View Full Version : Heresy age World Eaters

07-11-2008, 13:13
My last thread for these marines seems to have been hijacked by all my other bits of commission work so I decided that it's time to get some order in here and start a world eater only thread so here we go :-

This is a log of a commissioned army that im slowly working on. The fella who im painting them for has given me a loose idea of what he wants and let me play from there!! he's sent/sending loads of spares and full kits to chop and change it's all good :-)

The initial brief is for a heresy marine force sort of on the brink of turning still in original chapter colour's and very few spiky/mutated bit's

This will be a picture heavy thread so should be plenty of eye candy to keep it interesting will update it as things get done

07-11-2008, 13:20
if this:

has anything to do with the army, it will look great :D

07-11-2008, 13:27
Well lets start at the top.

This was the initial mini that I painted for this force he's a captain and he based on one of the marine veteran models along with an arm of another of the vet mini's that was holding a bolt pistol which I removed and replaced with a double headed chain axe (had to be really). This guy is a bit darker than the rest of the marines, but I suppose you don't have much time to stop and clean your armour when your rebelling :-)

He sort of set the tone for the force, mainly that of it having marine and chaos marine kits mixed together. I think it comes across ok, without making them seem to loyal or to chaos you'll notice that its not going to be correct armour models for the heresy time line.....hope that doesn't put anyone off

07-11-2008, 13:29
sure does synapse :-)

07-11-2008, 13:35
Next up we have the first 10 man squad. Gonna keep mutations to a minimum and restrict them to characters and squad leaders, with the idea been that these are the one's that would have earned the favour, and interest of demons first

here's a family portrait of the squad

07-11-2008, 13:40
And starting here is a run down of each mini

Squad leader
Just had to use that horned head it looks to good not to, also chopped and repositioned the power glove as im trying not to have them all pointing at stuff

07-11-2008, 13:58
bolter marine 1

complete with gouged out eye and sideways bolter

bolter marine 2

I figured with the nature of the world eaters they should all really a have bayonets attached at all times just seems right for them

bolter marine 3

In throwing grenade pose and with a trophy rack

07-11-2008, 14:02
bolter marine 4

some of the chaos marine heads work quite well

bolter marine 5

with damaged lower helmet

bolter marine 6

07-11-2008, 14:07
Heavy bolter marine

Another one of those must use head's here, chopped the horn off the side and replaced it with an aerial. I think this one really suits heavy weapons. wanted to make it look like he's been using the heavy bolter as a club hence the blood splat on the end of the barrel and the bloody hand print down the front of his chestplate

07-11-2008, 14:11
meltagun marine

I blacken everything near the end of the barrel on the mini due to the heat of the meltagun firing also spun the barrel upside down so it had a single spike on top

07-11-2008, 14:14
bolter marine 7

Almost missed this one

07-11-2008, 14:15
that's pretty much unto date with all the stuff from the old thread so here's something new

07-11-2008, 14:25
Latest thing that's been painted is a black reach dread, I'm surprised by how good these new plastic snapfit mini's are.

For this one I've gone with plenty of damage, and a couple of small conversions. Swapped two of the powerfist fingers(?) for chaos chainswords, wasn't sure how this would turn out (always a bit wary about chopping up other peoples mini's) but went with the swords with a slight bend in the end of them, made them look like they a can still grip and could always be used as other dread weapons. Also added a chain sword to the bottom of the multi melta as well. I've kept all the marking to the top of the dread for no other reason than it filled in the large flat space on top (nothing to do with all the other flat areas been full of battle damage honest)

Action shots

07-11-2008, 14:27
and some detail shots

next up a devastator squad

07-11-2008, 15:43
My only gripe is the 'modern' helmets, but otherwise very cool.

08-11-2008, 10:47

hopefully it wont detract to much :-)

08-11-2008, 15:13
Looking very good so far, You might want to dab some Ardcoat to make some of the blood spatters look "fresh"

08-11-2008, 15:21
Love 'em. The scheme is ace, and the amount of dirt and blood is suitable. Thumbs up, and I'll be watching.

