Looks great ;) Will you shade the opus machina more than it is now ?? I really think the skull part would benefit from it :)

Very nice, its getting there!!

01-02-2011, 01:32
Wow, my friend, that looks amazing. I can't wait to see more of it. Thank you for sharing and letting us into your ForgeWorld.

02-02-2011, 04:26
Thanks, friends !
@ t d a: No worries, Mate ! Itll get a lot more paint before im done with it. As for now its only had its first coat and no inking or highlight at all. :chrome:

02-02-2011, 16:05
Just went through the whole thread, and hot damn diggety, this Lucius pattern Reaver drips with awesomesauce! The whole build is expertly done, and puts a bucketload of other titan scratchbuilders to shame.. You, good sir, have my respect. Stunning detail, and I'm pleased you made that AdMech-insignia the way I wanted to build it, namely take a manufactorum-bit with the "cog 'n skull" symbol and tinker with it.. Now I'll most certainly will get my hands on that boxed set and raid it for parts..

On a side note, how's the princeps chamber/cockpit faring? any updates on that incredible detailed build yet?

Best Regards,

02-02-2011, 19:23
@ FerrumIgnatus: Thank you, thank you very much ! (blushing....)
Im very glad that you like my build ! :)
If i can inspire you to make your own symbol, im very pleased.

Still tinkering with the Princeps. Have not made those darn backrests yet either, sorry

03-02-2011, 16:25
Pretty gnarly man. I don't know how you titan builders do it!

05-02-2011, 19:13
And now with more paint.

Oh, and yes ive started on the torso :D

Looking at the Reaver next to the Warhound gives me a warm feeling inside, YES it was right to build this Engine.

Hope your pleased with the progress so far.

05-02-2011, 21:43
Looking most excellent so far. We will be pleased if you continue that way. :D

05-02-2011, 21:46
When they're that big are they worth camouflaging?

This is going to look epic when finished.

Looking great mate.

06-02-2011, 16:39

That monster is coming along nicely! Keep it up, Go for it!

Cheers man

06-02-2011, 20:18
@ Vex: Well, not realy. ;) Just kind of like this rather odd colorscheme.
Its a version of the FW-wargriffons one. Just with some new colors and some of my colorblindness mixed in.

Thanks, to all you other guys !

Some new update pics. for you to comment on.

As i wrote before those chainmail areas will get a wash with "badass black" when i get around to it.

Please let me know what you think. Ive gotten some "hot lead" from my swedish forum about the colorscheme, i like it but they dont :shifty:

06-02-2011, 21:14
Definitively great!
I like the camo scheme on legs, very interesting and well done.
Would you add weathering or leave it as clean as a good maintenance team should do?

06-02-2011, 21:26
On first look, first image above, the scheme isn't....isn't.
..as you look at the whole piece, as all of it is coming together, the painting scheme is good. No need to rush. It's going to turn out looking great.

07-02-2011, 10:03
Thought you did this Reaver SLOW, SDKFZ.. hehehe

And for the sake of the Omnissiah, DON'T leave it in a prestine, fresh from the Forge, all oiled up and ready shape! It simply HAS to be weathered! Sandstorms have blasted away the paint on some edges, a pair of panels have been buckled because a warhead failed to penetrate, som oil leakage at one of the knee joints due to some hastly in-battle repairs, you could even go as far and leave a panel on the Reaver without camouflague, leading towards the "hastly repaired-sendt out into battle again" feeling.

Only my thoughts..

Vitruvian XVII
07-02-2011, 10:56
Love the colour scheme dude! Keep it please. The people on the other forum are obviously just jealous ;) :D

It makes a really nice change from all the bloody Gold and Blue Astorum titans out there. What is it with companies and blue?? Youve got ultrasmurfs, Cyrgnar (from Privateer Press) and Astorum. Maybe it looks best on a poster ;)

Keep up the awesome work!

the damned artificer
07-02-2011, 11:41
I love the paint scheme!!!!! :D It fits really well with the model and is a nice change to see a more unorthodox style ;) So if those Swedish guys give you a hard time again you just tell them that it is very popular in Denmark ;D
Will thew trim on the head be gold or what is the plan there ??

