Wow it is looking really class A awesome. I am loving how it feels so "lucius" pattern. All blocky with and archaic stern face. I JUST LOVE iT

12-09-2009, 10:02
That's coming along beautifully, man - simply splendid work!

13-09-2009, 18:32
Thanks a lot, Mates !!

Great to hear that im heading in the right direction.

Done some small updates on the Head, so here you are.

I think its coming along nicely.

Hope your pleased. ;)

I also did the Sidecaps for the Main Hip Connector.

I think it looks "ornate" enough.

Then i got sidetracked and did a Stormtrooper/Veteran, just for the fun of it.

I know he has nothing to do with the Reaver, but i trow him in here all the same.

Thats todays update, SEE YA !!

13-09-2009, 19:32
looking awesome!

Chaos and Evil
13-09-2009, 20:10
It's shaping up nicely :D but isn't the epic lucius reaver's head rounded or does it just look like that ??

Slightly rounded, not quite so angular as this.

the damned artificer
13-09-2009, 20:36
Slightly rounded, not quite so angular as this.
Ahh I knew it;) hehe

The head is still beautifull, with or without the rounded edges. Nice job.

13-09-2009, 21:06
Well, well, there you have it ! You cant trust Photos, youve got to have the actual Model !! :D

Witch I DONT !!!

Lets call it a SDKFZ Forge-World special ;)

13-09-2009, 21:18
SDKFZ.. thia is looking great, you are making fantastic progress..

Hope you are also feeling better..

Best wishes,

14-09-2009, 14:40
@ cthorpe : Thanks, Mate ! Yes, im feeling a lot better. :)
Sadly, next week i have to go and do some schooling with the Fire-Brigade.
This means that i will not have the time to build ANYTHING for almost two weeks !!:eek:

But dont worry, ill be back !

Ill be missing you guys !

16-09-2009, 18:10
Time for one last updat Pic. ! :D

Now then, what do you think ?

the damned artificer
17-09-2009, 22:09
Man this is so frekin' nice :D And do I spot some slightly curved edges dude ?? ;P

17-09-2009, 22:30
@ cthorpe : Thanks, Mate ! Yes, im feeling a lot better. :)
Sadly, next week i have to go and do some schooling with the Fire-Brigade.

The Titan is coming along nicely.
I also had some schooling with the Fire Brigade.
As a child I managed to set the back yard on fire twice playing with my army men.

OP master N
21-09-2009, 20:22
Well, the head is turning out great!

@Tommygun: Hey, you still play with army men... :) (as do we all...)

22-09-2009, 00:18
The stormtrooper/veteran is very cool! I demand you do more! :p

Excellent progress on the Reaver, keep it up.

26-09-2009, 12:49
Hi you lot !! Im back for the weekend. ( so tired im still half asleep :eyebrows: )

@ the damned artificer: YES, you do, Mate ! But just sligtly :D

@ Tommygun: OOOOOOPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSSS ! Never leave home without your fire-extinguisher !

@ OP master N: Thanks, Mate !

@ T_55: Thanks, Mate ! Ill try to do a small squad of them. I get the torsos from my rough-riders as im also doing them from scout-bikers.
Thought that just trow them into the bits-box would be sad, so i did this test !

Might use them as Stormtroopers or as Greandiers. If i do them as Stormtroopers, i only need to do 5 or 6, but if id do them as Grenadiers, i have to do 10 men.

Have to come back to you on this, Mate !

26-09-2009, 16:11
Even not a great Titans addict, you're work is very interesting and the result really impressive!
As I should have to built one for Apo, I will maybe take some ideas from your post if you agree!

27-09-2009, 17:14
@ le Mediko: Just glad to inspire ! Feel free to use any of my ideas.

BUT......i demand to see the results here on the Forum ! :D

04-10-2009, 16:13
So, now im back from School ! Done some work on the mounting of the head.
This is how it looks sofar, ill add a collar to tidy up the look,someday......

Judge for yourselves.

And heres the backside with tubes.

Back to the plasticard !

04-10-2009, 17:03
She's coming along beautifully, old boy!

04-10-2009, 19:09
Welcome back..

That is looking absolutely fantastic...

Well done, Love the weapon arm too..

Best wishes,

08-10-2009, 20:03
Thanks, ive been doing some coolingfins for the lasblaster. Its looking OK sofar so ill be working on. Sadly i dont have the time to send any pics. today but youll get some when im done with those darn fins !
Also moved the Head up a bit, looks much better.

11-10-2009, 18:59
....and here are those Pics. i promised you !

First, the Head, moved up and back and looking much better IMHO.

Then there was this Gun.......

Its just "laid together" for you to look at and tell me what you think of it !

14-10-2009, 18:31
Dont know if theres anyone looking at this anymore, but heres todays update.

Fixed the mounting of the Blaster and glued on the coolingfins.

This is how far ive come on this gun.

Next comes all the detailwork, and i need to buy some more plastic for that, be back when im done shopping.

14-10-2009, 19:17
I really like the way this is taking.
I think the design is a good one and everything fits together well.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this one finished and painted.

I know projects like this are just taking ages ... as I see with at my Baneblades and my Titans and my Tunderhawk.:D

Keep up the good spirit

I hope more people will post in here

14-10-2009, 19:21
@ D3V!L : Thanks, Mate ! Do appreciate those kind words ;)

Will try to finish this as fast as i can, but i just know it will take forever.......:D

14-10-2009, 21:08

Dont worry I'm still following this thread and your amazing build... it is looking really good now.. its a great improvement moving the head back a bit under the carapace.. and I love the laser blaster. an nice interpretation of the Forgeworld one..

I do like where you are taking this project.. have you had any thoughts yet about which Legion/colour you are going to paint this in when you eventually get to that stage.. Have you found that your Titan has started to develop a 'character' yet..

Continue to inspire..

Best wishes,

15-10-2009, 13:44
Excellent work on that Blaster, old boy! Sorry for nto commenting - busy week with one thing and another!

15-10-2009, 14:03
Great to hear that there are still some people out there :D

@ cthorpe : Glad you liked the head-move as i think it made a great differance.
It sure has a lot of character, it looks like someone who is trying too look hard and does not realy get there :D
Ill paint it to match my Warhound. So itll be from the Imperial Hunters too.
I like to think of them as a small reccon Battlegroup sent to assist my two Guard Forces.

@ MrP : Cheers, Mate ! NO worries. Ive seen your assembly-line ;)

15-10-2009, 19:05
WoW just found this tread and gotta say GREAT work, cant wait to see it painted.

15-10-2009, 19:14
@ nagash66 : Welcome ! Glad you liked it, sorry to say, it will be some time before it gets painted. Hope you keep looking in from time to time.

22-10-2009, 19:55
Finaly got my much needed plastic ! I have now started work on detailing the barrels of the Lasblaster. Will also do the top of that gun look "nicer" somehow.

Then i have to figure out how i should detail the Gatling.............not a clue :eyebrows:

Well im of again, sorry that i did not have any pictures for you today but theyll come, stay calm !

23-10-2009, 00:02
Good to see you back into it, it is looking exceptionally nice!

Bugbait out

23-10-2009, 18:31
Looking forward to seeing the progress.. I just love this project..

Best wishes,

25-10-2009, 21:23
Update time !!

First some shots of how the armour on the guns look and the barrels of the lasblaster with more details, but they are not finished. Enjoy !

....and there you have it !

Please let me know what you think of it all !

Holy Jebus...

the damned artificer
26-10-2009, 02:45
You should get your hands on some photho-etch eagles from forgeworld, they would look really good on your reaver :D It's looking so damn gorgeous dude !! ;D

26-10-2009, 04:58
Very nice.
How many diameters of tubing are you using for the barrels of the lasblaster?

26-10-2009, 10:59
Ooh, that is some beautiful detailing, old boy!

26-10-2009, 14:13
Thanks a lot, Mates !! Realy glad you all liked it.