08-11-2008, 16:25
that dread looks really nie and crisp - i especially like the fist, though i think the chain fingers ;) would look better the other way round with the chain brlt on the inside.

always good to see more pre heresy world eaters around here :D

08-11-2008, 17:45
Those look fantastic, can't wait to see the devestator squad :)

09-11-2008, 00:36
though i think the chain fingers would look better the other way round

yea I toyed with that but I wanted them to still be able to grip plus it adds to the slow slide toward been covered in spiky bits that chaos seem to love :-)

09-11-2008, 14:09
Looking great mate! Always good to see blue and white beserkers and the more modern armour aspects could easily be attributed to them being set towards the very end of the war.

09-11-2008, 21:51

Im the guy that dave8oy is painting these awesome WEs for. He is working to my brief as well as letting his imagination run wild too and coming up with these cool minis which fit the feel of my army perfectly.
I know that the armour is not to time but I love the way they are looking and cant wait to see them arranged on the table.
Busy trying to work out how the berzerkers are going to look and dave8oy has some excellent ideas so watch this space.

will post my army list hopefully today guys

19-11-2008, 02:22
good work, the Main colours are very strong and have nice tonal quality. the spatterings of gore are well controlled and realistic to boot!

love the model Synapse pulled out in the second post. Almost makes me want to do traitors...

19-11-2008, 02:35
these guys look awesome!(for a bunch of beakiez!) are you going to do a whole army? keep up the good work mate!

19-11-2008, 02:41
I love the weathered look, very nice.

22-11-2008, 13:29
Been a bit quite with the updates one this so here's a catch up:-

These are going to be used as 2 five man havoc squads but will be painted as a ten man devastator squad (all be it one with 6 heavy weapons).

First off is the champion/sergeant

As the squad wont actually have a champ he's tooled up as a normal marine just couldn't resist giving them some sort of squad leader :-)

22-11-2008, 13:35
next we have the first of 3 missile launchers

pretty standard really not as much blood on these, I figured they'll stay back shootin rather than up close and personal but did include a fold out blade on the side of the launcher for those up-close encounters

22-11-2008, 13:37
These are looking really sweet. The dreadnought is great

22-11-2008, 13:42
and the first of the lascannons

was a real bitch trying to get the lascannon cables to go over the crouched legs without the barrel pointing skywards but im happy with the results also got a nice big bayonet attachment curtsey of some jungle fighters :-)

22-11-2008, 14:10
Promised myself that I'd try and keep some kind of order to this tread but looks like that's out the window......

here's the first of the berserkers

much kit bashing's going to go into this squad, with parts from marines, chaos marines, and even some empire flagellants.

was a bit worried when I first got the flagellants as the arms and heads are a lot smaller than I expected but with some green stuff to build up the neck and weapon Im very happy with the end result

they're gonna lose the blue shoulder pads in favour of the red arm. I've tryed to make them look like unhinged madmen while still keeping the W/E theme got another 11 of these to build but must finish the havoc's first......may have to lock the bits in a cupboard somewhere so not to be tempted... :-)

23-11-2008, 06:40
Holy crap.
That is so very worldeaters.
Nice work with all the writing on the armor too.

24-11-2008, 09:10
Nice work with all the writing on the armor too.

cheers :-)

not sure if I should carry that through the entire squad or if that would be a bit much?!?!?

24-11-2008, 12:09
Gorgeous stuff! Always loved the pre-Heresy WE scheme, and yours look gorgeous, especially the blue. Love the blood as well, that hand print is brilliant! Great blacklining too.

Keep it up!

24-11-2008, 13:42
Love the Zerker! That head works really well, and the painting is excellent.

brother slaughterer
25-11-2008, 14:01
Love the writing on the armour but may be too much on all the guys in the squad so maybe only on a few.
What do you think.

Love the work

25-11-2008, 23:40
yea I may limit it to just certain parts of the armour on each model i.e. arms on one, leg on another etc.... would like to keep a theme going with them

26-11-2008, 00:20
*claps* Very nice work on the conversions and the painting. I love that Beserker, but maybe his cohorts should only have a touch of the writing so as to not overdue it. Bravo overall on every piece so far, I love these World Eaters.