07-02-2011, 20:25
Thanks alot, Mates ! Greatly appreciate your comments. The panel lines on the head will be chainmail like the ones on the Warhound. As im trying to make a small unit of Titans, theyll get a similar paintjob.
Might do some minor battledamage and weathering but im not that good at it so dont expect it to be GD quality. :D

Thanks again, Friends !

Cool idea SDKFZ. I love the cammo for it, the only thing that would be cooler would be M-89 danpat... :shifty:.. but imagine doing a digi cammo for a titan.

You and TDA are real insperations. I should have pics up tommorow, turns out when I got my camera I got the wrong ubs cable for it :wtf:

08-02-2011, 14:07
I really like the colour scheme, I was thinking something similar to my Warlord years ago, but someone told me that the Titans are god-machine, and never should have a colour-scheme that looks like camouflage, they are holy-machines and etc etc...

But I prefer your idea

02-03-2011, 17:13
I still here ! :D

Sorry for the long wait, here are the latest pics. of the Reaver.

Say hallo to Mr Reaver.
Side view.
And with the lower parts to match.
Rear end.
Overhead shot.

Hope you like it. Ill try to get going on the inking as soon as possible and then i have to do the guns too.

02-03-2011, 19:01
@ t d a: I had to do it, otherways you would get to far ahead of me :D

03-03-2011, 10:20
Thanks, Mates ! Greatly appreciated.

Im at home, sick with a monster cold right now so i thought id play around with my Titans.

BOLS had rules for a lighter armed scout version of the Reaver ( the old Armourcast one ) using only warhound sized weapons.

Soooooooo, i played around a bit

Well they might be a tad to small but it looks cool with painted guns.

What colours did you use? Id love to replicate that on my desert elysians.

04-03-2011, 00:16
Good job dude!

04-03-2011, 12:20
Thanks Guys !

Happy to hear that im working in the right direction.

@ Klaus: Glad you like it. Superbly..........................well im doing my best, but ill never get the painting rankings YOU get, Mate ! :D

@ ArcticWolf: Thanks ! Happy you want to follow this.

@ Solun Decius: Thanks ! Glad you found it ! Yes, im very excited and a little afraid as its ME painting it

@ Vitruvian XVII: Thanks ! I used Tamiya flat earth for a base then over sprayd with dark yellow. Inked with badab black, then drybrushed with dark yellow again.
The "mottling" was done with thinned out GW rotting flesh.

Hope this helped you and good luck !

@ Gonfrask: Thanks, Mate !

Btw started on the inking, ill post some pictures when ive got more done.

Immer weiter !

05-03-2011, 10:11
Thought id show you how the inking will turn out.

Heres a foot without ink.
Heres a foot with inking.
Notice that i also painted and inked the ledge at the bottom of the toes.
The knee.
Heres the head as it stands right now. Havent inked the sensors in the eyes yet. The sensors need some more paint work.

Please let me know what you think of this latest work.

05-03-2011, 11:12
Just amazing to see how far this project has come and developed. Stunning work, the camo looks fantastic and carry on inking!

05-03-2011, 18:27
Thanks, bp. ! Nice to see that your still watching this.

About that inking..........how about this ?

Rear side
Front side

Almost done with the black. Then for the blue and brown.

09-03-2011, 14:41

Also did the covers for the sensors.
the guns
The Reaver sofar.

09-03-2011, 16:24
sweet jeebus! that looks awesome! are you gonna add some weatehring around its "feet" and armor plates to suggest it has been the target of many heavy weapons, or going for the fresh paint look?

10-03-2011, 03:45
Holy $hit, that thing looks amazing SDKFZ. You have really outdone yourself on the painting. I love the cast you made of the opus mechanica. The metal looks very nice also.

I love the attention to detail you have put into this labour of love. I also took your advice for my warhound and redid the leg armour the right way. It looks a hell of alot better.

I can't wait to see more of your stuff, what do you have in mind for your next STC to come out of your forgeworld?