@ the damned artificer : Welcome back ! Yep, those FW photho-etch eagles are great, BUT, every time ive tried to order from FW, they tell me that my VISA card does not work, wich is stange as i can shop from other stores in other countries with no problem at all ?? !! Ill have to stick with my plastic ones.

@ Tommygun : That will have to be four, from 8-14mm. Anything else, just ask !

@ MrP : ....and it has "staight" rivets allover despite my laziness :D

the damned artificer
26-10-2009, 15:55
Hmm, I've heard about that very same problem with danish visa cards, that's pretty lame.
I've read that a bank transfusion with them could be arranged if you call them, but I'm not sure they should seriously consider accepting paypal them British blokes :P

Anyway, have you considered making some eagles from very thin plasticcard ?? Could look really nice too, and it's alot cheaper than FW, although more time consuming as well. Are you planning on adding any Legio Titanicus markings as well ??

26-10-2009, 19:32
Yep, ill most likely do some sort of Titan Legio T for one of the legs and a Imperial Hunters logo for the other leg and for the carapace.

I then found some very old markings for Reavers in an old WD ( nr. 109 ).
The nice thing is, that it differs between weapon configs too.

So ill most likely add one of these too.

Have thought about doing a larger eagle for the carapace, above the head, from plasticard....but i dont know..........?

B.T.W. ive done the armour on the gatling-gun side too., it only needs rivets.....

26-10-2009, 20:15
OOh looking forward to seeing that..

You are getting some lovely detail on this ... and it is looking great..

27-10-2009, 14:49
Thanks, Mate ! Ill see what i can do about those details..........

27-10-2009, 18:55
Got some new pics. for you !

Heres the lasblaster, almost done......

And heres the gatling, with its armour in place.

Think its turning out quite OK.

the damned artificer
27-10-2009, 19:40
Will you be adding some rivets and stuff to the socket connecting the guns to the hull ?? It could look pretty neat with an extra rim rivetted to the upper edge of it :D

The markings you have planned sounds very cool, and very stylish :D

30-10-2009, 18:41
Yep, ill be doing some sort of rim on top and some rivets here and there.
Ive got a good pic. from Demonrich, so ill base my details on what the FW ones got.

03-11-2009, 14:23
And here are the results of my work, sofar.

Central tube with details....

...and from the back.

Side, with new detail on the weaponmounts.

And again with gun.

Tell me what you think of it.

Im pleased with what ive accomplished sofar.

03-11-2009, 14:24
Sorry for the bad quality of the pics., but you know me by now !

03-11-2009, 18:21
Wow man i think you should work for forge world, that is a
sweet reaver battle titan.

03-11-2009, 21:26
This is moving along very nicely now. I am looking forward to seeing it at the painting stage ;)

the damned artificer
03-11-2009, 23:02
It is some very nice detailing you've done here :D will you be adding smaller rivets to the weapon mount or are you going to leave it as they are now ??
Oh and btw what kind of weapon are you gonna mount on the back of the beast ?? standard apoc. launcher ??
I rate this to be the coolest reaver ever built !

04-11-2009, 00:32
I love the whole project! Keep up the good work!

04-11-2009, 11:06
Delightful detailing as ever, old boy!

04-11-2009, 14:26
@ darktitan01 : For FW !!!! thats saying something, thanks,Mate !

@ Demonrich : Thanks, Mate. Itll be some time before i can start to paint it, though.

@ the damned artificer :Thanks a lot, Mate ! Coolest Reaver, im flatterd !
Yep, ill be adding some small rivets on the upper ring, but thats all.
It ll get a Launcher, but im also thinking about doing something a bit odd.
What, you ask..........well ill tell you when im done with the consept of it. Found it in my old WDs, and its actually for Warlords but my gaming pals have said that theyll let me use it, because its cool !!

@ Thornz : Ill try my best ! :D

@ MrP :Thanks, Mate !

the damned artificer
05-11-2009, 16:24
Looking forward to seeing your design concept ;D Actually you could do a launhcer as well on magnets and have it in reserve for other games. I don't know what you're able to sculpt, or if you have any skills with da green stuff, but could be very cool if you sculpted sculpted them with the old style helmets and suits from Jes Goodwin's artwork, if you don't have the pic I can send it to you :)

06-11-2009, 06:20
@ the damned artificer : I am going to make a Launcher, and as all my weaponmounts are magnetized, i can swap them around as i like.
Or leave it of, for this crazy project. :D

On the sculpting front, if you mean the crew, i have the old Jes drawings, so i know what your aiming at.
Sorry to say, im rubbish when it comes to greenstuff, so ill have to do them in plastic ( as usual ).

Ill be back !

06-11-2009, 16:40
Just relized that ive only posted Pics. of parts of the Reaver lately......................so here it is in its full glory !

Added a Chimera for scale.

How about that ?

Looking massive, dont you think ?

07-11-2009, 00:11
Nice looking.
You should take a picture with him standing next to your warhound.

08-11-2009, 12:44
@ Tommygun : Ill see what i can do about that ;)

Thanks !

OP master N
15-11-2009, 15:08
Nice!!! It's a great piece of imperial machinery...
Looks like he's ready to have his carapace weapon installed... ;)

Have to agree with Tommygun, a scale picture with another titan... would be nice!

15-11-2009, 15:32
really amazing log so far!

are you gonna do an apocalypse missile launcher?

16-11-2009, 19:48
SOOOOO, you want a scale shot ? Like this ?

Maby like this ?

Hope your all pleased :D ( i am )

About that Launcher.....YES i will build one !
I have this idea of puting a Recon Landspeeder platform on the top mount !!
The old Warlords in Epic could have this upgrade....and i just loved the idea !
Me and some Friends are working on the Rules for it, ill tell you later, how it works.

Snap-shot of the idea

You tell me, have i finaly lost it or should i go ahead ??? !!!

16-11-2009, 20:32
I like the idea of the spotting land speeder! And the reaver is beautiful, only the black cable that link the head with the torso is a little too big IMHO but it's overall a beautiful work

16-11-2009, 21:57
Looking really good now.. and I love the idea of the recon speeder.. very old school.. but inspired..

Great work as always..

17-11-2009, 03:52
Thanks for the scale shot. I keep thinking, if I build one, It will not fit into my room.
That size looks workable, but I have soooooo many other projects to do also.

So how would the land speeder work? Would it make all the weapon act as twin linked?

17-11-2009, 12:11
the land speeder is a great idea

i had the same idea with an arvus lighter actually..
might create a landing pad at some later time for my FW reaver

18-11-2009, 01:02
That Reaver is looking great! The idea of having a landspeeder able to land on it will be interesting. Looking forward to seeing what benefits you come up with for it.

OP master N
20-11-2009, 06:49
It kinda makes the warhound look puny...

24-11-2009, 15:51
Yep it does !

Ive started work on the extra armour on the carapace. Large slabs of plasic.
Will also do some sunken rivets on them. ( sorry no pics., yet. )

Sad to say, ill be going away again for more school. This means that ill be gone for three weeks now :( Sorry !

If i find the time, ill try to take some w.i.p. shots for you and try to keep on working when and were i can.........................

Take care !

25-11-2009, 17:43
Okey, heres that pic. i promised you. :D

The Nuts are not glued, just dropped them in for the shot.

Hope you like it.

05-02-2010, 16:09
Hey nice work on the Reaver there SDKFZ. Looking forward to seeing you finish it. Are you going to keep to a similar colour scheme like you painted your warhound?

05-02-2010, 17:00
Nice work there.
Theres really no point in the landing pad upgrade in 40K as there are not any structures in 40k that can block a titans LOS.
In epic where you had titan size buildings the recon land speader allowed you to shoot barrage weapons at any thing the RLS can see and the titan can't.
My epic warlord had the upgrade and dropping 3 barrage templates per titan per turn (while the titan was hiding) was enjoyable.
God I miss those days.

