Hi

I'm looking to get back into 40k and a mate has lent me a rulebook he had sitting around but i'm not sure if it is the current or last edition of the rules (its been a long time since me or him have played)

Its a dark green/grey hardback with a hammer and skull on the front in a metalic grey colour. The book says published in 2004. It has the combat patrol and kill team rules in if that helps.

Is this the current rules, or have a new set come out since that book?

5th Edition is 2008. Latest image can be found on the GW site :)

A quick recognition guide:

1st edition: Crimson Fists, with "By Rick Priestly" at the bottom

2nd edition: Crimson Fists again, but with "Rulebook" at the bottom

3rd edition: Black Templars

4th Edition: Black, with a hammer.

5th edition: Red with a black border, and a hammer.

Check Ebay or ask around to see if anyone has a spare copy of the half-size rulebook that comes in the box set; saves you buying a complete book.

The new starter set rule book is great because , unlike the 4th edition starter set rulebook, it actually comes with all the rules in it.

Kill team and the extra missions say otherwise.

Easy mistake to make.
