View Full Version : A Malenky log of wonder

05-08-2008, 15:59
Well, I'm new to warseer and i thought that i would start a log to get motivation to finish
some of the armies I've collected. And I'll try to have weekly updates

I'm currently working on the Nurgle & Khorne daemons and Deathskulls space orks.

Well here's some of the daemons. Oh and if anyone have any ideas about the GUO's tentacles
i would appreciate any suggestions about what to do, I'm not pleased with the color.
C&C would be appreciated

and some PIP Plaguebearers

05-08-2008, 19:02
And some Orks.

My WIP Biker Boss

PIP of my ork boys (all orks have a back plate with unit specific markings on them).

and a PIP of my looted wagon

05-08-2008, 19:24
not too shabby there mate.

For the plague bearers I'd advise a wash with one of the new brown inks, just to make them look that bit more gribbly. With the tenticles I think the only problem is that they're too neat, and should be 'grousomed' up a bit with some brown, green and yellow washes.

Also, did you make the little flagbearer yourself or buy him somewhere, because he is AWSOME and doesn't look like one of the GW ones

07-08-2008, 23:57
@ eyeolas: Thanks. The flagbearer thingy is a stock gw nurgling with greenstuffed hands and bits of a plague monk banner with some more green stuff.
As fore the plaguebearers, i think i will add another color to the green ones, but the blue ones I'm happy with.

Got an update full of orks, and big plans for the daemons.

Lets start with some Kans

and continue with some pip gretchins and a wip runtherder.

Then my Finished Looted wagon.

Oh, and started building another looted wagon. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f170/Malenky_malchick/Space%20Orks/2loot1.jpg

12-08-2008, 15:25
I thought I'd put up some pip shoots of my warboss bike.

What do you think, is it to blue? It may be hard to tell with nothing done on it
excepted the beginning of the blue, but still. I would like some input.

Don't worry, the terminator will get some battle damage.

13-08-2008, 10:52
Looted wagon looks awesome cant wait too see the rest of the army when its all done.

Chaos Dude
13-08-2008, 11:23
I think the daemons looks good, the GUO looks really daemonic with the tentacles and the big grinning mouth on his chest. Also I like the Orks to, the blue looks really well. I liked the bike too, the space marines thinks terminator armor is so mighty and then Orks use it as an engine for their bike. I found that thought really amusing, the blue looks pretty well on the bike to. Don't think it's to much of it at all. :)
The kanz looks pretty good to, everytime I see kanz I feel like buying some for my boyz. ;)

13-08-2008, 12:02
Haha, completely in love with the 'alternative' energy-source for the bike!

When out of gas, go thermo-nuclear!

13-08-2008, 16:59
Thanks for the comments.

@ unwanted:Its cheap fuel to (if you can loot one), plus it acts as a trophy rack.

@ Chaos Dude: I say, buy some Kanz. There great! :D

This is how a spent parts of the day. I need to remove the checkered pattern,
add some more battle damage then some touch ups and final highlights
and i think I'm done with the bike. What do you think?

Oh, i thought a I'd put up a picture of my WIP Lootas.

13-08-2008, 19:41
consider that idea stolen!

13-08-2008, 19:55
@ cheaky: OK. Just out of curiosity, what idea would that be?

15-08-2008, 08:59
So, I finished the bike! Maybe a quick once over when the warboss is finished.

Well, on to paint the warboss. :)

15-08-2008, 20:21
Lol, I love that terminator-bike. Really nice one. You other stuff is good aswell, but the bike is just ace. Can't wait to see what you come up with next :)

16-08-2008, 09:35
@ ReaperOfSouls:Thanks, :) and i was working on the Warboss but...

I need help.
Don't know what to do with the gob... should i leave it as it is, maybe some battle damage.
Checkers on the lower part of the gob perhaps or should i paint it to look like the gob was made from piece of a tank?
what are your suggestions? Anybody i need a little help.

16-08-2008, 09:40
try writing the word 'BOO' on the gob for comic relief.

25-08-2008, 08:06
@ D35t0y3r: Thanks for your suggestion but that's not the feel of the army.

I thought that i should updated.
This time it's something different as i haven made any significant progress on the biker boss
because I'm stuck on the gob.
So i started painting on some of my chaos warriors and thought I'd show you.

Undivided chaos knights with exalted champion

Khorne chaos knights with exalted champion
Exalted champion of tzeentch

25-08-2008, 08:13
I also had an idea for my chaos furies.
I thought that I'd paint them like my old exalted daemon but with fur like my minotaurs.
I will be using the current furie minis maybe with newly sculpted ears and horns or the fur would probably hide them.

What do you think? would it work?

Oh, and i will try to finish some more orks or daemons so i don't get to distracted.

25-08-2008, 18:35
some brilliant models you've painted up there.

have to say the fur on the minotaurs is pure genious!

31-08-2008, 20:36
@ Filie: thank you, but the fur wasn't my idea, I looted it from GD winner Jakob Rune Nielsen. :)

Finished the Biker boss. Before i seal the boss, have anybody any suggestions on improving him?

I will also try to get some pictures of some other figures I've painted tomorrow.

02-09-2008, 09:33
I present the start of my small dwarven army.
The Daemons will be put on hold until after the dwarfs or the space orks a finished.

start of a Hammerer unit.

Adeptus Mechanicus
05-09-2008, 23:14
There is a lot of awesome stuff going on in this thread and I am not at least surprised. I've seen your models first hand so I should know, right? How many projects do you have up and running now? Orks, Dwarfs, Chaos Mortals, Chaos Daemons and Imp. Guard? Lookin' ace either way. Place your scrawny ass in fron of MSN from time to time, even you need a pause from painting ^^

07-09-2008, 14:39
@ Adeptus Mechanicus: Thank you.
Well i have the space orks, 5Ed inspire Dwarfs, Chaos Mortals, Chaos Daemons,
several different units of Imperial Guard, some blood angels i work on from time to time,
Tomb kings that i should finish some day, my orcs & goblins that i have to re paint,
half a black legion army left to paint and 14 archers and some movement trays for my empire.
Oh, and some eldar figures left to paint. I really want to start a small skaven army to.
I will try to log on to msn, but between the sculpting, painting and real life, its hard to find the time.