26-11-2008, 10:04
Nice job. Very nice job indeed.

29-11-2008, 07:29
time for another update

finnished the first 5 devastators/havoc's

first of the two new one's i the second missile launcher this is a straigh up havoc really liked this mini so left hime standard i thinkit works well with the others

29-11-2008, 07:32
and marine 5

lascannon 2 wanted to make this one a bit different so made him look like he's been caught out while redeploying

29-11-2008, 08:27
almost forgot this :-

01-12-2008, 14:35
Just to let everyone know that the figures are even better in real life, especially the dreadnought, awesome job!!!!

brother slaughterer
02-12-2008, 11:25
The above minis arrived yesterday and look awesome alongside the others Dave8oy has painted. Will post a pic of the complete army when we have 1500pts completed for you to see and appraise

02-12-2008, 11:37
awesome looking army!

05-12-2008, 07:59
Rather awesome indeed.

19-01-2009, 21:26
........im back!!! this threads not dead yet!!!!!

well real life's slowly getting back to normal after the birth of my second son so back with the painting....

finally got around to finishing the havoc squad with another 11 berserkers to follow busy busy busy

(pic's have come out very weird lighting wise will try and sort them later)

first up we have the 3rd lascannon

really starting to hate the metal lascannons getting them to match with the backpack in anything other than the "correct" pose is a nightmare had to chop the trigger arm off and replace it with part of a plastic one to get it to look right quite happy with the end result

next is 3rd missile launcher

gone with an at ease pose with him readying his combat knife

19-01-2009, 21:28
then we have 3 bolter troopers trying to avoid to many 2 handed bolter guys where ever possible hence the trooper holding the skull on a chain

as always comments and criticisms gratefully received :-)

Hadriel Caine
19-01-2009, 22:01
I'm glad this log is still alive. The Bayonet on the lascannon on page 2 is something I on't think I've seen before but its so very Adeptus Astartes! One comment on the painting. take your time. The first couple of marines were exceptional, as is the beserker (liking the litanies BTW) but the last few seem a bit more rushed, not sure why, but thats the impression i got. you obviously have the talent!

19-01-2009, 22:36
yea the last few look much better in real life just bad photography* on my side im afraid will try and take better pic's ASAP

(*colours/exposure are all wrong think its bad lighting and poor photo shopping)

20-01-2009, 10:52
just updated with better pic's enjoy :-)

20-01-2009, 14:08
great world eaters love the battle damge on the armour really cool looking keep it up

and show us more

Lord Zso Sahaal
20-01-2009, 15:37
Love it, simply love it. Gonna steal the Devastator squad ideas such as the caught out marine and the kneeling las-cannnon marine for my Ultramarines simply because they have so much character and pose than the standard marines. Hanging on this log for more goodness from you!

02-02-2009, 11:00
Time for another update i think....

Well I've started working on the berserkers, there going to follow along the lines of the test mini that i did (see above). Got and almost bottomless supply of parts for these :-) so expect many BIG choppy weapons!!!

There's 12 to do in total 11 troops and 1 skull champ. Details still to be worked out on the champ... not sure what colour to do him, any thoughts would be welcome, best ive come up with so far is a reverse to what the others are painted i.e. all red except one white arm??

Anyway on with the pic's

Reposed this guys arms so that both hands can grip the axe, as he jumps down off the rock onto to some poor sole. Was a bitch to get the arms right but im happy with it :-). Used a head from the flagellants im really pleased with the way these look and there's plenty of different ones which means they'll be no repeats in the squad!!

Hope ya like. Feel free to step in with any comments/subjections/criticisms

brother slaughterer
02-02-2009, 11:07
Awesome berzerkers with the razorwire bases. Look so barbaric and brutal, exactly the way they should be. cant wait to see the whole squad together. keep up the excellent work!

02-02-2009, 13:23
The scriptions on the armour of the berzerkers is such a nice touch. Seems to add to the obsession that gladiator berzerkers have with perfecting their martial prowess.

