View Full Version : Dutch Warseer Members Tournament

03-11-2005, 09:00
Alright, as we discussed in the Dutch tread (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4850&page=24), we wanted to organize a small tournament under us warseer members.

The current date for this tournament is 18 and/or 19 Feb 2006

The location is still being discussed, buth it could be the gamesworld in Eindhoven.

The matches will be 40K combat patrols, no further details yet.

Currently, we have the following people attending:
Bran Dawri

We'll use this tread to keep everyone updated about the details available so far, so feel free to post here or send a pm if you are interested.

Is it still going to be combat patrol when the number of contestants stays under 8? Because then we could do a simple three-round tourny of say 1000 pts each.

Who knows, maybe I could have my Armoured Company in a reasonable state by that date... Is it an allowed armylist?

Count me in ;)
but i would like combat patrol becouse i dont have 1000 pts of tau :p
(i got around 720 pts)

Could someone refresh my memory on the pointlimits in a Combat Patrol?

03-11-2005, 17:15
You can always use your Space Wolves... ;)
If the number of contestants stays under 8, the 1000 point armies should be cool. I can probably get 1000 points of Deathwing painted by that time.

But Combat Patrol is great fun as well!
Anyway, it depends on the number of contestants and the number of tables available...

Combat Patrol is traditionally limited to 400 points. But at GW R'dam we usually play 500 points with that ruleset. It should be in your BGB. ;)

At 400 an AC is out of the question. Teh suck...

I'll opt for 1000 point battles then. :D

03-11-2005, 22:18
1000 points is pretty cool as well, as it means I can use my Deathwing!
But a combat patrol tourney would probably be best if the group is big.

I believe str10_hurts said that Gamesworld has 8 tables. No idea what size though. If they

8tables 4x4 feet

So that would amount to 16 players right? If we want to keep it a single day event (which is preferable) that would mean how many rounds at 1000 points? Four, maybe five?

04-11-2005, 19:01
4 games is a max in one day, only combat patrol could do more rounds.

04-11-2005, 19:07
Right then. Is that enough rounds for everyone?
I think it's ok... Should be fun.

It's enough for me :) .

05-11-2005, 13:44
4 rounds should be good enough, I agree.

So what's it gonna be, 1000 pts games or combat patrol? 4x4 for 1000 pts is maybe a bit small...

It's actually quite doable. We've held a 1000 point 40K tournament in the Gamesworld before, and a good time was had by all. I personally did not think the tables were too small; no more so than a 6 by 4 foot table is too small for a 1500 point game.

07-11-2005, 07:35
Four by four is good for me.

If I'm not mistaken, we're unlikely to reach more than 16 people for our tourny. So is everybody cool with 1000 pts?

Has probably something to do with that I mostly play on 8x4 tables, even with 1500 pts... No problem otherwise.

1000 points is fine!

I'll get cracking on my Deathwing then... ;)

07-11-2005, 10:00
Februari eh? I might be able to field 1000 pts of Speed Freeks by then...

07-11-2005, 10:16
I just made a quick army list, and it seems I've got 14 models to paint before February. :D

07-11-2005, 10:48
Damn, I've got about 45 models left to paint for the fanatic, and that's in januari already...

Maybe I'll take my IG then... otherwise I just take Nids or Crons... no painting work needed for them...:D

That'll be a pretty simple list creation for me. 1500 points GT list minus 9 rubric termies and a few upgrades here and there. Done.

07-11-2005, 17:58
Well, having only 14 models left to paint doesn't mean it's going to be a quick job.
They're Deathwing Terminators after all. ;)

08-11-2005, 10:06
1000 points is fine by me. I also ask again, is AC considered a valid armylist?

08-11-2005, 10:12
Are there any big drawbacks for the other players when we would allow AC?

08-11-2005, 10:15
Dunno, there are ups and downs... I won't be able to squeeze in that many tanks, but little 1000 point armies pack the punch to deal with that front armour 14.

What do the others think?

08-11-2005, 10:40
Well, MY army (Deathwing) wouldn't have problems with it (7 Assault Cannons anyone?), but I can imagine other armies having loads of trouble.

Do you have the 2001 Chapter Approved book? It's go an AC list in it which has rules for small arms fire damaging tanks (slightly). That list always struck me as a little more balanced than the newer one.

If the other players don't have a problem with the newer list, you should use that one of course. :D

08-11-2005, 11:33
I wouldn't mind that much if you'd use it. Always fun to play against something I've never played before.

Bran Dawri
09-11-2005, 14:05
Well, I personally would face an autoloss when playing against Armoured Company. Little antitank weaponry + S8 AP3 ordnance = death for thousand sons in that particular match-up...

09-11-2005, 14:20
Depends on your shooting and the number of tanks you bring to the table. In a thousand points battle, I'd guess you'd field about four battle cannons max? No problem for me: I'm quick enough to avoid getting shot to pieces.

10-11-2005, 20:18
@Kaaijer: Can you perhaps field a tank heavy Mechanised IG force? Like I said before, I wouldn't have much of a problem facing an army like that, but many others would.

I understand you would like to field your army of choice (and I would love to play against it!), but for some people it wouldn't be very exciting (ie. auto-loss).