05-02-2010, 17:02
@ Skitter_Critter : Thanks ! Yepp, but my Reaver is currently on hold awaiting a new load of inspiration
I thought of them ( the Warhoynd and Reaver ) as a small scouting force for a larger Titan Battlegroup.

05-02-2010, 17:05
@ Alsharoth : Thanks ! I know, but its such a cool upgrade that i think that ill do it anyway. My gamingmates and i also have another option for it but ill keep that one for later.

26-08-2010, 12:33
SMALL update, to show that i havent laid this one to rest.....yet

Not anything major, but ive done some work on those shield generators.

Done four of them (basics) need four more.

See artificer, i was still working when i broke my elbow :(

26-08-2010, 12:40
Good to see you're still at this, old boy!

26-08-2010, 12:44
Would be a shame to let it rot (my brother plays death guards.....)

Now all i need is to get fit again.

the damned artificer
26-08-2010, 13:40
I'm so glad your back dude, and hope you get your elbow working soon ! Damn I'm so glad now, I'll have to post in here some more to keep you at it ;)

Btw why are you making 8 WSG's ?? Thought the reaver only had 4.

26-08-2010, 20:09
@ the damned artificer: Yeah, thanks a lot, Mate ! :D

I knew this would make you happy........but not this much

The Lucius model im working from has eight, so thats why i do eight of them.
Oh, and the Warhound has two WS and four WSG:s.
Doesnt that make sense ?

The plasticard behind the WSG:s was for measuring how high ang wide the back "shelves" had to be.
They will flank the carapace weaponsmount.

the damned artificer
26-08-2010, 20:42
Ohh it made me very happy :p
Yeah the warhound has 4 small generators but the fw reaver has 4 big ones, what's that all about ?? Anyway I think I'll stick to 4 on my own :P

Brother Alexos
26-08-2010, 22:25
That top hatch on your reaver reminds me of the Inquisition symbol....

This is quality work, and shows what someone can do with some PVC, Plasticard, and spare bitz.

27-08-2010, 06:25
@ the damned artificer: Yepp, i know........wierd.....

Your right, keep it the way youve made it, it looks good.
But, ill still do my eight :D

@ Brother Alexos: That hatch is from the O L D rhino kit, i just use it as a standin for the hatch i will eventually make.

Glad you like it, it takes a lot of work but, i like to do it

the damned artificer
27-08-2010, 08:06
Yeah you do that, then we can make up different classes for our lucie reavers like with the FW lucie warhounds (wolf and Jackall) :chrome:

27-08-2010, 09:04
Sounds like a good idea since they are "related". :D

13-09-2010, 07:33
ITS ALIVE !!!!

Started work on the Reaver (again:rolleyes:). Got the head a new set of tubes. Got a lot of feedback that the old ones were to thick. So now ive gone down some steps.
Also got the rear tubes fixed to the back of the body.

Made some of the extra armour plates for the carapace. They will be fixed with large hexagon bolts like ive shown before.

Here are some pics. for you to look at while i do some more work :D

14-09-2010, 07:42
What is the diameter of the new tubes?

14-09-2010, 10:34
Hey Karl the thinner tubing is looking much better. If I can I will nitpick and say I think they could do with being brought in a bit closer to the sides of the head. Not sure that would be real easy to do though...

I'm liking the new armour plates on the torso too ;)

Keep up the great work!

14-09-2010, 13:00
@ Irondad: Outer diameter 12mm used to be 16mm.

@ Mangozac: Hi there, i tried to make them fit tighter to the head, but they just flex back out again :eyebrows:.
I did use some stiff wire inside, just to get them to stay in shape.
So i think ill just leave them like they are now.

Glad you like those armourpates. I think they look different to what your used to see, but still look 40K.

Thanks !

14-09-2010, 13:43
Redid the mounting for the head. It now features a metal bolt and wingnut.

Started work on the collar as well.

Heres how it look mounted together.

( and, YES ! That bucket is for cleaning up after ive drooled :D )

Feels nice to work on "Her" again.

15-09-2010, 04:19
Yeah I suspected that you couldn't curve the piping any further. So long as you're happy with it that's the main thing. You're very correct about the armour plates: they are different but still maintain that chunky 40k feel.

The last pic looks great, but I still believe - as I've mentioned to you before - that the lower leg armour plating is too square looking. I know this is supposed to be a Lucious pattern and I'm not advocating adding curves, I just think it would benefit from having some more angles rather than the right angled corners.

Great to see some progress again!

the damned artificer
17-09-2010, 19:22
Love it, LOVE IT :D :D :D Finally this gorgeous girl sees some progress, Now I'll have to get more work done on mine as well to keep up ;)

18-09-2010, 18:05
@ Mangozac: Thanks, Mate !
I know, i know. I think i just have to finish the main build and then i can perhaps do another set of legarmour with more angles.
But if i dont get on with it now i just think that ill stall the whole thing again.

@ the damned artificer: Thanks, Mate ! Im doing the top "spoilers" on the top of the carapace right now.

Im of to Germany for some serious bikeriding tomorrow.
Soo, there will not be any progress now for about a five or six days.

Will post some new pics. then.

19-09-2010, 01:19
Yeah I know what you mean about making little sacrifices for the sake of your sanity and finishing the project within a reasonable timeframe. I'm just too much of a perfectionist to do that :P

Hellbrandt Grimm
27-09-2010, 03:08
Great work dude !!

Keep up the good job !!

27-09-2010, 09:09
@ Mangozac: Yepp, i just know that if i start to fix and redo thing ill never finish this Titan.
Ill just have to reach that finish line and then i can go back and give them another shot.
( Have you checked how many times i redid the head ? If not.....
"Been there done that" )

@ Hellbrandt Grimm: Thanks, Mate !

Nice to get some feedback from another Forge World

My computer is on the blink again so i cant up load any new pics. for you.

Ive done some more work on the spoilers and VSGs and also to the connectors for the hoses on the head.

Ill have to see when ill be able to update my pics. again :eyebrows:

the damned artificer
27-09-2010, 10:23
Pray to the Omnissiah that your cogitator will work, it might ease it's machine spirit ;P Mehehehe

But seriousely, looking forward to seeing new pics :D :D

27-09-2010, 14:16
Zomg. You said this would be SLOW! Its faster than you think SDKFZ, just read the whole thread thingy and thought that you have the best 'Scratch' build reaver at Warseer...

Wee want paaaaaint!

Dreff :chrome:

28-09-2010, 07:02
@ the damned artificer: Im trying, im trying :D

Managed to get the pics. working !!!

@ Dreffbuilder: Thanks a lot, Mate !

I thought that i made slow progress, as some people here on the Forum just seam to pour out great models.

Greatest Reaver on Warseer ? ! ? !
THANKS A LOT !!! ( Im blushing............. )

Here are those new shots for you all .

First, heres those new conectors on the Head.

Closeup of one of those spoilers.

And then, with both of them on the carapace.

That area in the back of the spoiler will have a hole cut into it and a meshnet added.

the damned artificer
28-09-2010, 10:10
Neat :D
I like the connectors on the head (which I luckily haven't got to do since I cheated and used spare FW ones :p ) The spoilers look nice too, will the holes in the back area be round like the ones on mine ??
What about the interior of the head, any progress ?? I'm considering to make my moderatii in parts and get them cast so I don't have to do as much work on them for the warlord, if the cast turns out nice I could send you a pair :)

30-09-2010, 07:06
@ the damned artificer: Thanks, Mate !

Ive done all eight of VSGs. Now they need some detailing.
I liked the way yours looked so i also did mine round
But mine are smaller than yours. Ill try to get some pics. of them today, later....

On those conectors......thats cheating ! ! :D

Im working on the head too. No major progress. As mine has another layout than yours and FWs, ill have my screans and stuff in the top piece and the crew in the "hull". This has caused me a lot of thinking-work to get it to fit with the crew in place.

If you do cast them, then YES please ! Were do i send the money ?