Anyway, this is my almost finished dwarven battle standard bearer.

And a WIP nob.

Adeptus Mechanicus
07-09-2008, 22:17
Might want you to trash a looted wagon Bad Moon style! Needless to say, my list grew to 3000 (so I can change stuff around) and it feels solid and probably a blast to paint! SMS or MSN when you have the chance mate.

08-09-2008, 00:03
Cool stuff!

16-09-2008, 08:09
Thanks for the comments.

Not much of an update. But, i did some additionell work on my biker boss and the nob.
worked on the dwarves, but pictures of the dwarves will have to wait a little bit.

Anyway, the improved biker boss.

WIP nob.

02-10-2008, 10:55
I started work on a Buggie, also started on a prototype for my 'ard boys. Still a bit to go on both models.

I'll continue working on the buggie and post a picture of it when its done.

Anyway. Any comments, tips or suggestions on how to build a better buggie would be appreciated.

Oh, forgot about the nob, he's finished. Well, as finished as i can make him until i have primed the him. When that's done and I've painted the fist, I'll finish the shoulder.

02-10-2008, 11:58
Chaos, Orks, awesome models - three things I'm in love with, three things this log has. Great stuff man!

Edit: And Dwarfs too! Number for on my favourites list. Like this log was done for me. :)

02-10-2008, 16:00
The orks are great. I really like the vehicles especially.

In fact the painting in general is of a tremendously high standard.

02-10-2008, 19:12
That buggie looks great.

Making a unit of ard boyz like that will take forever though... good thing you obviously love converting ; )

03-10-2008, 10:31
Thanks for all the comments.

@ Darnok: Maybe i made this log with you in mind, without knowing it?

@ tortoise: Thank you. I will try to keep it up. :)

@ Malorian: I don't think they will take to long to construct. I made the prototype relatively fast, and when I'm working on five at a time it will hopefully not take too long... The Nob however. :(

While the gs was curing on the first buggie i started to work on a second one. So, here's a picture of it.
When I've done some more sculpting on it, I'll glue the thing together and much of the big gap will disappear.

06-10-2008, 14:08
I did some more work on the second buggie, and here it is.

I'll continue working on the buggies and the next time you see them they will have some paint on them.

That doesn't mean that i will not listen to suggestions. Just, no more photos of them until they finished.

07-10-2008, 15:05
I thought that i would show you all something with new paint on it, It's been a while.

So i present my pip big mek.

Well, now its time to put on the finishing touches to the buggies, then slab some more paint on the mek.

08-10-2008, 14:26
Earlier today i primed the buggies and will start painting them tomorrow. Pictures will follow.

I think I'm done with the mek, now all i have to do is finish the KFF.

10-10-2008, 12:10
I think I'm done with the big mek for the time being, There are some parts that i don't like and will probably repaint later but not now. I have a Ork army to paint! :D

The buggies are coming along nicely and i will be posting some pictures of there progress any day now.

Well, back to work. Those buggies won't paint themselves.

The Occult
10-10-2008, 17:59
Those buggie conversions are really original. I love it! I can't wait to see them painted!
The mek is pretty sweet too, but his skin seems a little flat. Perhaps it is just the photography and lighting.

11-10-2008, 00:23
Man you're churning out these models like there's no tomorrow...

I gotta say I like all the stuff you've posted so far but I'm very interested in the Imperial Guards and the Ork project.

11-10-2008, 04:25
I love the converted Ork Nob. Very reminiscent of the old Catachan Captain model.

The first buggy is also very cool. *makes notes for future projects*

11-10-2008, 10:31
Lovely chaos models, I like the subtle conversions and that you gave drums to your knights (just like I did in fact, and probably for the same reason, how do you blow a horn with a full helmet on? :wtf: ). Nice dwarves and daemons as well. :)

11-10-2008, 16:30
great stuff, awesome sculpting and some fine and speedy painting. Surprised there isn't more praise for your work.

11-10-2008, 19:19
Very nice work, especially the mohawks on the orks - they fit right in! :)
The painting is good too, very nice skin on those orks.

13-10-2008, 14:10
Thank you for all the comments. :D I was starting to feel like i was posting to myself.

@ The Occult: Yeah, I haven't been able to get a decent photo of him, it's like he doesn't like my camera at all. I will try again, and post a better picture. If i can get one.

@ MF3000: I'm sorry to say that my orks have looted almost everything from my IG, so the army is a shadow of their former selves. But one day they will rise again!

@ Catferret: Thank you, he's ment to look like something out of 2Ed, but with a modern feel.

@ mrtn: You hold the horn out when you ride and let the wind blow it? It was that, and you couldn't see the horn so well.

I have started painting one of the buggies, nothing fancy just put on the first layers of color.
When i have done the camo i will begin shading and highlighting the blue. I started painting on the first buggie to. But, it's just dry brushed silver so no picture.

When i was painting the buggie, i thought that a buggie with armour plates was probably not that good of a choice.

So i think i will be building a deffkopta instead of finishing painting(for now) the first buggie i built.

13-10-2008, 17:58
Those buggies are amazing.

14-10-2008, 23:47
Thanks txamil. I hope i don't trip on the finish line and mess them up. :)

Some people asked me how i did my chipped paint and if i could do a picture tutorial, so...

Here goes with the tutorial.

1: A dry brush of Tin bitz. Well more like show the brush to a piece of paper and then slab the paint on.
2: A proper dry brush of Boltgun metal.
3: Then dry brush of Mithril silver.
4: Wash it with a mix of brown and black ink with a lite dish soap (i guess with the new washes won't need the soap). Then a glaze of blue.
5: Paint on the desired color, in my case, blue. Leaving parts of silver to show through where you think or want the paint to be chipped of.
6: Shade and highlight the color. Then paint on some thin lines of mithril silver where you think it's needed (if at all, it depends on personal preferences... and how lazy you are).

