View Full Version : My City Fight Table So Far

16-10-2008, 00:30
I been working over the last year on a modular City fight table.

My boards are 16 inches by 16 inches with 6 inch wide roads.

Any suggestion on what to do next.??.. We are looking at painting
the buildings better..(more detail) and continue building until we fill
a large area.

Here is a pick of it from our last APOC game.

Looks pretty, but like tentonhammer said, take more pics. Surveys say that people like more pics of city fight tables, kind of like people like monkeys.

I like it a lot!

If you want suggestions of what to do next:

1.) Make some piles of rubble. It looks like the emperor vacuumed the whole city and only left the ruins standing. Some moveable piles of rubble would look really good.

2.) Wrecks! If you have some models you don't want/need or want to practice scratch building. It would add to the atmosphere a lot.

3.) Interior. I don't know if you have built some kind of factory, but if you have - why not build some old machinery?

That's the spirit!

Looks like a really fun table man. I'd happily send wave after wave of Orks through it.

I have these wrecked vehicles (dont leave your stuff in a hot car,Kids)...I am not real happy with these terrain boards..and thought about moving them to the cityfight board and more put together as a wall verses vehicles apart.

Also I drilled out the bottoms out of the lamp posts and glued a magnet in, then placed another magnet on the underside of the city board centered on the side walk. I dont normally take those to public games because I dont want them to get lost so you wont see them in the finished pictures.
But Here is some pictures of it early on..

Love all of the buildings, should look good when finished, its the small details that really help.
Have you seen WorldWorksGames road tiles ? (http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=2) they might be OK for your table.

Bugbait out

As for what you should do next...
1. Invite a friend, or multiple friends over
2. Have them bring their armies and game face with them.
3. Play an amazing game that results in you wanting more terrain, and acting on impulse build more.
4. repeat steps 1-3.

Great work btw

Looks nive, mate!
What you want now is filth. filth on the buildings, on the road. Filth everywhere!!!!!!! We need rubble, broken bits, piles of crap!
Get it all painted and do a few washes!

Excellent usage of the Gothic ruins and platformer bits :D

Ps. check out the printable propaganda posters in this section
they are great for decorating CoD buildings ;)

The only thing the Depot is made of is platformer and Chemical plant pieces.. and Star Wars Revell set as the base, I stated before..

As for rubble.. What to use? I have tried kitty litter in the past (read it was the best to use) but found it picks off no matter how much white glue I use
and not happy with it at all..

Well I am finally back, After seeing the new plastic GW battleboard I am
thinking of getting it and then taking my existing boards and making a two
part modular board.
Take a 24 x 24 inch MDF board the same thickness of the battleboard
The roads would be 6 inches with a 1 inch side walk on each side (total
of 8 inches), then in the green area on the drawing I would place my 16 x 16
inch board pieces. That would allow me to change the roads and building locations..

What does everyone think????