Glad to see that youve started to work on yours again too !

Sounds great :D
I'm still totally lost on the VSG's but I really like the way you did yours, like the ones on the Lucius Warhound, So I'll probably try and copy you if I don't get a magnificent revelation telling me otherwise :p

Well cheating it most certainly is, and I'm probably gonna do it again
I'll let you know about the progress of the moderatii and whether or not I'll get some descent casts and then we can work something out ;)

30-09-2010, 09:10
@ the damned artificer: Go right ahead, Mate ! Heres how those VSGs look now.

Heres that vent ( for the arm heatsinks ? )

AND FINALY.......some pics. of my cockpit !!

Hope you like them. Not fully done yet, but its moving

Having second thoughts about those old Rhino doors. Might use them afterall. They look very much like what i have on my reference pictures.
Only need to add hinges to the ones for the arms.
The front one needs more work however.....

Keep me posted on theat Moderatii front.

the damned artificer
30-09-2010, 10:11

This is really awesome :D

I'd do the hinges on the rhino doors on the side, and then ditch the one on the front carapace and do something else :)

Also the holes look awesome, The reason why mine are so big is because I'm planning on fitting in some fans that should be visible through the grid :D

30-09-2010, 11:54
@ the damned artificer: Glad you liked it, Mate !

About those doors, what you wrote, is probably what ill do. Have to see how they turn out.

Great idea with those fans. Love to see how they look when youve done them.

A friend on another Forum gave me an idea. Leave four of the VSGs loose so you can remove them to keep track of how many youve got left.
Clever Lad !

It'll probably be the next thing I do and will make sure to post pics ;)

Yeah saw a youtube video with a guy who'd magnetise the VSG's of his FW chaos reaver for the same reason, it's very practical :P
I've seen a guy over at Dakkadakka install lights to simulate broken VSG markers, if you have a bit of electronics skills it could be cool to hollow them out and drill the holes through so the lights come out, and then have a switch installed that could turn them off when a shield is lost :P

30-09-2010, 13:47
@ the damned artificer: Lights sounds great ! But ill have to tear the whole carapace apart again to do the switches and wires.
Sorry, not for me. Ill have to stick to removing mine :chrome:

Do you want to see some more of that cockpit ?

Here you are !

Ohyea, the guy in the princepschair is NOT my princeps model ;)
Hes just a standin to let you see how it will look with all three crewmembers onboard.
The Moderatiis also lack their backrests on their chairs.

Let me know what you think, please !

the damned artificer
30-09-2010, 14:07
The cockpit looks really great ! Especially the shins to slide the chair to one side to get out, that's insanely well designed :D
The crew looks good, but it's hard to see the helmets of the moderatii, so a eye level shot please :chrome: Although they are a bit big in my opinion :)

30-09-2010, 14:28
@ the damned artificer: Thanks, Mate !

You noticed those rails, great ! Didnt know if i should mention them or see if someone found out what they were.
Did choose the last option....and....you noticed them, and knew what they were for ! GREAT !

About those Moderatii helmets.....Hey, theire Spaceballs what did you think ? :D

The helmets are standard SM issue, you know the size, with the front removed and the cadian vox mouthpiece added.
I like the look so i guess they stay ;)

30-09-2010, 15:00
Soon paint perhaps?

Cockpit... looks... good... I... lost... my... words... Brilliant!
Some finnish retards think swedish people suck... "Well, there is something good in them too..." I think... But i hope you're not great Icehockey fan? :D Well I'm not...

30-09-2010, 15:37
Gorgeous work mate! :)
But... how can the crew get out of the cockpit?

the damned artificer
30-09-2010, 15:51
Gorgeous work mate! :)
But... how can the crew get out of the cockpit?

Hehe if you read my last post, or SDKFZ's for that matter you'll get your answer ;P

SDKFZ: I actually think the size might be different IRL but the white chest armour is disrupting the perspective a bit, it has a tendancy to do that as it looks like your only looking at the helmet, When they get the same colour or just a basecoat that will probably change :) I'd do some rivets along the the exhaust(the mohawk one on top of the helmet that is) as the FW ones have to give it a bit of detail.

30-09-2010, 18:07
@ Dreffbuilder: Thanks !

Sorry, painting is still a long way down the road. Got lots of things to build before im done and can start on the paintjob.

You dont have to worry.....i dont care about sports that dont include some sort of wheels ;)

@ Gustovic: Thanks ! And like the damned artificer wrote, the answer is in his reply. The princeps chair moves sideways to let the crew get out.

@ the damned artificer: Your right, it might be the white playing with the light.
Thanks for the info. on the rivets on their helmets, have to see if i can do something about that.

01-10-2010, 10:17
Small update. Started to work on the princeps. Not much done, but its a start.

Have to figure out how hes going to be holding his left hand.....

Did some rivets on tose Moderatii. I also did a piece that runs from the top to the "ears" on both sides.

Got the spoilers in place. Added some small things to liven them up a bit. Need to do some riveting here later.

Did some hinges for that Rhino door. Turned out nice, i think.
Now i have to do those "stairs" at the front of the shoulder and the armour piece that hangs from the bottom.

Hellbrandt Grimm
01-10-2010, 11:06
Nice job man !! Your drivers are realy cool !!

the damned artificer
01-10-2010, 15:46
The rivets is a very nice touch right ? ;) It really breaks up the parts and makes the helmets less notable as marine helmet conversions. Your level of detail is tight as ever, and I'm gonna have to bring my best game to match the high level on my own reaver :chrome:
Ohh and Btw, the opus machina on the left moderatii (the one on the right in the pic) is stuck upside down to his chest ??

02-10-2010, 07:20
@ Hellbrandt Grimm: Thanks, glad you like them. :)

@ the damned artificer: Yep, it made a big differance !
The way ive come to know you i dont think youll have such a hard time to match me, Mate :D

About that Opus Machina.............the moderatii was given a very harsh straiting up by mister Kommisar and now has cleaning duty for the rest of this project. :chrome:

Thanks, Mate !

the damned artificer
02-10-2010, 08:56
I'll do my best not to disappoint :D
That Moderatii better clean up his act then, can't endanger the health of the holy reavers machine spirits. I find the punishment to be suitable, and remember to whipe clean his memory waffers an extra time before the next walk ;P

Have you figured out what you'll do with the front carapace yet ??

02-10-2010, 18:11
@ the damned artificer: No, but ill do a brandnew hatch for that one.
Its made up of four parts so there will be much work.

Have on the other hand done one side of the carapace - the wing.

Also did some new vents for the spoiler.

Did the extra armour for the front although.

Thats it for today.

the damned artificer
03-10-2010, 00:43
Okay sounds interesting :D
The "wing" looks very nice, will there be steps on there as well ??

03-10-2010, 17:20
@ the damned artificer: Dont think so. Will do some sort of straps with rivets.
Thinking of adding some eagles there too......havent decided yet.

Btw the wing was not yet added in that shot. Heres how it looked during construction and after.

And here sanded and fixed in place.

Am doing the other side now. Have to see when i get it done so i can take some pics. of it.

03-10-2010, 20:33
Sorry, just have to post some pics. of it put togheter.

And a look from above.

Starting to look like some thing, dont you think ? :D

the damned artificer
03-10-2010, 20:41
OMG that looks so mean :D Iĝll put up some pics of my reavers head in a moment :D

04-10-2010, 06:47
Found a picture of how that top/front hatch looks. Its not round at the back like i thought, so that makes it easier. :)

Sadly i also found out that i need to do eight more mounting bolts for the extra armour on the carapce. :(
Tough now that they are mounted to the Titan.

Well, well back to the plasticard then.

04-10-2010, 07:11
Did some new pics. in better light conditions.

Now with Commisar :D

From the back.

All the details show up much better in daylight.

the damned artificer
04-10-2010, 08:34
It looks even better in day light ;)
Is the Gatling cannon done, or still W.I.P. ? It seems a bit blank compared to the rest of the model :)

04-10-2010, 10:04
@ the damned artificer: Nepp, its not done, yet. It still lacks loads of details plus its ammo hopper. Im having trubble with how i want to detail it.