I hope this all made sense, if not i can try to answer your questions.

Oh, pictures of the buggie will be uploaded any day now.

15-10-2008, 00:28
Aha, so it's not just me who does weathered paint like that. Good to know. I thought I was being crazy. :D

21-10-2008, 13:19
I could say the same thing Catferret. :D

The progress on my buggie was a bit delayed as i was sculpting on some Empire archers.

Anyway, I think I'm done with the buggie. Well, it needs some dust but other then that i say I'm done.

Next up will be some regular ork boyz, perhaps a nob or two. Then i think I'll start on a new Looted wagon, and somewhere in between finish painting my empire army.

23-10-2008, 06:15
HAHAHHA THAT TRUKK IS ******** AWESOME in the most hilarious way possible but still good.
that bike is kick ass too, not so sure about the terminator pieces but at least you went overboard on the rest of it. nicely done sir!

28-10-2008, 16:58
Thanks omgitsduane, I'm glad you liked it.

Anyway, i thought I'd should show you what I've been up to lately.

I've sculpted on some empire archers in the hopes of finaly finishing the army.

And also started sculpting on a Cannoness that i will also be painting.

She'll be painted something like this.

03-11-2008, 20:02
The first seven archers are somewhat finished and i will start to paint them soon. in the meantime i decided that i didn't like how my Empire battle standard bearer looked so i removed the paint and began re-painting him.

Shading is done and i have started to highlight him.

Oh, i thought that i should post a picture of what I've painted to my space ork army, so here it is.

11-11-2008, 09:45
I made some progress on the Cannoness.

And i thought that i finished the Bsb (well, except for the base) but now i see that i still have some touch-ups left.

11-11-2008, 11:18
The banner's awesome. Great work on that.

There's something strange about the white cloth reins on the horse though. Can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's just the white background screwing with my eyes a bit.

Dark Apostle
11-11-2008, 11:23
Nice banner! The cannoness is coming along pretty nice too - BIG sword :)

I must say that I like your empire archers too - but the monk head doesn't feel quite right to me, as I connect it too much with the bretonnian imagery. Still, nice sculpting on the lot!

12-11-2008, 14:40
Very nice BSB. :)

13-11-2008, 12:51
Thanks for all the comments. :D

@ Catferret: I think it's part the white background and part the fact that the reins are so light in color and the horse is in such a dark color. I will try to post a picture of the BSB with another background.

@ Dark Apostle: And i made the sword smaller and everything. :p I didn't like the monk head nether, so i was going to give him a empire style beard and hat but in the end i change the head insisted.

Anyway, I made some progress on the Cannoness. I'm thinking about cutting away some of the top part of her sword to make it more of a scimitar then a cleaver.

And for those that thought that I'd forgotten about the daemons, i started sculpting on a herald.

17-11-2008, 08:50
I think that Both the Cannoness and the Herald are ready for some paint

20-11-2008, 00:02
Great work! I bet Elof will be pleased with the Canoness. I however fell in love with the buggy and warboss on bike. Fors should have something like that. :)

24-11-2008, 21:21
@ Kurai: I hope he likes her. Thanks I think Fors should try to build some, the buggy is relay easy to build.

Anyway, here's some big shoota boys, missing some final highlights but basically done.

I decided that i will be constructing a deffkopta, but until the necessary parts arrive i will be painting the nob i build most recently (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f170/Malenky_malchick/Space%20Orks/trnibb.jpg).
Today i painted the power fist and did a couple of basic colors. Some pictures of him will follow.

Oh, as soon as the weather allows it, i will prime and start with the painting of the cannoness.

26-11-2008, 15:38
Fors only buys prepainted models these days as he can't get his paints out even once a year. Not that I get that much done the times I pick out my paints either.

The orks look good. I've never been a fan of red weapons and such but they make a good contrast to the other colors.

Wish I could afford to make an ork biker army since I have a Ravenwing with 2k+ pts.

28-11-2008, 10:37
Well if he throws a Little money my way i could build and paint some for him.
it was a while ago that you updated your plog, i think it's good time to start painting something.

The orks red weapons. Well i think they looted them from some 2Ed space marines, yeah that's my story and I'm sticking with it. :D

I to have been tempted to build a biker army for some time, be it Ravenwing, Evil suns or Saim-hann, so.

Here is a picture of what i have painted on the nob, with the reason that it have taken so long time to make any progress on him (or anything else for that matter).

Kasrkin 666
28-11-2008, 11:22
OMG, this is all so awesome!

29-11-2008, 07:21
My plog hasn't been updated for about two months. However I'm at Ammobunker these days after I had some posts removed by admins a couple of times here for no obvious reason and no notification as to why.

There was a party planned this weekend but it looks like everyone else decided to skip it so I think I'll continue on my Ravenwing tonight. A Saim-hann jetbike army would be cool. However I think a White Scars or Evil suns would work better. 8 points extra per bike for Ravenwing is a bit much and their Apothecaries are worthless. As is their banner in my opinion. Only good things are that they are Dark Angels and have cool bkes. And a pre-game move.

01-12-2008, 02:22
@ Kurai: I found you over at the ammobunker, I just don't have a user there. Well maybe there will be an update for the ravenwing plog soon?

They probably would work better but i don't feel like starting on another space ork army and i don't like painting Space marines that much, but if i would start one it would be ravenwing, there bikes and fluff is hard to beat. :)

I have made some progress on the cannoness.

And finished with the Nob.

01-12-2008, 02:33
the ork.... i love and hate him. i love the painting, and the modelling, but the use of the power fist just seems.... really really really odd...

actully wth am i talking about? its an ork. it looks fantastic!

04-12-2008, 11:27
@ G.Hawke: Thanks. Well i guess the power fists are what makes the nobs nobs.
When there big and strong enough to rip the arm from a terminator there ready to be nobs.

I don't know what i was thinking when i painted the cannoness Eviserator, so i re-painted it.
I also started on the cloak and when i was almost finished with it i realized that it was to dark so i may have to re-paint that to.