10-03-2011, 15:09
@ Deffgob: Thanks ! :) I will do some minor battledamage and light weathering, especially around the feet.

@ FabricatorGeneralMike: Glad you like it, Mate ! On the painting, its not done yet, more to come. The Opus is not a cast, its built from all sorts of GW parts.
Nice that you liked the other look on those leg armour pieces. Glad i could inspire.
Next after the Reaver will be to finish of my mini leviathan and after that im thinking of doing some sort of knight........well i might.......

the damned artificer
10-03-2011, 22:52
DO A KNIGHT !!! :D That would be so awesome :P The progress on your reaver is great, will it have some sort of other colour to break up the camo look, like a heraldry or something, it would be nice :)
I also love that you've painted the cog on the opus machina in red, it looks great as contrast to the tan colour.

Vitruvian XVII
11-03-2011, 12:11
Looking sweet SDKFZ!!

I also concur on the knight front!

I was planning on making a few (10! ;)) from the new GK DreadKnight kit, seems like it would be an easy way to get Mars pattern vibes.

12-03-2011, 15:25
@ FabricatorGeneralMike: Glad you like it, Mate ! On the painting, its not done yet, more to come. The Opus is not a cast, its built from all sorts of GW parts.

Please do a knight, that way your's and TDA's can battle in my mind and all will be right with the world...:shifty:;)

I also like the clear plastic card you used to 'glass' in the Reavers eyes. Very nice work.

12-03-2011, 19:57
@ t d a: Thanks, Mate ! Have give the heraldy a thought, have not decided yet. As you said, the red looks good against the cammo. In my old WD it says that the Imperial Hunters uses red as a contrasting color so i might paint some part in red :shifty:
Ive started two knights, but i think that ill do as most people, get the new GK dreadthing and then mightly rebuild. Its got some good parts but needs lots of work to meet my liking.

@ Vitruvian XVII: Thanks ! On the knight front, look above :D

@ FabricatorGeneralMike: Thanks ! Always liked to do the sensors like that. :D ( with lenscovers ) On the knight front , look above :D

the damned artificer
12-03-2011, 20:33
yeah use the red theme, that is pretty awesome :D
The dread knight is very cool but also imo very small, the knight is supposed to have the pilot sitting in the head, and for that to happen on the dread knight the head would have to be as big as the torso, But it has a lot of very cool and very useful parts I can only agree :)

15-03-2011, 13:28
Okey, so i know i should be painting......................but................. .

Latest crazy idea of mine :D

And, NO, i wont articulate the fingers :p

Far from done but its a humble start.

Tell me what you think.

the damned artificer
15-03-2011, 15:32
It looks good so far, is it for the reaver ?? :p

15-03-2011, 16:51
@ t d a: Yepp, its from another set of templates i found on the net.
Ill properbly do the arm like the FW one but with some SDKFZ thrown in :D

Glad you liked it ! :chrome:

15-03-2011, 21:55
SDKFZ.. Looking great.. Is that power claw from 'armorbimbos' paper templates for the Dreamforge Blockhead and crusader titan?

Continue to inspire, this is looking really great now!!

Best wishes,

SDKFZ.. Looking great.. Is that power claw from 'armorbimbos' paper templates for the Dreamforge Blockhead and crusader titan?

Having built four of those power claws, I'd say no. SDKFZ's design is a bit more complicated so far.

16-03-2011, 07:09
Theimp is right. This one is from the plans that Lack0f and Eater did "a long time ago".
Its been a long road to get it this far. As ive looked around i have not seen anyone do this fist in plasticard before. Theyve all been from paper or card.
NOW i know why :D

Ill be back with more pics. as soon as i get more done.

Thanks, Guys !

16-03-2011, 12:52
Done some more work on the Power-glove.

Made the major components for the arm. All points of articulation on the arm works. But ive limited the arcs of movement.
BUT i know that pics. are the thing here on the Forum, so here you are.

More when theres more to show :D

16-03-2011, 12:57
Will he be having huge power claws? That would look so cool.

