View Full Version : Daemon players- What do you use for Heralds models?

As the Title says "what do you use for heralds models?"

I've pretty much been using greater daemons, but as I've been building up my Khorne forces I think I might want a Knorne herald. I was thinking of using a fantasy lord on a juggernaught with a bloodletter head.

I've been using a horror painted Blue for the blue scribes, but at some point want to make it really like the blue scribes.

What have you done for heralds that have no models?

for skulltaker i use a fomor fiend on a fomor beast (both from rackham range)
for a khorne herald on chariot i made a conversion of a bloodletter chest on a cryx robot (warmachine range) as a demonic dreadnought.
for the tzneecth herald i use the special edition tzneetch sorcerer on disk

(i dont use nurgle or slaneesh heralds, only the mask)

Some of my heralds are selfmade, from different bits and various models (Nurgle&Tzeentch). I also use one of the old Seeker models as a Slaanesh herald on steed.

My Skulltaker model will get a chariot, to be used either as exactly that, or as a Khorne herald on chariot. My Khorne herald on foot (http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?cat=WG396&product=HV001&sid56B6977983A2499CAB608BB33B945735=abb620cafef36f 6695587515cfe9aa0a) is a Heresy model ("The Fallen One").

In general, Heresy does some pretty cool demons. Also the range from "Helldorado" (http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?list=WG1099) is a good scource.

My one herald is the Archeon on Foot Model and a Daemon from Heresy. See attached link for pictures of the painted models. ;)

Ive got two Khorne Heralds, a Tzeentch Herald, and 3 Slaaneshi Heralds (two of which could be Daemon Princes as well). I use the Epidemus model for a Nurgle Herald (in Fantasy of course). All of mine are scratch-built.

My Tzeentch Herald is made from old-skool and new-skool Chaos Spawn parts and Fiend of Slaanesh parts.

One of my Khorne Herald is made from Bloodthirster, Fantasy Undead, Ogre, Chaos Spawn, and Chaos vehicle parts. The other is an old, old, old-skool Champion of Khorne model on the old Juggernaut, with an Icon/Igsignia of Khorne on his back made from Berserker and Bloodletter boxed set parts.

One of my Slaaneshi Heralds is made from Chaos Spawn and CSM Possessed parts. The other two (that could also be Daemon Princes) are made from the real, real old Slaaneshi Beast models (the ones that look like Minotaurs) with Rat Ogre parts added to give them 4 arms each.

Just thought Id share my methods! I think Heralds are generally meant to be on normal size bases, although all of mine (except a Slaaneshi Herald) are on the Ogre-sized-bases.

Well, I have
Skulltaker on Chariot (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/Grimtuff/Project%20Log/100_0929.jpg)
Skulltaker on Juggernaut (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/Grimtuff/Project%20Log/100_0903.jpg)

My Nurgle force has a Heldorado fig that's the pile of worms thing

Currently I'm using the old daemon primarchs and greater daemons from Epic. Chariots have been knocked up from the really old plastic skeleton chariots and various critters pulling them.

My seekers are daemonettes on spider body from goblin spider riders.
My Slaanesh herald on steed is a daemonette on the spider body from LotR.

I got 2 Slaanesh heralds on chariot (one chariot from high elves and one from dark elves pulled by 'old metal seeker mounts'). Both 'normal' daemonettes, I do take the big claws for them. Two heralds of khorne on chariot (both chaos warriors chariots) are the same as slaanesh, 2 normal bloodletters.
For the Khorne chariots I use 2 different type of Juggernauts.

For the generic heralds, I have a good supply of the Epic greater daemons and primarchs, and those have the advantage of looking the part but still being distinct.

For the Blue Scribes, I did a little bit of diorama work, but it's mostly just an inverted large flying base and two horrors. For my chariots, my Tzeentch chariot is another greenstuffed large flying base, and my other chariots are a selection of random fantasy chariots bought off of the bits stores on eBay.

I use the Masque as, well, The Masque and I'm in the process of building my own Herald, he currently has parts from the Beastman Regiment box, Bull Orges box, Daemonettes box (obviously), Rat Ogres box, Vampire Counts Metal Vamp and Necron Lord. I think that's it, other than a shed-load of GS.

Worst of it is, I want to make the same guy again but on a chariot.

I'm using the official khorne herald on juggernaut myself.

For the Skulltaker I use his GW model.
For my second Khorne Herald, I use a converted Bela'kor model.

Skulltaker is the GW model as is the Masque.
My Herald of Tzeentch is from Otherworld Miniatures. (http://www.otherworld.me.uk/images/Type1Demon1.jpg)
My Harald of Nurgle is the Heresy Blight Champion. (http://www.heresyminiatures.com/images/hv045_blooargh_1.jpg)

I built my own, from my bitz box.

I just use older versions of the various lesser daemon models. So my slaaneshi herald is a big-claw daemonette, so she stands out, and my khorne herald is a 3rd ed "hairy" bloodletter.

Was using oger bulls for nurgle, but didn't like their performance so they became obliterators. Epidemius is a sculpt I did, and is not quite done yet, but been used enough that people in my group HATE the tubby little guy. Was proxying eldar vipers for tzeentch, but I finally started actually working on one. It's a flamer on a scuplted disk like thing being pulled by a signle screamer. His arms are going to end in whips instead of the normal flamy mouth stuff. For slanesh I'm still looking, but I'm working on something that might be a lash prince/sorcerer that I'll use as a stand in until I find the "right" model. It's the red terror from a few years ago with a chainmail loinclothed chaos marine torso ontop. His head is a nid devourer with a greenstuffed neck. He's going to have multiple arms, just not sure what I'll use yet. I don't play khorne, but I might throw together a small army and put it on ebay. Heralds there would probably be heavily green stuffed bloodletters, or possibly a mishmash of beastman and orc.

I would use for Khorne herald the Khazrak one-eye figure from BoC range. Just swap the head for bloodletter head, and tadaa!

Nurgle herald----Nurglitch, the skaven hero of clan pestilens. headswap, and maybe some modelling for the rat. Could work.

Slaanesh----Daemonette head for the slaanesh champion model, and its complete.

tzeentch----maybe adding two flamers together, and put some bird-head for them. or the tzeentch champion model is good enough.

I hope I can help somebody with these.

My Herald of Tzeentch is from Otherworld Miniatures. (http://www.otherworld.me.uk/images/Type1Demon1.jpg)

That's a fantastic model, would it fit on a 25mm warhammer base?

12-04-2009, 14:49
for the tzneecth herald i use the special edition tzneetch sorcerer on disk

Which model is this?
I build mine with the WHF Tzeentch sorcerer on disk surrounded by seekers.
