Great Table Build Off
Brought to you by EnginStudio's

So I pitched this idea to my second builder Green_Ranger (Chris), and he agreed to a build off of two 6 x 4 tables, one needed desperately at his house, and one at my place, now that my older brother moved out.

Ideas:

Chris: Chris will be doing a typical COD city, but with the center of the table being annihilated be a large bomb. Using a mix of the GW buildings and foam board constructions, he will hope to make a gaming friendly table, but still maintain appearance, so NON-modular is what he will be going with.

Justin: I will be creating a not so seen type of battle field, a farming planet. It will consist of a man dirt road, barns, silos, a few "generic buildings", and of coarse a field. It will also be placed in a fall season. I will be making modular pieces as this is my only table here, and want to have options still between games.

We don't really have any wager on this comp. but when they are finished we will post a poll, for you to decide the winner.

Hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment or ask questions.:)

(Note, my table started out at Chris' house.)

We will both be updating on what we have gotten done over the past few days.

Well here is my progress for the night. After creating the massive crater. I made some roads out of plaster then began working to the buildings. There is not much to it yet but just you wait, I thing it's going to be quite a COD table once things start taking off:

Bugbait, sorry, it will be too 40k oriented (and we don't play LotR any whom)

There's a Dutch saying, freely translated saying "Not letting any grass grow over it", meaning you guys aren't just throwing ideas, you're actually getting right to it! Good going.

Very good ideas for both tables. I've never seen an agri-world board done before, I'd like to see how yours turns out. Good luck!

Thanks for all the comments guys, its really motivating.

N810, got any suggestions? I am re-painting my skid steer as well as already adding an Aquila on the back.

I have to agree with N810 about the car. It looks a bit too sleek for the 41st millennium. I would go with something that looked more utilitarian. Then again I don't think I've ever seen a civilian transport in 40K, so who knows what they drive. Either way I'm sure you were going to riddle it with bullet holes and weather the paint job on it. It will probably fit right in after all of that.

Interesting thread, both of you, can't wait to see it unfold. :D

Looking good so far but I would definately loose the car - it looks ****!

yea you could do your vehicles in on orky/madmax type style.
with lots of hasely wielded on parts and armor plates and general improvisiation.

Thanks, I was really worried about the car, yes i was going to smash it like theres no tomorrow but I would knoe the first thing about 41st millennium civilian cars So i think I'll just loose it and maybe put a preditor there or something...

Perhaps ordnance in the 41:st millenium is extremely precise, but I would personally have preffered if the crater weren't so centered in the middle of the board. If it just was a little bit of (not by much) I think it would look a lot more natural. Also - ditch the car!

I must say I really like the bombed out buildings though. It looks really nice and has a good amount of rubble.

Lol I knew soon or later I would of got flamed for centering the creator... oh well, I came up with what you said, It's the fricken 41st millennium, I thinks they could do their math right to hit their target... but cant change now.. and the car is gone...

Its really quite simple. The board is centred around the crater, not the other way around.

I don't know, the imperium isn't really known for surgical precision. I think the orbital bombardment from DoW is a prime example of imperial bombardment. But perhaps it's is someone else who has done the bombing?

It doesn't change that it looks rather peculiar.

It could have been the result of a deathknell orbital strike force!

I like the idea of an agri-world board and the barn(?) with the tractor looks nice. It would be really cool if you put a disabled tractor with a plow in the fields, having plowed the ground behind it. Perhaps not the easiest thing to do, but it would give you an opportunity for modelling different kinds of ground.

Great_Destroyer

A neglected tractor is what I'm planning, it wont be to hard to model (my father and I used to do 1/64 scale farm displays) I just need to find a sutable scaled tractor.

I also plan on having a wrecked 2 ton style truck, and a blown up russ on the side of the road or look like it was moving through the harvested part of the field.

I'll update tonight with progress on the building, not much but better than nothing.

Might I suggest landmines in the Agriworld board. Would add an interesting dynamic to games. Plus you can always make up some story about some crazy 40k farmer who doesn't want anyone else using his field. Maybe even a mini for him.

Boards are looking pretty good so far. Keep up the good work.