02-02-2009, 21:05
scriptions on the armour of the berzerkers is such a nice touch

thanks :-) still can't decide if it looks better with just a few or covered head to toe???

02-02-2009, 21:30
Absolutly fantastic!!! Awsome-great-mind blowing and all of the above these are great and cant wait to see more!!!

brother slaughterer
03-02-2009, 13:46
I think that a combination of the two is the way to go, some guys covered head to foot in manic scribblings and other guys only with a few. adds a nice variety to the unit.
Keep up the excellent work!!

03-02-2009, 14:57
I love that unit champion with the horned head!

Fantastic work and very creepy looking.

The devastator holding the Lascannon and shooting true grit style with the bolter is also awesome. Relocate and bust a cap!

04-02-2009, 14:08
SHOCK HORROR another update to this thread!!! here's the next two berserkers!!

Gone all two handed with these chaps. First off we have a twin hatchet marine again I've used another of those flagellant heads, really happy with the way these are matching up to the image I have of early berserkers (though the none bearded heads are way to small and make them look like they've had there heads shrunk :-)

next up we have twin plasma pistol's. I was influenced, buy the new ork stormboyz nob, to mount them mounted them under-slung(?) also wired them to the backpack for power as there early plasma weapons. Note the dead blood angel been trampled into the mud underfoot nothing like a bit of payback :-)

05-02-2009, 19:38
Just been looking at the parts I have available for the next lot of marines and it got me wondering.....can anyone tell me why beserkers have larger hands than a normal marine? maybe its swolen joints from all that kill'in???

05-02-2009, 19:51
No clue, but love your army so far, the colour scheme is pulled off to great effect and the conversions are just bliss.
Have always wanted to do a heresy age/pre heresy army but have always wondered which side of the rules to use. Except my army would have to be pre heresy thousand sons, just love the iconography and the details on the armour.

05-02-2009, 20:07
Just been looking at the parts I have available for the next lot of marines and it got me wondering.....can anyone tell me why beserkers have larger hands than a normal marine? maybe its swolen joints from all that kill'in???

Because they are older models, and the farther back you go in citadel history, the more anotomically incorrect the models seem to get.

05-02-2009, 20:27
very, very nice, you need an epically epic kharn etc. for the berserkers

05-02-2009, 20:59
you need an epically epic kharn etc

dont worry some intresting champs coming soon

brother slaughterer
16-02-2009, 15:32
Got an interesting idea for a pre/turn/post heresy Kharn model for Dave to convert/paint so watch this space guys!

16-02-2009, 19:02
Cheers, brother-in-arms... Great conversions and brilliant, gritty painting you've got in there. I'm gonna take some inspiration from your Devastators for my own, if you don't mind. No matter how seldom the updates may come, please keep up the good work!

16-02-2009, 21:48
nice looking models and the paint is awesome!

for terminators are you doing bigger shoulder pads?

17-02-2009, 20:08
thanks :-)

depends what you mean by bigger shoulder pads???

17-02-2009, 20:15
This army is looking great!

I can't wait for more!

18-02-2009, 12:19
i mean are you doing the big shoulder guard rims on terminator pads :P

like a bigger version of the normal space marine pads

18-02-2009, 21:10
ah right I get ya, hummm not sure.... I like the clean look of the termi pads will have to see what there like when there put together and what bits I get given to play with :-)

19-02-2009, 14:24
Right time for more pic's

Got another three done first off with figured I really needed at least one berserker helmet (all be it minus the bunny ears) armed with a marauder horseman axe (keep an eye out for more of these parts)

2nd up gone for a "roaring" sort of pose again with marauder parts

19-02-2009, 14:27
And lastly with this little lot is one of my favourite so far armed with a BIG chainsword and storm shield :-)

19-02-2009, 19:37
has anyone got a link or scan of pre heresy kharn?? im looking for colour inspiration

and yes I forgot to tidy up the base's on the last 3 mini's :-( have sorted now

19-02-2009, 20:06
Really like your stuff. Especially like the diversity and the character in the berserkers.