I dusted of some of my old tomb king threw a Little paint around and came up with this.

Painting the Tomb Queen made me want to paint more. So i may re-start/paint my TK army.

Oh, Forgot to post a picture of the start of a Mega Armored nob.

I relay don't like the legs so i will have to re-do them. When I'm done with this one i will start on a Big Mek in Mega Armour.

Adeptus Mechanicus
08-12-2008, 13:22
Really looking forward to seeing that MaMekk in all its mechanised glory. I want it to be ad-mech ork style! Oh and concerning Space Marines, Ravenwing is meh, Ravenguard is yay! Btw, giver me beak helmets and give me a good tutorial on how to paint that white raven freehand XD

10-12-2008, 12:51
@ Adeptus Mechanicus: I'm not that familiar with Ravenguard but i have some beak helmets. I'll get back to you with more details on msn.

I started on my deffkopta... Well it's more of a deffbomma.

I have made some progress on the nob in Mega Armour, but forgot to take a picture of him. So, I'll take a picture of him and post it some other day.

Lord Azoth
10-12-2008, 13:00
like a lot your conversions...and the painting is totally clean and neat..good work..

how did you achieve this blueish based white?

10-12-2008, 13:21

I painted the white with space wolf grey over black, shaded it with space wolf grey and a little Regal blue, Highlighted with space wolf grey and skull white and finally with pure skull white.

10-12-2008, 17:44
Good job on the eviserator and tomb queen! Very clean painting. Neat stuff.

14-12-2008, 21:05
I reeealy like that converted St Celestine... and soon it will be mine! All mine! Mwahaha... *Ahem*

Your deffkopta still looks kinda Tau-ish. Is it supposed to be a orkish konvurshun?

I realy like the air-intake. Looks like something from a muscle-car.
Maybe add two large exhaustpipes? One on each side, and with a rough "bolted-metal" look, maybe angling up at the tail?
Or maybe a cracked windshield. Could give a bit of WW1 look maybe?
(wipers optional:)
Ohhh, and add killcounters on the side, for large stuff (tanks, MC etc) when you shoot stuff down?

Also (you might already have thought about this) have more paint chipped away on the parts facing forward since those parts might end up blasted (blästrade).

Lord Azoth
15-12-2008, 09:12
thanks for the recipe Malenky

15-12-2008, 09:20
I actually don't mind the legs of the Mega Nob too much... maybe some extra gubbinz; the general shape of the legs are quite orky though.

18-12-2008, 13:16
Thanks for all the comments.

@ Evilof: I hope you'll like the cannoness. :D The Bomma will (hopefully) look Tau-ish when it's done. As it's supposed to look like something the orks shoot down and then made better. Much of what you are suggesting i have already considered for the bomma as i want it to look like a orky WWI/early WWII junkyard fighter with a Tau feel. And kill counters and chipped paint will start to happen as soon as i start painting it. :p

@ MF3000: I thought that they were to long and spindly, so i changed them.

No problem Lord Azoth.

Now that i have the basic form of the Mega armored nob i will soon break out the green stuff.
I don't relay like the head, and I've been trying to fix a gob to him but nothing looks that good, so I'm thinking perhaps a Black orc mask, 40k'ified?

I also did some work on the Deffbomma. I'm not that sure i like the propeller so i will probably have to re-do it,
does anybody have any suggestions?

I also finished the Tomb Queen but photobucket is giving me a hard time so that photo will have to wait.

18-12-2008, 14:46
That's awesome. I like the propeller, leave it as it is I say.

18-12-2008, 16:16
Thanks Catferret, I think i may have to change it a Little bit, because i now see that the propeller is slightly bent. perhaps add some "teeth" like on the current deffkoptas rotor blades, or paint on a checked pattern, but that's for later.

Oh, and i Finally got to upload a picture of the finished Tomb Queen.

BTW. I hate painting bone. From now on i will try to avoid it or to simply dip it.

18-12-2008, 16:19
I wouldn't worry about the propeller being bent, it's an ork one. ;)

Lord Azoth
19-12-2008, 07:35
really nice, can you post photos from more angles...

thanks a lot

19-12-2008, 11:27
The finished tomb queen is superb! Nice work. I kinda like that model. Makes me wanna buy it, just to have it. :)

21-12-2008, 08:02
Your models look great. The blues in perticular are top-notch (although I do notice that blues are featured in a lot of your models. any reason for this?)

23-12-2008, 11:56
Thanks for all the comments.

@ Catferret: I hope to make it slightly more orky. But I'll wait a while until i decided what to do with it.

@ Lord Azoth: I sure can.

@ DirtJumper: Thanks, I just enjoy painting blue right now, I've had different color period's when all i painted was red or yellow or Purple.

Well i made some progress on my MAN, It's coming along rather slowly as i broke the last blade on my knife tinkering on my new Herald of khorne. I'll get a replacement as soon as i can, and in the meantime I'll do some sculpting.

As for the bomma, I'll have to put it on hold until i have a new knife to cut the plastic card with.

This is the start of a mounted Khorne Herald. Obviously theres a lot more to be done, but it's a start.

And to those that were interested, different angles of the Tomb Queen.

Lord Azoth
23-12-2008, 12:14
really she looks impressive...

24-12-2008, 22:23
She's looking cool, and that herald seems like he's on the right way.

25-12-2008, 20:42
Fantastic work on the orks, that is a really vivid blue.

30-12-2008, 13:22
Thanks for all the comments.

Well, i made some progress on my MAN. Now all i have to do is get some new plastic rods and i can start with the hydraulics, in the meantime I'll finish working on the Armour.

02-01-2009, 19:10
wow, looks awesome, truly lost for words at your painting, AND THE NOB!!!

Bring out the Burnawagon! ^^

12-01-2009, 11:24
@ woody: Thanks, I'll try to have regular updated so you don't go into with drawl.

