm is downright nasty looking (in a good way)!

Here's some of my test Daemons:

What do you think?

05-09-2008, 23:34
Math- there's a marble tutorial in the link in my sig. Thanks for the comments, glad you liked the dread.

Those daemons are looking pretty sweet, especially the daemonette.

I've finished a few marines. More to come soon(ish)

There are 2 colour schemes. Pink dudes just have an icon of Slaanesh, blue dudes are noise marines.

Hope you enjoy them. I've left the backpacks metal for the moment. I think when I've fully painted the army I'll put some of the main body colour onto the backpacks too. I haven't done it yet because painting backpacks is such a chore I'd rather do the whole lot in one go.

06-09-2008, 06:14
@Math Mathonwy I love the color schemes, the guts on the PB's awesome, and the colors on the daemonette is fantastic!

@tortoise WOW. best painting I've seen in a long time (if not the best ever!) they look amazing, I'm definately subscribing to your blog keep up the good work! Really great work on the icons on the heads/shoulder pads!

22-09-2008, 07:51
Alrighty guys, it's been 3 weeks someone must have painted something chaosy!?! I was working on some Blood letters and PB command also assembled my soulgrinder (will be testing it out later today) but lets see whats been on the workbench guys!

22-09-2008, 12:31
Hey look a thread for our chaosy stuff .... I totally missed this :)

I will try and get pics up of my as yet unseen month 1 work and my month 2 work this weekend.

Good work all,

22-09-2008, 12:43
I've joined you from across the desert, so here's my WIP for this month:

More pics on my log :)

22-09-2008, 12:46
For details concerning painting and conversions, either look at the To40KP plog, or at my own (the link for the latter is in my sig).

I'm doing Daemons for the Tale, and last months work where a Herald, some Plaguebearers, and some Nurglings:

This month I'll bring the Plaguebearers to ten "men", and build a Nurgle Soulgrinder.

Mr Feral
22-09-2008, 12:59
I'm still finishing of the Green Stuff on my Plaguebearers (I know, slow progress) but that should be done soon and ready for painting. :)

27-09-2008, 13:18
Hi Guys,

I've been working on Plaguebearers as well. Here is a PIP shot for you. More in my Daemons log.

27-09-2008, 16:17
I love it all. your plague bearers are awesome, I like the ones made from blood letters. Keep up the good work.

27-09-2008, 16:36
Hell , it seems that I´m not the only one working on his ´Grinder;)

and the little dancer

04-10-2008, 15:48
A PIP (well sort of) update this time. I've done a test Bloodletter.

This guy was undercoated black, base coated with Charadon Granite then washed red. Then drybrushed Scab Red, then Blood Red and a very selective Blazing Orange. For further details see my daemons log. I'm not completely convinced by the sword blade but I'm happy with the rest. I think they will fit in with the Plaguebearers nicely.

So here is a pic (not the greatest to be fair but ok for PIP) -

17-10-2008, 15:17
Come on chaos people!

Marauder WIP:

Some close-ups on my log :)

17-10-2008, 16:23
KoS PIP :)