I do think that some of the blood would look better with some gloss varnish on it. Or you could use TCR for your blood spatter.

19-02-2009, 20:29
Looking good, did you say this is a commisioned army?

So are you getting paid for building/painting minis?

Cos that aint half sweet!

Brother_Chaplian Raimo
19-02-2009, 21:26
has anyone got a link or scan of pre heresy kharn?? im looking for colour inspiration

Look up Doghouse's version. Absolute gold, that is.

19-02-2009, 21:27
I really like those......do you mind sharing how you did the whites? I am also working on pre-heresy world eaters and have had a hard time w/ the white. I comes out ok, but is time consuming. I would appreciate the help. Keep up the great work.....I can't wait for more updates.

19-02-2009, 21:56

19-02-2009, 23:05
the whites are a pain in the **** way I do them is

white spray undercoat
heavy black wash
thin'ish skull white leaving black showing in detail
very thin watered down black wash
skull white high light

the blood and mud covers any blemishes

hope that helps :-)

ps is still a loooooong process :-(

cheers eclipsed :-) the skulls on chains are def a main part to my take on him will post some pics ASAP :-) isn't he strange colour though or is there some fluff reason to it?

Industrial Propaganda
19-02-2009, 23:11
isn't he strange colour though or is there some fluff reason to it?

No fluff reason. Khârn was blue and white too. It's just the painting style of this artist to always use few different colours for his artworks.

I like the helmet of Khârn with this Macragge pattern mixed with the Berzerkers Arx Skull Helmet.

20-02-2009, 23:29
yea the helmets good just not sure about the earings??? a bit Pat Butcher for my tastes

21-02-2009, 13:27
The art has definately got some Ghengis Khan undertones.

21-02-2009, 23:24
Thanks for the help.....I have never been able to work w/ white undercoats though.

I really like the champion w/.the big ass chainsword and stormshield. He looks great w/ the tatoo around his eye. Are those marauder heads?

22-02-2009, 09:55
white undercoat really does speed things up with these...does use all your black wash up though :-)

yep there marauder heads

22-02-2009, 10:15
They are just too cool for school. Keep up the great work, I'm watching.

23-02-2009, 17:28
Well maybe not quite kharn but here's my interpretation of a berserker champion :-

pulled out the stops here paint wise & a fair bit of chopping went into this chap, I was a bit worried how he was gonna turn out, the huge ork axe made him look really over balance, hence the large chaos symbol on the backpack. It gave it a bit more symmetry and balanced it nicely. With a skull theme in mind (hence the use of the chaplain mini) bunched a load of the skulls on chains (from the marauder and flagellants) together and used them instead of replacing the pistol in his left hand. Then to finish it off I though it needed a special base so went with a resin one. I've been looking at these for a while there really great with all the half buried skulls and really fits well with the mini...

Anyway on with the pictures enjoy

(ps will post better pic's when I get chance to photo it in good light)

23-02-2009, 17:51
Man, these things just keep getting better! Definitely some awesome conversions and the paint jobs are top notch... I especially like the idea of the mud slogging up the boots tying in with the basing, a very nice detail. It's always the little touches that make the most difference. So far, my favorite is the "roaring pose" guy, but it's hard to choose with so many nice early-Chaos figures to choose from. Can't wait for the full army shot when it's all done, cheers!

brother slaughterer
23-02-2009, 20:14
Well, I have to say that the skull champ is my favourite so far, awesome job, but Ill reserve final judgement till I see all the cool berzerkers together. Excellent work Dave

24-02-2009, 21:28
thanks for the complements :-)

I especially like the idea of the mud slogging up the boots tying in with the basing

I really couldn't bring myself to carry this through to the skull champ, spent too long on highlighting him for that... :-)

06-03-2009, 16:29
All done.......A full squad of berserkers!!!

First up

Had to use at least one of the Nobz big axe's they really do look the part with W/E :-) other than that used a marauder head on him.

Twin pistols nice straight forward marine here with a berserker bunny head minus the ears.

Big freekin chainsaw hands nuf said!!!

