Most important question - is it painted/ primed/ boxed/ made etc etc

most painted, only guard and regular tyrant is not painted, but will paint over it all anyways. only wish tyrant and carnifex werent built so i cound grab magnets and put them on those 2

Do you know how to use paint stripper?

Was it made well?

How much in $ is that all if bought new (im in the UK, it wouldnt even be comparable)

add up what it would cost to buy separately then factor in build and paint quality relative to what you are capable of, that should give you your answer.

Painted:
Do you like the scheme/dont care?
If you have to remove it, may as well buy new models at 400 dollars worth. Because roughly, that all costs 450+ and you can buy them for as cheap, and unassembled at a discout net store.

www.thewarstore.net

You can buy what you want, and those arms those warriors/big stuff got glued on may not be what you want in the first place.

I really dont advise this. I really dont. Go to ebay and find something better. By the way, did you check to see if he removed the flash lines from them? (and didnt cut into them while doing so?)

Only if its well painted/planned (tyranids require LOTS of planning with how they are glued together unlike most forces!)

I would say start an army from scratch and build from there and avoid big deals like that unless its -exactly- what you want/prepared to work on to make it work.

Unless its cheap enough :)

and even not knowing the exchange rate im pretty certain that aint cheap.

From what you're getting you'd need:

1 Battleforce - $90 USD
4 Gaunt Boxes - $140 USD
4 Genestealer Boxes - $120 USD
1 Warrior Box - $35 USD
2 Spore Mine Boxes - $20 USD
2 Hive Tyrants - $90 USD
1 Tyrant Guard - $20 USD
1 Brood Lord - $20 USD
1 Ravanger - $17 USD

Total: $552 USD *Based off of GW's site.

Keep in mind this is going over what you would receive through the deal because you obviously get a set number of models in each box. In my opinion, you're better off just building the army yourself. You can typically order through a retailer for a good deal (I get 15% off when I order from mine) or use ebay to get even better deals on bulk purchases. Most of the time if you're careful you can get new models that haven't been opened yet so you won't even have to go through the hassle of stripping and repainting.

Buying yourself you'll also be able to get only what you need (most of the time). I would see what you'll be running first and then start collecting as you don't want to be stuck buying models you don't want (spore mines with no biovore for example).

33 hormagaunts
probably $126,
6 warriors
$52
1 ravener
$12

34 genesteelers
$96
1 tyrant w/ wings, missing 3 out of 4 arms
$36
1 tyrant w/ scything talons, lash whip & bonesword
$36
1 tyrant guard
$16
1 broodlord
$16
1 carnifex
$36

Total price=(the warstore) $426,(games workshop) $511

How much would you pay for this army?

Calcing the list out at current GW prices, that's $532 worth of minis and the guy's asking for about $450 in return. However it's painted in a scheme that you don't like and some of the figures are apparently missing pieces.

Unless you really want a tyranids army and are willing to strip the paint, I suggest your pass on the offer. It's not a great army as is.

Edit-Disregard my calculation, I forgot to add the Carnifex in my accounting. Hexfourth's list is accurate.

It's a good start. Just be patient if you don't have enough money, or look for the best deals if you do. If you really do want to make your army look nice new models are the way to go (unless the army you did want to buy wasn't painted (or even assembled). With nids being a mainly horde army you'll need many models. Thus I'd once again recommend not going with GW directly as there are tons of deals out there.

I'd pass on it.

I'd recommend 2 or 3 Battle Forces. You can always convert the hormagaunts into spinegaunts or termagaunts. At least that's what a lot of people do including myself.

You get:

48 gaunts
9 Warriors
24 Genestealers
3 Carnifex
Lots of Rippers

For 270$

Add in a Hive tyrant and get some zoanthropes and you're golden. Be sure to check out on ebay and other online stores too for discounts!

is that in the americaan dollar, or the euro?

aberrant_unc
11-05-2009, 20:59
That isn't a good deal at all. I've been looking at tyranid armies on ebay and you can get more than that, painted pretty well, for less money. Bad deal, especially if you are going to repaint it all. Tell him $250 and you are keeping your case.

im just buying my own, i found some stuff for magnatizing so im going to buy my own to magnatize it. his case is better then mine for a army like nids tho, so were trading cases and he is helping me build all my gaunts/steelers