And ive been thinking of making a Meltacannon for him instead.....:shifty:

Anyhow, thanks !

the damned artificer
04-10-2010, 10:51
Uhh uhh a melta cannon :D Sounds neat :chrome:

05-10-2010, 06:36
Nothing major today. Done some small details like the "cogs" on the pipes at the back and started on the top weapons mount.

Doing a test with some relief icons like t.d.a. had on his but smaller and in plastic.

Ill post some pics. when im pleased.

06-10-2010, 06:59
Here are some more pics.

The T symbol.

Still need some riveting.

The back with newly "pimped" conectors.

And the humble start of my Meltacanon. ( ill redo the cover at the back since its twisted :( )

Have to say thanks to the Guys at Tanks and Sandtrolls for their short how to do a Meltacanon info.

the damned artificer
06-10-2010, 07:12
The T is absolutely awesome ! actually so is the rest :p Those connectors are cool as hell :D

06-10-2010, 11:11
@ t d a: Thanks, Mate ! Cred for that T has to go to you, as it was you who mounted it on a cog first. ( for me atleast. )

Trying to do more work on the Melta, but i dont seem to find the time i want. :(

Done some progress, so new pics. tonight.

the damned artificer
06-10-2010, 11:21
Well I must admit I stole it from FW ;) check the iconography on the reaver I believe it is there like 3 different places, or two and as an extra icon :p

Looking forward to the update pics, and will see if I can get some progress done tonight myself :D

06-10-2010, 18:58
@ t d a: Hey ! I didnt see them ? Im turning blind, must be all this fumes from glue and paint.
Your absolutly ritght, the are allover.

As i said earlier, havent had time to do that much, but heres a small update on the Meltacannon.

Still needs lots of work. But i feel that im progressing better with this one than the Gatlingblaster.

And just as your starting to feel happy, disaster strikes.................i only have enough plastic-tube for one barrel. :wtf:

Dont know when ill get around to go to my Hobby store to get more.

the damned artificer
06-10-2010, 20:46
I hate to run out of supplies, some logistics servitor must fry for this !! :p

But anyhow it looks good, I'm guessing the barrels will go on the left side, opposite of the thingie protruding from the main body of the weapon ? :D
I'll need to start working on my las blaster as well :P

07-10-2010, 12:24
Hi SDKFZ! Lovly titan!
Its going to be a blast throwing vortex granedes at it :)

10-10-2010, 16:51
Havent had time to build much. Started work on the heatshield.
Still a long way to go, but its moving, its moving..

Not as good as some of you other guys, but as good as i can do it :D

Now i only need to do the other side and fill in the misstakes.

Commisar for scale, on request.

@ t d a: Hope this pic. explains.

@ -Bobo-: NO YOU DONT !

10-10-2010, 20:08
Not as good as some of you other guys, but as good as i can do it :D

Dude... don't beat down on yourself.. Its epic work!!! I always enjoy seeing any and all progress u make :D

the damned artificer
10-10-2010, 20:34
Stop being so modest dude, it's looking great ;) Find me a scratch built melta cannon that looks better than yours, I haven't :D

And I can see from the picture that it was as I assumed :P

12-10-2010, 14:12
@ Dimitrios: Thanks ! Feedback like this makes me want to do more

@ t d a: Thanks, Mate ! Look at Tanks and Sandtrolls................they rock !!!

Made some progress (again) on the Melta.

Now with more "holes".

It only needs its side shield and some more rivets and .............

What do you think ?

12-10-2010, 14:21
Looking absolutely great so far...

Glad to see work on this baby continuing, and loving the detail you into her..

Continue to inspire..

Best wishes,

the damned artificer
12-10-2010, 15:47
Your talking about buldogUK's stuff right ?? Well he's probably the one exception yes, but other than him you're in the melta lead ;)

14-10-2010, 19:38
@ cthorpe: Thanks a lot, Mate !

@ t d a: Yepp, he/they are just unbelievable  ( just look at all their toys....sigh.. )

Not in the lead, i only did the second one  ( Bulldog did nr: 1 )

A small detail update for you all.

And the whole thing.

C & C welcome as usual.

Started on the shield aswell but ill save thatone for later.
It will look more like the ones on my other Reaver weapons. More Lucius style with plates riveted together.

the damned artificer
14-10-2010, 22:07
Wanna see it on dude :D it looks damn good, and will you be makinh a new shield or just re using the old one ??

16-10-2010, 19:45
Well, your wishes do come true, Mate !

Here it is on the Reaver with its new shield. I did it smaller as not to obscure to much of the detailwork.
The original one is T-shaped so i did mine as one slab of armour.

Still needs more details on top and on the inside.

Did some small detailing work on the armour behind the head too.

Hope you like it.

the damned artificer
16-10-2010, 21:37
I love it ! :D
And I see you got some photo etch as well, very nice ;)

16-10-2010, 22:02
This guy is crazy !!!

Love it !! Keep up the good job !!

19-10-2010, 04:32
@ t d a: Thanks ! Yepp, those etching look ace. A friend of mine decided that he was going to help me get them :D

@ Hellbrandt Grimm: Crazy ? Lets see...... who did all of those rivets on his Warlord ? :D

Thanks a lot, Mate !

Im not geting anything done at the moment. Need to do that launcher.

Well lets see in a day or four

19-10-2010, 05:38
Cool... I saw that mug on the table and thought as follows:
'What? Is that the Finnish bravery Lion on that mug?" And i noticed that its not..

Reaver is nearing completion!
Keep it up!

20-10-2010, 09:48
Beautiful work on the Meltacannon! It's such a cool design and you're certainly doing it justice ;)

And of course great work all round. She's looking great!

20-10-2010, 14:53
@ Dreffbuilder: Thanks ! That mug i painted some 15 years ago when my wife did some "china-cup" painting. I tried to do some sort of SW type of heraldic wolf :shifty:

@ Mangozac: Thanks, Mate ! Glad you like it. Its not as good as Bulldogs, but im rather pleased with it.
I just couldnt get the details on the gatlingblaster to work for me so i had to do another gun or i would just have stalled again.

The overall look of this Reaver is better then i hoped for so i guess it worked.
Ill have to "revisit" it later and perhaps redo some of those armoured-plates

20-10-2010, 18:32
Done some panels to go "under the arms"

Done and mounted the left side ones.

Still working on the righthand side one.

N O..................ive not done any goood progress on tha launcher

20-10-2010, 20:11
This is just pure awsome!

Keep up the good work, can't wait too see this finished

03-11-2010, 20:14
Well ive had my hands full as we found more fungus in our house :(

Havent had time to do much on the Reaver.

Just fixed the panel on the right side.

Added some more details.

Have to start working on that launcher.......

the damned artificer
03-11-2010, 22:51

But on the bright side, your reaver still looks amazing, and I get equally excited every time there's an update ;)

So our reaver is always so amazing !!

04-11-2010, 20:19

Right now i need all the backup i can get.

@ Brother Alexos: Yep, but i secretly think its my orkgaming friend whos trying to take over my "forge world" :wtf:

@ t d a and Hellbrandt Grimm: Glad you Guys still like it !

If im lucky i might get started on the launcher this weekend.
Cross your fingers :D

I am so sorry to hear this. I do demolition for a living and I know that when you get mold its damn hard to get rid of. I wish you all the best with your 'never ending fight'.

Man, everytime I pop into this log I am just blown away. The amount of time and effort you have put into this is inspiring. I look at my poor warhound in pieces in a box and just weep for its future. Thank you for posting this and letting us ' un-augmented fleshbags' into your forgeworld. ;)

05-11-2010, 18:31
@ t d a: :D

@ FabricatorGeneralMike: Thanks ! The fight goes on.