Quite happy with this one marauder spears/javelins and a marauder head

06-03-2009, 16:31
and here's a couple of group shots :-

Comrade Wraith
06-03-2009, 18:45
Your models are stunning,.

The use of nob axes is very appropiate

06-03-2009, 20:38
Oh, I just live for group shots lol. Looking great, now that I see the whole crew, the bearded berserker with the axes moved into first place for me. The blood splatters, mud, and overall grungy theme are fantastic, top notch work all the way around!

07-03-2009, 12:11
skull champs got to be my fav :-)

brother slaughterer
08-03-2009, 21:37
The group shot shows the guys perfectly, well done Dave. faves????? well Ive got a few..the skull champ is beautiful, the bearded guy with 2 axes is wild and the guy with mohawk and shield is soooooo cool.
well done Dvae, your best work so far. Cant wait to see what you do with the scouts squad. Cheers

brother slaughterer
08-03-2009, 21:38
sorry mate that should say Dave...oops

11-03-2009, 20:56
That group shot is great.....I love the berserkers. keep up the great work. Almost makes me want to paint my stuff.

08-04-2009, 08:03
Great work, bro. Only thing /I/ could see /myself/ changing would be to add some bronze into the bloodied areas of the zerks, like in a way that it appeared the blood was washing the white and blue away, leaving red and bronze in it's place. Not sure how to do that, not skilled enough myself. But I think that would be f'king killer.

[SD] Bob Plisskin
08-04-2009, 12:48
Holy Moly!

All I can say is that is the best looking berzerker squad I have ever seen. All these minis are amazing. Can't wait to see more.

09-04-2009, 22:12
thanks :-)

yea i though about adding bronze but wanted to keep to a limited palette..also wanted to make them look like first company vets i.e. different marking to the rest of the "normal squads" hence the red arm rather than blue shoulder pads with hind sight maybe bronze shoulder trim on the red arm would have worked?......

new mini's coming very soon.......

10-04-2009, 05:51
Looking forward to them :D

Awesome stuff. Really love the way you've built your models and some inspired uses of different bits. The berserkers look great and look infinitely better than the GW interpretation in my opinion.
Your painting seems to be of a very high standard and you're creating a very fluffy army so much kudos to you!
Can't wait to see more of these guys!

10-04-2009, 07:27
Love that chaplain mate, frikkin sweet.

10-04-2009, 22:25
These are beautiful! i am really inspired! ive always wanted to get around to doing some pre heresy world eaters, but these might just push me over the edge!!! Amazing!

11-04-2009, 13:44
everybody should do a heresy army there's so much background to play with :-) GW really needs to exploit the pre heresy market an get some mini's made

Couldn't agree more and other companies ARE making money out of it because they haven't made a move.

I can't help but wonder if they think Red Scorpions are popular for the wrong reasons.

11-04-2009, 17:57
Wow. Really creative. I like the crazed, brutal look they've got.

12-04-2009, 00:13
yea they should kick the lotr stuff, now the movies are done with, and put there attention/funding into 40k history a couple of plastic early power armour sprews would go down a treat :-) plus i want guard with rhinos again like in the RT days

12-04-2009, 02:51
Brilliant =)

The over all composition of modelling and painting looks awesome, these are some of the nicest World Eaters I've ever seen.

Do you take inspiration for John Blanche? Your style reminds me of Blanchitsu

Oh, and that BR Dreadnought is unreal! :D

Keep it up!

My only crit: The reoccurring 'hole in the eye' thing

12-04-2009, 09:49
id not really notice the hole in the eye thing was so prevalent, the next squad has one as well.....GW does seem to make a few heads with eyes missing and they seem to be gravitating towards these W/E along with the extra one's Im adding

is this a bad thing or should I keep with it???

never really liked john blanches stuff, always looked to scribbled to me, saying that the chainsaw hands was influenced by the old necromunda pit slave pic he did (i think it was him anyway will have to try and dig out the pic and chk)

12-04-2009, 11:07
ah man these guys are great.

My style is so different, perhaps thats why I love these guys so much.

They're not just an army, they feel like a cast of characters. Each one feels like a name, rather than just a marine.