@ Adeptus Mechanicus: as soon i get the necessary parts I'll start with your bad moon Skorcha wagon :)

Well, I haven't been painting much, but i have painted this Plaguebearer champion.

I also did some minor work on the MAN. I'm not to sure about building the MAN a power fist. Perhaps the MANz will be the only orks in the army with power klaws.

12-01-2009, 15:19
YAY!!! no withdrawl for me today!!!
Looking really cool, like the plaguebearers colour scheme, different to the usual dark greeny brown.
And the MAN is looking really cool, looking forwards to more.

21-01-2009, 16:13
Thanks for the comment. :D

I tried my hand at blending and came up with this. Hopefully i will get better at blending as i finish this one and paint more from the unit.

Anyway, i got the parts for the Skorcha wagon, so this is what i have made so far.

I looted the basic shape from Hortwerth but i will try to make something some what new from that.

The MAN will be put temporarily on hold for Skorcha wagon.

22-01-2009, 22:35
amazing log! how could i have overseen this?
a lil question for you_
can you tell me the recipe for the rust on the ladder of the looted wagon on page 1?

22-01-2009, 23:00
amazing log! how could i have overseen this?

Ditto that,

Thanks a lot for that chipped paint tutorial! It just so happens that I was looking for a technique like that when I stumbled upon your thread.

Great work here BTW!

I especially like what you did with that Imperial Standard bearer. Very dynamic!

Keep up the good work!

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull
23-01-2009, 09:07
Great looking stuff:), it looks awesome.

24-01-2009, 17:04
Thanks for all the comments. :D I hope that some one gets inspiration or motivation from my log.

@ tagsta: First dab on small patches of scorched brown then do the same with Dark Flesh,
mix in some bubonic brown and keep dabbing,
mixing in more Bubonic brown as you go along until you are Happy with the result.
It's not that big of a log, I can see how it might be overlooked.

@ Hawkmoon: I'm glad if it helped. I'll try to get a army wide shot of my empire army that the Empire BSB belongs to.

I'm not that comfortable using plastic card yet, i still just want to sculpt battle damage on. So, i did an plastic card exercise.

I also did some more work on the basic shape of the wagon.

Well, i feel the need to paint something soon and not just to build stuff. So, soon there will be a update with something with a little bit of paint on it.

24-01-2009, 17:55
Amazing Orks "Small Boy". Were the eyes of Ludwig Schwartzhelm painted on after the pic was taken? They look as if were missing pupils.

24-01-2009, 18:23
Thanks. :D No, He is just just missing pupils. I stopped painting them a couple of years ago because i never could get them right.
Fortunate for me i have mostly been painting orks and daemons or various chaos stuff so it hasn't been that big a deal.

24-01-2009, 18:38
The dread looks great. Dead clanky 'n' stompy! If you love adding grots to stuff, you will really like the new Stompa kit. It has loads of extra grots with tools and radio gear.

25-01-2009, 06:42
Wonderful stuff. Lovely painting. (The camo on the imperial guard caught my eye especially) fantastic conversion work. (the orky bikes are stunning) and wonderful scratch built work. (The buggies are great). I can see I shall return again and again to this log for inspiration.

25-01-2009, 20:20
Excellent painting and converting. Makes me want to put more conversions in my armies. Have a good one!

Adeptus Mechanicus
26-01-2009, 12:34
Wagon shaping up nicely. Sell me that Dread btw! NOW! ^^

26-01-2009, 20:56
@ Catferret: Thanks, I will definitely be looking into that kit. :)

@ Harry: Thank you very much, A lot of people have mentioned the guardsman,
unfortunately i will be dropping that particular color scheme because of painting all my Space Orks in the same scheme.
But i have been thinking of a new scheme for the guards.
I hope someone will find inspiration or motivation going through my log.

@ mdiscala: Thank you. Well, If you have the time or the energy you should definitely do that,
Some unique characters, monsters or units really enhances the army.

@ Adeptus Mechanicus: I hope you'll be pleased. Unfortunately that dread isn't for sale. But, I can build a new one for you.

Well, i thought that I'd show you what i have been doing on the
cannoness, and as i was moving her to take a picture i dropped her,
breaking of several pieces and chipping of some paint.
So I'll start repairing the damage, and post a picture of the progress later.

27-01-2009, 22:14
well, this is what i have been able to do on the cannoness, repairing the damage that happened when i dropped the miniature and the minimal progress paint wise.

The red isn't as flat as it might seem in this photos, the light kills almost all the highlights and blend work.

I'll try to finish the cannoness as soon as I'm able without losing quality and before i drop it again. :cries:

31-01-2009, 14:17
That model is, IMO, really let down by the base. "I'm walking over fake ground, covered in GW modelling sand." Paint the sand!
The model itself looks good.

09-02-2009, 18:32
@ mrtn: Thanks. I will not be painting the base, thats for Evilof to do so it matches the rest of he's army

Well, I've done some work on a couple of things.

First up. The order for a Bad Moon looted wagon with skorcha was changed to a Bad moon wagon with boomgun, so i riped of some execs plastic card, did a little tinkering and came up with this.

Also did some painting on my Deathskulls.

This is all tinfoil and ekxw fault, tinfoil for wanting me to start with 40k daemons and ekxw for giving me the balrog to bloodthirster idea.
Anyway, This is my WIP Bloodthirster.

09-02-2009, 20:19
is it going to be hairy? Its needs to be hairy...

I like the axe : D

09-02-2009, 20:31
@ del-patch:Thanks. Oh he'll be hairy, It'll be amongst the last things i do on the Bloodthirster, but there will be hair. :) First up, I'll continue making him some armor.

I'm wondering, Should i give him some shoulder plates? And i don't really like the tail, i might have to remove it or at least shorten it. Thoughts, suggestions?

09-02-2009, 22:20
I'd probably remove the tail as Bloodthirsters don't generally have them as far as I know. However, if you were to keep it, maybe make it furry like a dog's tail or add a row of scales or spikes down it. Something to add interest basically.