16-03-2011, 15:03
@ ArcticWolf: I think that after seing FWs chaos Reaver power fist, id have to say, no. Itll look to chaotic for my taste.
Itll have to make do with a more civilized "hand", hope you dont mind :chrome:

Latest update.
Done some pistons on the arm. Oh and yes, they work !

Also did some more "riveting".

16-03-2011, 17:28
As ive looked around i have not seen anyone do this fist in plasticard before. Theyve all been from paper or card.
NOW i know why :D

They're a pain in the ass in card stock too. There's just too many fiddly parts in a realistic hand. And, if you want it to actually grasp anything, you've either got to relocate the "thumb" to the palm or add a joint that allows it to fold into position.

16-03-2011, 18:05
@ theimp: Thanks, now i know why i didnt find any i plasticard :D
For that thumb, ive been thinking about making it twist inwards. That way it will atleast reach its long and index fingers.
It will pinch its enemies :D

17-03-2011, 16:10
Did some cables for the powerfist. This was a test run for me. Ive never done cables like this before.
Think they turned out rather good.

17-03-2011, 17:10
Those cables look great, did you use just small peices of tubing to band them together or are those really small zip ties?

17-03-2011, 17:18
Wish they were, but no, they are just tubing cut to the right length.
Thanks, b.t.w.

17-03-2011, 17:20
I like the progress and the cables are definitely looking good, but for me the wrist just looks too thin. That may be the angle of the camera, though. Keep up the good work!

17-03-2011, 19:14

Your darn tootin' it looks good. =o]

I would personally go back to old epic and make a ball and chain CCW for it, but thats just me. ;)

The more I see this the more I want to see it finished. The effort you put into this project is just amazing. Thanks for sharing it with us.

19-03-2011, 21:38
Thanks !

Trying to get the fist to "work" for me. Its hard :eyebrows:
Crappy shot of how it looks on the Reaver atm.

Heres a pic. of the two fingers ive done some progress on.

Ill have to do the other fingers less "curled" as theyll end up INSIDE the leg armour otherways. :wtf:

Besides the arms getting so heavy now that my magnets are starting to loose their grip.

SIGH

20-03-2011, 09:36
Use many magnets? :) or does that help anything?

Solun Decius
20-03-2011, 10:42
The power fist looks really good actually. Lots of cool detail and it balances nicely with the mini.
Seems you could turn it a bit in the shoulder socket so the back of the hand is pointing diagonally to the front. That way the fingers might be free of the leg and it might even look a bit more menacing that way.

05-05-2011, 07:30
The artificer got me motivated to try painting more on my poor Titan.

Thought id try something new (for me) and add some more details in red.

Did turn out rather good, imho. The shield generators still need to be inked, i know.....

Then i turned my attention to the insignias on the leg armour.
Worked great till my "beeper" went of and spooked me.

Now i need to fix the mess my brush made when i jumped :(

Seriously, my hat goes off to you sir, that is one mighty nice Titan. I really don't think that I can find any fault in it at all.

05-05-2011, 13:48
Hehe I'm glad I got you of your butt and back to working on the beast ;)
The incorporation of red details is really a nice touch, breaks up the otherwise earthy scheme. And I'm sure you can cover that mess up easily in the weathering phase ;)

08-07-2011, 20:25
Hey, im back ! :D

Done some more painting, so i thought id show you my progress sofar.
(sorry for the bad quality pics. Ill try to take some new ones tomorrow. )

Dont they look great together ?

Amazing how close they are in almost all measurements ! And we have not shared our builds mm wise......

t.d.a:s Reaver is a beauty ! Very nicely made with great care taken with details. I like the way he uses parts from allover and gets them to work for him.
So jealous ! I cant do that, i build all my stuff ( almost ).

But not my Reaver !

Then again, it did very little damage to the enemy, so i guess im back to normal again :shifty:

11-02-2012, 15:44
Awesome work - I don't know how you get time to do so many fantastic projects!
I'm still struggling with just the walkers which I started 6 years ago (let alone any of the heavy and superheavy stuff in the meantime) but -then again- I do keep getting as distracted as a cat with a hundred flickering toches (lol).