I really like them, particularly the guy with the mohawk and star tatoo on his eye.

12-04-2009, 19:49
thanks :-) really need to find some new heads that'll fit with the theme with all the new empire stuff on its way that may not be a problem :-)

if anyone has any other suggestions for heads????

13-04-2009, 19:19
does anyone know of any good none GW heads like what i've already used on the above???

15-04-2009, 19:15
no suggestions?

17-04-2009, 13:56
quick update time here's a quick look at feel for the next squad

kit bashing again here bits from marauder horsemen, chaos marines, imp guard power fist, and of course based on a scout

still needs some fine tuning and the chapter symbol painting on....

will post rest of the squad when there done prob after weekend

17-04-2009, 14:20
SWEET! these are some nice updates mr Dave sir!
I love the beserkers squad cos it looks very violent but I have to say my favourite thing here has to be the scout conversion with the IG powerfist. he looks SO chaosy, Ididnt even realise it was based on a scout until I read it, AND I've been makign scouts non stop for about a week lol.

The marauder horsey sprue is seriously useful isn't it! Almost wish I still had space puppy 13th company... :D

p.s. updated my log as well and have a new general one which has some chaosy stuff in it, may be of interest.

17-04-2009, 14:49
yea I've pillaged just about every usable bit from those sprews which is why im after some new heads :-(

here's the first of the finished one's

17-04-2009, 15:27
Nice blue and the flesh seems almost real, lucky person who these are for. :):( <--:wtf: :):):)

17-04-2009, 23:51
thanks tryed something new with the flesh seems to work ok with these :-)

18-04-2009, 15:58
The powerfist on the Aspirng Champ looks awesome and the use of scouts adds a touch of variety and individuality to the army, very much in theme with the whole army.
Well done Dave

19-04-2009, 15:13
glad you like I was suprised how easy it was to match the powerfist upto the scout arm :-)

will have the rest of the squad done hopefully by monday night so stay tuned for updates

19-04-2009, 21:06
When the scout/tactical squad are finished....guess what?
Another squad of crazee berzerkers (only 8 this time so dont worry), then 5 termies then maybe some chosen, thinking 8 really pimped up guys and hopefully the possessed will be finished too.

Busy busy busy

20-04-2009, 16:27

20-04-2009, 16:43
Wow they are brilliant, love those heads on the scouts and the way you do that fantastic blood!

20-04-2009, 19:12
Brilliant scouts, as your other stuff is. Keeps inspiring me.

This may come a little belated, but I've got an idea for your head needs: Are you familiar with Micro Arts Studio's Barbarian heads? http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/conversion-lab-c-45.html

Here's a quick pic for you: http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/product_thumb.php?img=images/CL_barbarian_head_set1.jpg&w=240&h=180

20-04-2009, 20:00
Cool barbarian heads, will def get some of those for the berzerkers, thanks.

20-04-2009, 22:58
yep they'll do :-)

only 12 more heads to find any takers? :-)

21-04-2009, 00:37
If you are looking for unique heads, you may want to look at some Urak'hai ones. I know that the LOTR minis are on a smaller scale, but the Urak'hai are kinda big, so they may fit a scout better. The one's witht he helmets seem fairly farrel/barbarian enough while still hiding their lack of human traits.

21-04-2009, 00:43
The scouts look great, not a fan of the cage head one, but apart from that lovely :)

Red Skullz
21-04-2009, 05:46
I really like following the developement of this army, tons of character all round!

21-04-2009, 15:22
cheers for the kind words

LOTR minis is an interesting idea and something I'd not even considered (Really not a fan of them) will have a look maybe even find a use for some cheers for that one

yea the cage head.....humm if i were to do them again...........but it still looks better than the standard scout head talk about mail box head :-(

just been discussing the next lot of mini's tons of idea's yet to come........ more berserkers, obliterators, termis, demon prince, possessed, chosen......the list goes on....

27-04-2009, 22:44
Just wondering what the thoughts are on this revised list, from a painting point of view I'm happy as I get to make more berserkers and some chosen :-) but how does it stack up list wise???? anyone suggest anything (pref inc some termis as i have some ideas for them :-)

Hi guys,

Trying a different tack with the list. All comments and suggestions considered.