I would certainly add shoulder plates and a breastplate (one of the style with sculpted musculature). Bloodthirsters always had their Chaos Armour after all.

10-02-2009, 11:32
@ Catferret: I kept the tail in the first place because i thought that removing it would make the mini look unbalanced, but now I'm not so sure it would look bad.
I had started making the armor in the previous photo, you just can't really tell.

Anyway, I made some more progress with the bloodthirsters armor, and took some photos of different angles to give you all a better idea of how the mini looks.

31-03-2009, 11:27
It's been a while since my last update, It's because i have been playing more warhammer then I've been painting or converting. But, I have painted and converting something that I thought I'd show you.

To start of I've made some progress on my mounted Khorne herald.

Finished painting my Nurgle Herald, Well the base isn't finished but other then that.

Some nurglings, missing finished bases but basically done.

Then some PIP Daemonettes and flesh hounds.

More Daemons and space orks to come.

01-04-2009, 01:20
I love the sister's conversion, great sculpting on her head and sword. Your heralds are looking wonderful. I like the Khorne one, the choice of head on him is good, it's probably one of my favorite chaos heads.

03-04-2009, 14:27
@ tcraigen: Thanks, I've finished painting the Cannoness but I'm holding of posting a picture of her until Evilof have seen her first.
I'll try to find some time to continue converting my khorne herald, but for now I'm more into painting.

I finished the standard bearer for the Daemonettes completing the unit. There are still some final highlights and touch ups on the RnF Daemonettes but good enough for gaming purposes.

Then i decided to paint this. still a lot to do, but getting there.

Kasrkin 666
03-04-2009, 16:33
I love the Nurgle! Such a unique color scheme! And I can't wait to see the mounted Herald finished. Looks promising.

06-04-2009, 17:40
@ Kasrkin 666: Thanks. :D I'll try to find the time to have The mounted Khorne herald finished some time in the near future, as he is part of the daemon army i usually field.

I got a package in the mail today, containing what i need to start construction of.
3 Killa Kans
Deff Dread
4 Flash gitz
5 MANz
Mega armored Warlord

I'll also do some converting on 3 additional killa kans and make them some grotzookas.
They will all be of the Bad Moonz Klan and they will be built for Adeptus Mechanicus (http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192177).

And here's a picture of the lot.

You can also click for a Larger Picture (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f170/Malenky_malchick/BadMoon/labadMo.jpg).

Wooohooo that blueish tone works SO much better on them Nurgleboys!!
Why have I not seen this a week earlier, I ask you?

Oh well, there's not enough green in our club, so I might as well stick to my green...
Great going, pal! Really nice stuffs you've got!

Adeptus Mechanicus
07-04-2009, 15:11
Just got my new plog up mate. Linked to yours as well, you know, with all the extra awesomeness going on and everything XD

07-04-2009, 18:47
@ Daniel36: Thanks, i like it to, better even then the green ones i did before them.
But theres nothing wrong with green, GO green! :D

@ Adeptus Mechanicus: Excellent. :) Best of luck with the new log.

Well, this is the start of the dread, still things to do, for now i just angled the dread and made him some Armour plates and do-das.

Anyway, as i progress i will post pictures.

07-04-2009, 21:25
This is all tinfoil and ekxw fault, tinfoil for wanting me to start with 40k daemons and ekxw for giving me the balrog to bloodthirster idea.

Ha! Just caught this.
Looks like a fine start on the daemons. I like the way the Thirster is shaping up. And the color scheme on Epi is really striking. Nice work.

Adeptus Mechanicus
07-04-2009, 22:20
Moon looks wicked!

07-04-2009, 22:46
Lots of great conversion work.
I like the work on the orks a lot, same for the colour of the nurgle daemons.
Keep it up.

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull
08-04-2009, 08:34
Great conversion work, keep up the awesome work:). You never have enough deaf dreads:).

08-04-2009, 08:40
i think i've only ever seen one other dire troll mauler to ork warlord conversion, and it was on dakka dakka and it looked awesome, Can't wait to see what you have in mind for the monster!

08-04-2009, 14:31
Thanks for all the comments. :D

@ tinfoil: Thanks, Unfortunately i Temporarily stopped working on the 40k daemons as i have my hands full with other armies, not the least the resent commissioned bad moons. But in time I'll re-start my 40k daemon army. :)

@ Adeptus Mechanicus: I'm glad you like them.

@ Napalm: Thanks. Well the log will be chuck-full of space orks in the near future.

@ D35t0y3r: I know, I've seen it. I just hope that I'll have enough skill to pull of the conversion.

Well, Almost finished with the dread, only missing a back banner. I'll finish that then start on the kans.

You can also click for a Larger Picture (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f170/Malenky_malchick/BadMoon/moondre2LA.jpg).

08-04-2009, 14:54
He's a beauty! And he's such a big boy he hardly fits on the 60mm base XD The flames and spikes turned out just as I imagined they would. The extra moon on the shoulder was also very nice! Keep that magic flowing!

09-04-2009, 06:04
Good god, man! Are you chained to your work-bench. Amazing out-put.

09-04-2009, 13:32
@ Adeptus Mechanicus: I'm glad you like it. I'll keep you updated.

@ tankworks: yes, yes i am, and with a whip to my back, but thats a unrelated story. :p

Anyway, I've finished the Banner and started to clean and assemble some kans, and they will be getting a updated soon with a picture of the dread with them.

The One Eyed King
09-04-2009, 16:32
very nice, i like te way you paint your nurgle demons.
keep up the good work.

The One Eyed King

14-04-2009, 12:30
Thanks for the comment. :)

Well, two of the six kans are finished. I intended to do three in one go but i was missing a base
so i did all i could but put on the legs and pin it to the base, so pictures of that one will have to
wait until i have bought a new base.

Filling in for the Kan is the finished dread. Banner, grots and all.

I hope you'll like them. :D

They are lovely! It's surely stompin' time! I feed on these images mate, what am I looking forward to at the moment?