Glad to be of assistance :D Glad to hear that you like my work.

Is your Warhound a FW one or home-made ?

Im very fortunate to have a very understanding wife, who when she notices that im unhappy, tells me : - Why dont you go and build some more titans or tanks ?

Think she knows me quite well by now.......:D

06-11-2010, 20:22
Guess that the fingercrossing helped some ;)

Got all my measurements and have started on the launcher.

I will use the ammo from the baneblade to make the rockets.
( strange, that one have all those eleven rounds in my bitsbox :shifty: )

Not done that much building but heres a shot of the humble start anyhow.

@ t d a: I might still do it "your" way as it will look way cooler than the original one.

07-11-2010, 08:31
Oh, here has happened so much when I was off. Man you're the luckiest and unluckiest guy in Sweden... Sorry to hear the problems. But the good thing is that you have a understanding wife. :)

Now to the big sized thing:

the damned artificer
07-11-2010, 10:55
The launcher is looking very promising dude, and I think you should do it the way we talked about earlier ;)

On another note, the grey panel like thing on the waist part, right underneath the new panel, is that gun batteries from BFG ?? they look awesome, and I.ve been a bit jealous of those for a while now :P

I'll have to start working more on mine, or else you'll end up finishing before me :D

07-11-2010, 14:13
@ Dreffbuilder: Thanks, Mate ! Yapp, i consider myself very lucky to have a wife like mine.

There will be a lot of rocketbuilding in my future......

@ t d a: Yes, i thinks so too. The version we talked aboute is alot better. The original one is just to plain.

Ay, Mate ! Those are BFG parts that ive stolen from a friends bitzbox. I too find them very "juicy".
I think there was two of them on each of the imperial sprues.

Glad to hear that now its me whos out in front for ones : )

Back to the plasticard.

12-11-2010, 05:18
Give us update!!!!!!! Wanna see more awesome things! Well in this case i mean your Reaver :shifty:

12-11-2010, 16:31
@ Dreffbuilder: Sorry, but as im now also working on my house, i dont have as much time as before for my poor plasticard.

I hope that i can get some thing done this weekend. Who knows......

13-11-2010, 02:21
@ t d a: :D

@ FabricatorGeneralMike: Thanks ! The fight goes on.

Im very fortunate to have a very understanding wife, who when she notices that im unhappy, tells me : - Why dont you go and build some more titans or tanks ?

Think she knows me quite well by now.......:D

Mine is a home-made one. Im using the 'usual' templates but pimping it up a little myself. If I ever get a camera I might get back working on it :shifty:.
(It might also help me get my a$$ in gear and paint my Sisters of Battle army ive been planing in my mind for the last year or so. I got the models now I just need to do the work.)

My GF is the same way, she tells me to 'go play in my man-cave'. Damn its nice to have women like that isn't it? ;)

Your work is very inspiering. Your attention to detail is amazing and your plastic card-fu is out of this world.

13-11-2010, 08:42
@ FabricatorGeneralMike: If my work can get you back on track, itll make me very happy !
Cool that you have a SoB ( doesnt that stand for something else....? ) Army, theres not that many sisters Armys you see these days.
Cheers for Gf/wifes that let you do your hobby stuff !

Thanks for all the kind words, Mate !

Hope i can find the time to work on the launcher this weekend.

13-11-2010, 19:12
Well have had a little time to work on my Titan again.

As usual, not any mountains of work but slowly making my way forward.

The front of the launcher. ( its just "laid-together" so you can see how it will look. )

Still needs to get rid of some rough edges.

Heres the ammo to go with it.

Now thats a lot of rounds :D

17-11-2010, 18:53
Just a quickie......

The shape of things to come.

It will be around 15 cm long.

Sorry for the crappy shots.

18-11-2010, 08:14
oooh, nice! Thats a pretty beast looking launcher.

18-11-2010, 20:00
OH MY GOSH! I don't know how I missed this thread, but that atrocity will not go unpunished. The level of detail that you have on this is simply amazing! Keep it up.

19-11-2010, 04:21
Wow great work. I hate my puter I had a nice big long post and it just ate it =o[. Well anyways short story after reading the Tempest Fugitives Cult Mechanicus Codex, im really tempted to start work on the titan and a mechanicus army. I think ill try to pick up a camera this weekend. You and the blog should get my rear in gear to do some work on it.

As always, beautiful work. I wish we could get you into forgeworld and make some goodies for us there. ;) I look foward to seeing more of this labour of love being completed.

This bad boy is pure awesome win, kudos to you my friend and your scratch building skills.

19-11-2010, 09:06
Wow thats impressive. Sure you dont work for forgeworld? LOL. Anyway great work definatly keeping my eye on this log.

19-11-2010, 19:30
Thanks a lot, Mates ! Glad to hear that you like my work. :)

Sad to say, no FW has never called back

Hope that i get the basic structure done this weekend and perhaps even get started on the armouredcovers.

Ill post some new pics. when i have something to show you.

....and thanks again !

My friends tell me i have to many super heavies, but i dont know......

Mr P told me theres no such thing as to many SHs :D

Two Titans, two Leman Russ Companies, eleven super heavies ( Tanks )
and some fliers.
Im rather pleased. :D

My mate has a Great Gargant so theres no problem

On topic, Have not had enough free time to work on the launcher.
But ive got a new showcase for my Titans. Bought it from IKEA for some 50 Euros, not bad. Only sad thing is that my Reaver is so tall that i cant use the third level.

So it will only hold my Reaver and the Warhound and later another project i have had in my mind now for some weeks.........got all the parts just need to finish the other stuff first. :D

21-11-2010, 17:18
Looking great so far.. and awaiting your new projects with great anticipation..

Continue to inspire!!

Best wishes,

My friends tell me i have to many super heavies, but i dont know......

Mr P told me theres no such thing as to many SHs :D

Two Titans, two Leman Russ Companies, eleven super heavies ( Tanks )
and some fliers.
Im rather pleased. :D

My mate has a Great Gargant so theres no problem

There is no such thing as To many Super Heavies that like saying you have to many models in a Adeptus Mechanicus army, or that a army is done. It just doesn't happen. ;)

I can't wait to see some snap shots of the Titan repair & re-fit silo. Humm, now I think you have to make the display case look like a Titan silo or pen :shifty: . Arn't new ideas just great. =o]

24-11-2010, 16:23
Well a Titan Hangar sounds great.............might have to try that.........later. :D

Heres a pic. of the new "greenhouse"

Just done some minor work on the launcher, not worth showing. :(

04-12-2010, 18:15
Well finaly i have finished the frame on the Apoc. launcher.

The launcher on the Titan.

Rear exhaust system.

Now all it needs is all the details. :D

04-12-2010, 19:04
Wow, this just gets better and better =o]

Thank you for sharing this with us, I dl'ed the Cult Mechanicus Codex from the Tempest Fugitives, I must say I rather like it. Looks like a nice template to build a army from. ;)

I can't wait to see the R&R titan silo, im shure it will look amazing one day.

05-12-2010, 15:35
Yep, Mike, one day :D So many projects, so little time.....

Have to start making the armourplates for the launcher soon.

05-12-2010, 18:09

Love the look of that launcher.. looks very intimidating..

Great work as always..

Best wishes,

05-12-2010, 18:24
Dude it's awesome !! And huge too, it looks terrifying ;) And that glass cabbinet, that makes me jealous !

24-12-2010, 13:52

From the SDKFZ Forge World. :D

24-12-2010, 14:11
It really gives you that "Peace on Earth" feeling. Great stuff! Happy Holidays.

25-12-2010, 15:57
Long time no post! Whoa. Its almost ready! Just paint is needed or is there something else?

25-12-2010, 17:18
@ Vex: : Thanks ! Yes, dont it ! :D

@ Dreffbuilder: LOL ! Sorry, Mate ! There is loads left on this poor Titan.
It still need the armourplates on the launcher + details and then theres the head.........needs lots of work still....:(
And i have a hard time finding time to work on it now that we are rebuilding the house.