Chaos Lord- MoK, Lightning Claw, MB and Combi-flamer

Chaos Dreadnought- Multimelta and Heavy Flamer

CSM Tactical Squad (10) - AC with PF, IoK, 2 meltas
Berzerkers (7) - SC with PF, Meltabombs, Rhino
Berzerkers (8) - SC with PF, Meltabombs, Rhino

Chosen (8) - AC, IoK, PF, 4 Meltaguns, Rhino

Predator - Tri las, Daemonic Possession

By my reckoning I have 66 points to play around with. Any suggestions or additions?

Thanks in advance

22-07-2009, 20:23

27-07-2009, 08:40

here's the first test mini (ignore the base its only on that while its been worked on)

"can you see what it is yet?"

26-09-2009, 11:14
Looks good, great work on the red, really nice highlights.
Is it a musician Rolf?

28-09-2009, 12:41
Love the scouts and the demon prince is first class, keep up the good work.

28-09-2009, 15:14
Really nice looking army, I dig the mud-n´-blood-look :)

28-09-2009, 21:14

Love em so far mate :)

01-10-2009, 13:15
this looks incredible, just wondering, but do you still want comments on the list?, or is it a bit old now?.

and that dp is AWSOME, only thing is for gaming reasons you might want to stick some wings on it :D, but model wise it is brillient.

the scouts are excillent, but what are they counting as, just normal marines?

and i am totaly inlove with those zerkers :D

The scouts count as regular CSMs although in tourney play they are not permitted (as I discovered) due to the fact they look "too scouty".

Probably my favourite minis dave has painted so far

02-10-2009, 15:16
Can't believe they weren't allowed that's just taking it all to serious :-(

Anyway onto the new stuff....

looks like the army's going all blood pact from here on in.

Here's the first 4 mini's :-

The finished test mini

(yes I know he looks a bit like an evil father Christmas :-P )

Been playing with blood effects on the axe head

First of 2 flamers

Solun Decius
02-10-2009, 17:19
Oh, wow! Like the blood pact, the masks are really cool!
Look forward to see more.

02-10-2009, 17:51
never one to dissapoint here you go another 4...

2nd flamer

and some lasguns

the end is nigh

02-10-2009, 17:52
and the last of em

and a group shot

Solun Decius
02-10-2009, 22:18
That's a really characterful group there.
Santa is kind of the odd one out though. I don't think it's because of the beard, I think it's because of the side wind. He looks like he's in his own weather system, somehow, when he stands in the group with the others.
Great stuff, and keep'em coming!

03-10-2009, 01:08
well he is taller than the others and he's on a rock so....maybe its windy up there?

03-10-2009, 08:10
the evil father christmas looks great, though ive never been a fan of those maxmini heads, but the conversions and paint jobs are very nice

(and here i was expecting to see blue and white world eaters :p)

03-10-2009, 10:21
I know what you mean still cant decide if I like them or not there's just something about them :-(

But they are some of the best cast bits I've ever used and the customer service was fantastic

09-10-2009, 12:28
I am thoroughly convinced this thread has been forged of pure Chuck Norris... OMG the bad-assery of the master and the very first guy with the fist... combined with the rest of these guys is just too good I wish I had the patience for this kind of converting.

06-12-2009, 16:29
Not really had much to post on these lately......that is until now..... I give you a Summoned Bloodthirster !!!

and dam was it a git to put together :-P

all done now though, so what do y'all think of it? any good?

07-12-2009, 14:31
Great work, very very good. The gold armour is excellent, kinda reminds of the armour from the film "gladiator". One thing I never did get though....a chain thong?!?! Ouch, surely even bloodthirsters get wedgies!!

07-12-2009, 15:13
ah why do you think they always look angry.......

07-12-2009, 20:35
good conversions and nice spatter job! i like the dirt and the gore... it looks right on world eaters.

19-12-2009, 05:57
Even though they're not true-scale, these are looking very good. Keep it up!
