View Full Version : Classic Undead Teams in Todays' Game

I'm just about to dive back into the wonderfully violent game that is Blood Bowl, after a Loooooonnng time away from the game. Back in the day I ran a very successful Undead team, but the mainstay of this team was the multiple Vamps that won me so many victories.

I like the idea that now the game has been directed away from star players and focuses more on the team development, as this is where the fun is, but how does an Undead team cut it without the vamps? I expect to find that, as in fantasy, if you take away the blood suckers, the jury rigged crate of bones and bandages that is left just can't kick it.

What do you guys think?

Actually the remaining undead can kick it and kick it hard.
The classic undead team is considered to be one of if not the best bashing team in the game.

And how are they at managing to score enough to win games, being as they struggle to keep their own limbs attached, let alone keep hold of the ball?!

Well, seeing as the Undead are in line for a nerf in LRB6 (skellies to 40K, but gain Thick Skull), and all the data collected from leagues around the world, I think they can more than handle it.

Undead are one of (if not the top) team in Blood Bowl. You can have four agile Ghouls for scoring while the Wights & Mummies can bash the opponents into the turf. You have two choices of cheap linesmen so you can have a deap bench who can act as cannon-fodder and foul opponents off the pitch.

Are you joining in a league? That is the best way to play the game as you get the fun of developing your players. Our undead Coach rolled box cars for his Ghoul so has Str Four ball carrier!

Just to agree with everyone else, I'd say Undead are a good team to play with. Mighty Blow and S5 on the Mummies is scary even against Black Orcs or Chaos Warriors, and all the players bar the ghouls have regeneration, so you shouldn't find yourself undermanned. If you have a necromancer you may even end up with more players than you started the game with!

As Marlow says, use the Ghouls to do the ball handling, the Wights are quick enough to support them (and also have AG3), and the rest of the team can bash away to your heart's content.

The only thing that concerned me was that I don't seem to have that may ball handling options on the team - I have 2 Wights and 2 Ghouls, which gives me 4, but any opponent will know this and will target those players. Previously, it was always the Ghouls and Wights I used to score, and used the vampire to do damage and set up plays, to distract my opponent from the Wights and Ghouls. Now the attention will be firmly on them.

I intend to bulk out the teams that I have by picking up enough models to fill out the specialisation slots, so another 2 Ghouls for Undead, another 2 Blitzers for Orks and Humans etc.