29-12-2010, 18:27
Well.....im back !

Done some details on the launcher.

Sanded the front smooth.

Have started on the armourplates too, but no pics. of them yet.

As the title says: -SLOW !

Oh and if i forget.......HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY !!

30-12-2010, 03:08
Looking ace dude ! :D
I'll see if I can get some updates soon as I did quite a lot of different work in the holidays until now :)

01-01-2011, 13:52
Yes the title is correct now... I've been waiting an update here in the cold room... :D

Great job!

01-01-2011, 16:29
Just awesome, well done

04-01-2011, 20:27
NOW ive had some time to work on the Titan again.

So without further delay, here are the latest update pics. !

Launcher top.

Launcher back.

Launcher side.

Launcher front.

And heres the launcher on the Reaver.

Ive used the Leman Russ searchlights on the Titan as i thought that the ones on the Epic model looks to big in 40k scale.

Hope this makes you all happy

Thanks for your encouragement, Guys !

04-01-2011, 20:39

Nearly ready to paint. :D Won't that be fun! Noooooooooo!

04-01-2011, 21:45
Such vision and dedication to accomplish such a wonderful Reaver build!

the damned artificer
04-01-2011, 22:39
Damn that looks great !! Dude I am very jealous of your launcher, it's awesome :D

How far are you from the painting stage ?? Work on mine will presume soon as well :D

05-01-2011, 07:33
Thanks Mates !

@ Colonel Jacka: With my painting.......well, well just have to wait and see how it turns out ;)

@ Vex: Goes to show that if you only stay focused ( Yhea, right ! ) you can do great things

@ t d a: Not that far of.......but still needs more work. I need to finish the head. Loads of work there, still.
The weapons need more details on their upper parts too.
Then theres the front top hatch on the carapace. Ive started but it needs more work.

So, its not that far away now, Mate ! :D

Well i think the Launcher turned out nicely. To me it looks like the blend of the FW one and the Lucius (Epic ) one, just as i wanted it.

Glad to hear that there will be progress on your Engine too soon.
Looking forward too seeing more of your great work, Mate !

05-01-2011, 07:37
Awesome Mate! Awesome! Looking forward to the progress.

05-01-2011, 08:12
Really nice!
Well, Happy New Year to you too.
It's nice to see you're back at your epic (not in scale) project, and I look forward to the coming updates.
I think the LR Searchlights are a very good choice.

05-01-2011, 19:32
@ Colonel Jacka: :D stay tuned....

@ Klaus: Thanks, Mate ! Great words coming from you

Made the mountings for the searchlights. They were a pain to do as they tilt two ways.

Been thinking............do you think i should add the "T" ( ill split it in two ) ?

Please tell me what you think !

the damned artificer
05-01-2011, 20:04
Yes add the T, it'll look awesome :D
I'm working on my reaver as I write, and I'm very much in doubt about the search lights. They seem a bit silly imo, considering that a titan has no real use for them. So I'm considering making two lense arrays instead, as a form of targeting devices.

05-01-2011, 20:13
I love the progress you are making on this beauty.. continue to delight and inspire..

Best wishes,

06-01-2011, 08:40
@ cthorpe: Thanks, Mate ! Ill do my best.

@ t d a: Then it will get its "T" ! Hope progess is good on your Engine.

As for the searchlights, the Warhounds also got some sort of lights in the nose and beside the head, so i think ill keep them. They might be for the grunts on the ground and not for the Titan itself

Did some work on the head. Did some of the banding and aded the lenses in the eyes.

It needs more banding around the eyes and at the back and then there are all the rivets but it moving along. :D

07-01-2011, 08:16
The top of the head almost done ! :chrome:

Notice that ive put clear plasic over the "eyes".

Heres how the top hatch is doing.

Deus Machinator !

07-01-2011, 08:48
wow, I've followed this from the beginning but it now looks great!

How tall is it? If thats an Ikea cabinet its in then I think its got to be quite big (its certainly a lot larger than the armorcast one).

the damned artificer
07-01-2011, 11:43
The head looks so amazing !!!! I've had the same idea about putting glass in the cockpit, and seeing yours I definitely will, it looks great :D
About the search lights, you are quite right about the warhound, but seeing as it's scout titan the search lights makes more sense, and theyre mounted in the head which makes them really useful. Another thing about the reaver is its height, its almost twice as high as a warhound and the search lights are mounted on its shoulders ?? Doesn't make sense to me, besides it's a battle titan, it doesn't care as much for ground troops as warhounds do :chrome: And the FW mars pattern reaver doesn't sport any, as far as I remember. That said it still looks cool as hell on yours, and is very true to the original design :D

The top hatch looks awesome too, I'd go for a name plate thingie on the low rounded part, and loads of rivets.

07-01-2011, 12:12
Just a thought. they could be infra-red searchlights to illuminate the enemy in the dark without revealing titans location..

This build gets better and better..

Klaus, not Santa
07-01-2011, 13:43
Great looking head - I really love the clear plastic over the eyes :)
Did you glue it on already?
The reason I ask is that I forgot to paint the stuff behind first, and on my first use I had to rip it back off, as I still needed to paint the stuff behind the "glass" :(

07-01-2011, 16:47
Small steady steps towards a complete scratch-built reaver. Looks very promising SDKFZ :)

07-01-2011, 20:08
First of, thanks alot, guys !

@ Sleazy: Your right, its IKEAs cabinet ! Its About 46cm/18inch high. I tried to make it as tall as the FW one but i have now from pictures here on the forum found out that its a tad to tall :shifty:
Must be a SDKFZ-Forge special :chrome:

@ t d a: You can be sure that ill add all the usual rivets before im done.
Been thinking about a scroll on that same hatchpart that you proposed.
Consider it there !

@ cthorpe: Hope so, hope so  ( hope i can keep this up.... )

@ Klaus: No worries, Mate ! They are only put in place with some spit

Ive done the same misstake as you before, so now i take great care not to let things get out of hand and move ahead to fast.
The sensors will be painted before i glue the "glas" on.

@ Ridicule: Slow and steady wins the race ;)
Hope the finished Reaver will please you, it still needs MY painting......darn...

07-01-2011, 20:30
Can't believe I missed this log - amazing work SDKFZ!

The searchlights could be for pinpointing enemy footsoldiers for the Reaver's support troops to mop up - a bit like the hunter killer in Terminator 2 does- just point out where the bad guys are so it can save its main ordinance for enemy superheavies/armour/titans.

10-01-2011, 19:16
I've seen your painting, it's good. Just put alot of hard work into painting that reaver and it will look great :)

11-01-2011, 13:15
@ Ridicule: Ill try my best and hopfully it will end up looking something like my Warhound.
If that works, im pleased and hope you are too :D

Im rebuilding my/our kitchen, its down to bare walls now, so i dont know when ill be able to work on the Reaver again.
Its hard to cook without a stove and to wash up without a sink

Hope to have a new update by the end of this week, but im not sure.

11-01-2011, 22:14
From scratch built tanks, Reavers, etc. and now a scratch built kitchen? ;)

12-01-2011, 11:04
@ Vex: Well, not scratch, im using pre-made parts so it has to be some sort of kit-bash :D

Done some small detailwork on the underside of the head. Hatches and pipes and stuff, you get the idea.
I think im almost done with the outside of the head now.
Also did the details that i had left on the turbolaser. Now all it needs ar some gunsights.

Still need to do the small parts on the melta however.....

Oh and the banner thingey for the front top hatch.

The cockpit will have to wait.

I want to start to paint this engine..........

12-01-2011, 14:26
Melta...front hatch...cockpit....engine? That's going to be one heck of a kitchen. Post photos WIP. ;)

12-01-2011, 17:17
Awesome progress, even though there's no pics :D I'm in the process of laying the last touches on the legs, and that'll leave me with the main body and the crew to detail before it's complete :D I'm starting painting of the finished parts tonight so hopefully I'll have pics by late night/ early morning :D

12-01-2011, 19:17
@ Vex: :D Yeah right !