17-04-2009, 12:20
I've only just stumbled across your log, but there are some fantastic things in here. Your Orks are brilliantly creative and well painted in particular, the mega armoured one looks ace. Really looking forward to seeing progress on that bloodthirster, that really does have potential to turn out great.

19-04-2009, 15:36
@ Adeptus Mechanicus: More kans and then gits. I'll try to have regular updates for you. :)

@ richy376: Thanks. Well, i hope you'll make a return visit. Sadly my own orks have not gotten my attention as i have been busy
with my orcs & goblins and with the commissioned Bad Moons, and stray work on my fantasy daemons.
When one of the above mentioned projects are done I'll resume work on my own space orks and perhaps some 40k Daemons.

I bring you more killa kans. The last of the Dakka-kans in fact and the start of some Zooka-Kans.
Click for a larger picture

I thought that i should post a picture of the looted wagon i started so long ago.

20-04-2009, 16:00
This is a great blog! I really like your take on the Daemons, especially the Nurgle ones. The colours are absolute unique! Great job!

Monsterzonk :skull:

23-04-2009, 10:03
@ Monsterzonk: Thanks. I think I'm done (for the time being) with the Nurgle side of my daemons, but theres still daemons to paint and I'll try making them interesting to. :)

Well i thought I'd take a army wide shot of the daemon army I'm playing with, to show what i have painted and whats left to do on the army.

I also did some work on the zooka-kans weapons. still some work left but it's a start. :)

Adeptus Mechanicus
23-04-2009, 14:20
Those are really cool! Just needs ammo-feed, some sort of bucket filled with scraps ^^ Space Marine helmets, old choppas and the likes XD

09-05-2009, 14:53
Real life has been keeping me from the hobby but I've manage to do a little work on the kans.

so, i have a small update to day.

Still some work on the weapons. enlarging the buckets that will contain the scrap ammo, and adding more detail to the weapons.

All the kans have the armor plate with the moon on it, it's just that one of them does not show that well.
Click for a larger picture

Hopefully I'll have time for more hobby work now, and updates will be more frequent.

Adeptus Mechanicus
11-05-2009, 06:15
Looking really slick. Can't wait to see more XD

27-05-2009, 11:17
Gah, the grotzookas have really been frustrating making. I have made five attempts and they all looked like crap, so awful in fact that i didn't take any pictures, small children would weep and frankly it was just embarrassing.
So until i figure out a solution for the zookas I've started working on some flash gits. Not much to look at now but they'll look better soon. :D

Any body remember the Cannoness I was working on?
Well, she's been finished for a while now. And today i couldn't resist Uploading some pictures.
Click for a larger picture

Well, back to work.

29-05-2009, 00:52
You're a wiz with that plastic card. Good work!

29-05-2009, 07:36
Some lovely stuff here!

Your cannoness looks great. I love simple conversions, I think they're sometimes the best.

Your ork stuff is fantastic. Love your plasticard work.
The Kans & Dredd are really good.
I hope the grotzookas come together for you, I'm sure they will.

Eagerly anticipating paint!

16-07-2009, 13:21
@ mdiscala: Thanks, I still feel that I could and will improve my skills with plasticard.

@ BoyMilla: Thank you. The person I build the cannoness for seemed to like it to. :) The zookas are still giving me a hard time but I think It'll work out. As for when I upload something painted in this log I can't say as my painting efforts are given to my Orcs & Goblins army, over at the Fantasy Project Logs.

Well, I thought that I'de show this log some love and show that I have been working on the flash gitz. So I took some pictures of the ones that was furthest along.
To bad that the big guns cover up most of what I've done on the coats.

I'll take better photos and of more angles of the gits when I've done more work on them.

Adeptus Mechanicus
16-07-2009, 14:30
Looking forward to those Gitz real baaad! ^^

18-07-2009, 10:53
Then I hope you'll like these Adeptus Mechanicus. :)

I did some more work on the flash gits and finished the last snazzgun... well my drill broke so I could't drill out the barrels.

Still a lot left to do so I'd better get back to it.

Adeptus Mechanicus
18-07-2009, 11:19
OMG, they are looking totaly awesome! Can't wait to add them my force!

18-07-2009, 14:30
Where are those resin ork heads from? Are they from the FW biker set or are they non-GW?

Great conversions regardless.

18-07-2009, 14:33
Thanks, I think that they are some fun figures to convert. :)
The Heads and guns are from a company called MaxMini (http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php).

18-07-2009, 16:02
sweet log kompis! im looking forward to the progress of the Bloodthirster!

Solun Decius
18-07-2009, 22:29
Cool! THose are really nice green stuff jackets! Those resin heads are awesome too!

11-09-2009, 11:33
@ Nordic: Thanks, I'm probably going to try selling the bloodthirster after I'm done with it as it has no place (unfortunately) in my upcoming daemon army.

@ Solun Decius: Thank you. I hope to make them a little more impressive since last viewed.

Long time no update. Well I thought it was time to show what I'de done on the flash gits.

But the photos were really bad and this is the best of the bunch. So for now this will have to do.

Next time I will probably have a bigger update including all the gits (and better photos). I just didn't want people to think that this log had died.

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull
21-09-2009, 09:49
Great models, those heads are really awesome. I have seen someone who used them on fantasy themed pirate orcs.

11-11-2009, 12:11
Thanks. I to like the heads but I don't think I would use them for fantasy figures because some of them are way to sci-fi'y for my taste. :)
But with a certain selection of heads and a little work they could work.

First of a picture of all the gits I'm working on.

And the three that I've done the most work on.
Click for a larger picture

Still work left to do on the gits, mostly detail work on the three above.

Well, better get back to work.

11-11-2009, 12:28
The big coats are looking good. I'll be referencing these pics if I ever get round to doing a Gorkamorka mob I think.

Solun Decius
11-11-2009, 16:32
Your green stuff work is still looking great (even after all this time, haha). Hope you can get them finished this time around :D
The poses are really life-like and cool. It'll be a really special and cool Git mob in the end, I'm sure.