@ t d a: Just cause you asked so nice.........here are the pics.

Heres that top hatch.

Next post !

12-01-2011, 19:21
The underside of the head.

And here are the markings for Reaver and its class ( Hun ).

There you are !

Hope to see some update pics. on your Reaver soon then t d a. Best of luck with the painting ( you lucky b*****d ).

the damned artificer
12-01-2011, 19:51
Ohh praise the omnissiah, I absolutely love the level of detail you have !!! And thanks :D I just basecoated the legs 5 min ago :chrome:

Especially I love your designation marks for the reaver, the axe is a very cool and old school touch, Which I considered myself but didn't know if I liked. So I might just ad one for my own ;)

13-01-2011, 19:33
@ t d a: Well judging from your pics. they will have to be "retrofitted".
I mean, youve already painted the legarmour pieces.

Done more detailing work allover the Reaver.
A shipload of new rivets, spacers for the armour on the guns and new fronts for the meltacanon.
Also did some detailwork on the conector, under the front of the carapace, for the head.

The list of to do things is getting shorter and shorter. :D

the damned artificer
14-01-2011, 07:44
Yeah you are quite right :) But my plan was to get the basic model painted and then be able to ad extra iconography as I saw fit along the way, it also gives me the advantage that I can paint the stuff before I attach the pieces. I've also left the fw skulls and opus machina of the model as they need a good paint job and that'll be easier to do before fitting.

Updates sounds great dude, but you know: Pics or it didn't happen ;) hehe

14-01-2011, 20:24
@ t d a: Do you plan to superglue the insignia on, as normal plastic glue dont stick very well to paint ?

You want pics. ?

Well here you are, Mate !
Melta fronts.

spacer on the Laser.

Head conector.

Top of Carapace.

Okey, now have i done them ?

Feels like im getting close......

15-01-2011, 19:51
Well, well. Some pages ago t d a told me that he thought that i should get some "real" mesh for my engine-hatch.
I wrote that i thought that it would be to much work to redo them, but ive changed my mind.
I give up..........you win ! :D

Oh, and heres the pic. to show that ive actually made the change.

Hope your pleased, i am !

the damned artificer
15-01-2011, 21:39
Yay I win !!! :D
Hehe it looks really great and I love the detail you've added. Where did you get your mesh from ?? just to get back to that particularly pleasing subject ;)

15-01-2011, 21:44
@ t d a: Glad you liked it ! Its from my local hobbystore in Helsingborg.
It sells in frets of about 10cm to 4cm.

Just finished doing cables from the legs to the groin piece. Two larger and two finer. No pics. tough......sorry

16-01-2011, 10:09
Wohoooo! the beast is almost done! Good job mate!

16-01-2011, 18:10
Yepp ! ITS AS GOOD AS DONE !!!! :chrome:

I just need to do that strange thing at the bottom of the Melta.
And then theres the Cockpit, but......

Heres a pic. of those cables i did yesterday.

Then i thought that it would be nice to have some pics. of "her" before i slab the paint on, so heres a walk around.
Please enjoy !

16-01-2011, 18:14
Back ! :D

And there you have it !

Its taken A LONG TIME to do, but now i feel im done with the building and the next update will include paint.

Oh, and THANKS, for staying with me through all this time, Mates !

Just saw that its been TWO YEARS in the making !!!!!

16-01-2011, 23:09
That is THE model...
Congratulations for finishing such a monster with so many crisps and imaginative details on all parts.
If there is maybe one point I think you could ever improve, it could be the cable. I see this lady with more of them especially around legs and weapons attaches.
Well, doesn't matter in fact, definitvly a great work.

18-01-2011, 15:08
This looks awesome! I hope you are going to put as much care into painting it!

All of the extra details you have added have really made it that extra bit special. You maybe went a little over the top on the number of void shield generators though ;)

The melta cannon in particular looks very good. I also like how the weapon mounts are verticle, rather than the angled Forge World ones. It makes more sense.

It is certainly one of the best titan scratch builds that I have seen. I think maybe the cables on the head could have been a bit smaller, especially in comparison to the ones between the legs. It might just be that they stand out due to being black, and will blend in more when painted.

I bet it will look awesome on the gaming table, and would fit right in next to the Forge World versions!

Let me know if you want any help with the painting ;)

18-01-2011, 22:09
Good job mate now lets see this baby painted.

19-01-2011, 05:52

Paint is coming?

19-01-2011, 10:54
Just read through this mega thread and I am mightily impressed, if you'll pardon the pun.

I love the way everyone seems to take on the challenge of building a reaver for themselves but your efforts are in a class of their own! Well done sir!

I can not wait to see it painted.

19-01-2011, 12:40
SDKFZ... well done. this baby is looking fantastic..

As you know I have been following this build since the beginning and I have to say you have not dissapointed in any way, infact this whole thread has been inspirational..

I'm now looking forward to the painting stage..

Continue the great work...

Best wishes,

19-01-2011, 18:31
Thanks for all the feedback, Guys !
SO GLAD you like it ! :D

@ le Mediko: A friend of mine is "working" on the cable issue. Sad to say i dont know how long this will take but when i get them i can add som more and change some of the ones i have now.

@ Demonrich: Ill try to paint it the best i can (witch is not half as good as you would do it ;)). It will look something like my warhound, so if that one looks OK then, so should this one.
Ill call on your expertice if i run into any problems with the paintwork. If i may ?

Dont worry the rest of you it will get its paintwork !

Only to happy to inspire !

Hopfully ill get some sort of update this weekend.

23-01-2011, 18:02
Update, now with paint ( well undercoated and basic colors on the legs and armour. )

The pistons that i havent painted will be mithril-silver. Still this is just the basics. I will add a highlight with desertyellow and then the mottling with rottingflesh. All the panellines and the chainmail parts will get some ink with devlanmud and bandabblack.

Well theres the start of it, please let me know what you think of it.

Its going to match my Warhound. I like to think of them as a recce unit attached to my Guards.

23-01-2011, 19:16

OH #%˘@?! CAPS LOCK IS ON!!!!

23-01-2011, 19:30

If it ends up as good as your warhound you have a very descent little detachment going, can't wait to see it done!

So that leaves you free to start a warlord next ;) or are you stronger than the rest of us and have the will to withstand the temptation ?? :chrome:

24-01-2011, 19:16
gosh this is just awesome

24-01-2011, 20:13
Not much, but....hey...i said slow didnt i :D

Started the inking on the leg armour.

Think it looks okey. As i dont get to work on it that much ill be sending small updates like this when ive done some progress.

@ t d a: NO, i wont make a Warlord ! I leave that to you people who have the time and dedication to finish them within a resonable timeline. As it looks now it would take me Three to four years to make one.....

Thanks for you encouragements !

the damned artificer
24-01-2011, 20:49
Hehe you never know when the warlord fever hits ;) And besides, 4 years isn't that bad, and it isn't a race :P

The inking looks really good, is it done with a brush ?? And will you airbrush over for the highlights ??

24-01-2011, 23:46
Interesting colur scheme, I like it

0.o Looking very very good!

I find it funny how you and The Damned Artificer are having a bit of a reaver race! ;)

25-01-2011, 18:55
@ t d a: Yepp, the inking is done with a brush. The basic color scheme is already highlighted with desertyellow but it does not show well in the picture. Ill drybrush over it with desertyellow again and then add the mottling.

@ Gonfrask: Thanks, glad you like it ! :)

@ Vitruvian XVII: Thanks, yes we do have a sort of friendly "race" but its more that we try to push each other forward and get the Titans finished.
It helps alot for me at least. :D

Wow, amazing job on the Reaver. I hope the painting goes smoothly for you. It look like it will all come together in the end and be a amazing model.

Thanks for letting us into your 'little forgeworld'. =o]