02-12-2009, 15:15
@ Catferret: If they are anything like you're chaos Mordheim band I bet they'l look stunning. :)

@ Solun Decius: Thanks, They are soon all finished and after that I don't know exactly what I'll do next. Perhaps Mega armoured nobs...

Four of the five gits are mostly done, There's some fine detailing and sanding left but nothing major or perhaps even noticeable.

The last two Snazzguns are so big that I put on some magnets for easier transportation

The latter of the two magnetized snazzguns is not shown in any of the above pictures, but will get an update of it's own when done, And perhaps also featuring the start of the next thing I'll do on the bad moon projects. :)

02-12-2009, 21:35
I love the guy with the bottle of booze. He's an awesome freeboota.

Lord Azoth
04-12-2009, 08:45
awesome conversions...cant wait for seeing the painted

13-12-2009, 19:46
Great work on everything. Thanks also for the tutorial on painting. I'll have to try that method on an ork vehicle. Really this whole log is very inspiring.

04-01-2010, 13:24
@ Catferret: Thanks. That's my favourite of the ones so far. :)

@ Lord Azoth: I'm sorry to say that I won't be painting the gits, I'll be selling them as soon as I've finished them.

@ can't_decide: Thank you, I hope it works out for you. :)

I present the start of my Mega Armoured Warlord, standing next to my old warboss and a barry.

The black markings on the shoulder plates are carved in the plasticard with a little black ink so they'd show up better.

I also started a small side project so I'de have something besides orks to do.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, I'll try to take better ones.

04-01-2010, 13:38
Chaos guy is looking great. Mordheim project? Or new WFB army?

04-01-2010, 14:08
As it looks now it will just be a single figure to convert and paint. But if/when I have the time, I'de like to do a small marauder army based on the figure I'm now working on. Maybe when I'm done with the small space ork project...

04-01-2010, 14:18
I think you should do a small (1000pt) army based on that guy. He'll be all lonely otherwise. ;)

04-01-2010, 16:16
I must agree, a small marauder army would be sweet;)

Those flash gits look amazing, keep them coming!

Solun Decius
06-01-2010, 12:46
Very interesting Mega-warlord. I'll be following the progress on that.
The Chaos warrior/marauder type is a very cool converion. Nothing flashy but very clean and nicely done. Looks very intimidating in a cool way.

07-01-2010, 10:31
Thanks for the comments. :)

@ Catferret: I think I will do a marauder army, I have a rough idea of what I'de like to build/paint for the army And I built the lone marauder a friend so he wouldn't be lonely.

@ Solun Decius: I even had the time to make the marauder a little plainer by filing down some of the details on the sword.
I don't really like the big spikes and enormous shoulders pads chaos look and wanted something a bit sleeker but still menacing. I don't think I pulled it of exactly as I envisioned it but still satisfied with the results.

As mentioned above, I built anouther marauder and started painting them.
I took this photo because it shows a stage of painting that I don't normaly show, Let's call it "my shiny knight stage"
in were I paint on pure mithril silver and then just start to shade/weather it.
This is how I painted all my metallics for my O&G and i think it worked out fine.
I just never took a picture of this stage before and thought that I should now.

I haven't done any more work on the warlord but took some better pictures of him.

Still a lot left to do on him and my (somewhat) resent acquaintance with plasticard is proving to be frustrating but a learning experience.

07-01-2010, 12:53
Have you made the cheek areas on the marauder's helmets more concave? It looks really good.

08-01-2010, 12:55
Thanks Catferret I wanted the helmets to appear skull like so I did some sanding. :)

There's a few touch-ups left but the marauders are basically done.
But, I am how ever stuck as to what to do with the shields. I have (as of now) no real idea as to what I'll do with them.
I want to include red some were on the figures but don't want to go so far as red armour.

So I'm thinking, something red on there shields or red war-paint? should I paint the shields brass or black, Should I paint red or brass runes on them? Any advice on colours or patterns would be appreciated.

I'll take some better pictures of them when I've based them, I think the shakiness and the brightness spoils the photo somewhat.

Some of my inspiration for this two figures came from a thread I remembered seeing over at dakkadakka a few years ago, and to day I found it again.

Tried a new thing while priming the the figures.
I sprayed the figures from the bottom black and from the top white and I think it worked out better then just a single colour.

08-01-2010, 18:28
Inspiration stuff here. I'm looking forward to seeing better shots of the marauder, especially the skin apeals to me.

10-01-2010, 12:39
Thanks Max1mum hope you like the new picture.

Still haven't decided what to do with the shields and I think that I have to re-paint parts of there helmets, other then that I think I'm done.

Now, I think I'll try finishing the gits and the warlord then spend some time on my O&G, somewhere in between I hope to know what to do with the marauders shields.

10-01-2010, 12:46
They're looking totally great! I love the combination of dark metals, leather and bases with the almost white skin. Great choice of colours there! Looking forward to seeing them finished!

Monsterzonk :skull:

25-01-2010, 12:23
@ Monsterzonk: Thanks, The marauders shields are finished and photos of them will be up shortly.

I decided I'd try selling parts of my old eldar army, so I removed the dust and took some photos.
There's some chipped paint and a few parts that I'll re-paint but nothing major and then there good to go.
This (if I can sell them) will fund the start of my new marauder army.

I'm not completely satisfied with the shields, I over did the scratches and paint-chip on one and under did it on the other. But I figure that I'll have to do 50+ of them so eventually I'll get it right.
Painting the shields I tried a new Technique (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CNFdEZnQN8), the chipped paint is actually chipped.

Oh, and will digging out my eldar army I found what I think is my first ever painted figure, a plastic orc boy painted around 94-95 if I remember correctly.

Those Eldar are stunning! Great work on them! I'd buy them in a heartbeat if I had the cash...

I'll have to agree on the Marauders' shields. I think they look great, but the weathering is a little too much on the left one. The right one's good, though!

Maybe you should apply some more shadows to the skin, to emphasize the volumes os the muscles

I really love those marauders. The balance between the pale skin and dark metals is superb. Can't wait to see more of them.
