Since Wolf Guard have the ability to be equipped with Lighting Claws, Storm Shields, Thunder Hammers, and Power Fists, without needing to take termie armor, what is the point of assault terms?
I get a 3+ invul from the SS, so I don't need the term armor there.
The new sweeping advance rules being based on kills is wasted if your in term armor since you can't sweep while wearing it.

I can understand Shooty Wolf Guard terms with the assault cannons and storm bolters, but aside from that, I don't see a benefit.

Because you'll be hitting yourself if you roll a 2 on that 3+ invulnerable save on an AP3 weapon...

Seriously though, you'd be shocked at how many more saves you make at 2+ than 3+. (Approximately 1/6th :p)

Ah question how much would a wolfguard with SS shield be points wise,I don't need specifics but are they worth it points wise?

costs 5 pts more than a Blood Claw Biker. (if we're omitting T Armour on the WG)
I'm not a big fan of WGBG in general unless I'm looking for an extra land raider. Too expensive.

Storm Shield is an extra 5 points for the wolf guard.

Approximately 1/6th
More like 1/4, with storm shield saving 4/6th of wounds and terminator saving 5/6th. However the important thing is, with 3+ save you fail 2 times more to save rolls then with 2+ save (2+ fails on 1, 3+ on 1 and 2), meanig twice more casualties. Against weapons with Ap 3 or worse Termie armour gives twice better protection then a storm shield.

But you can't sweeping advance, and assuming your fighting power weapons, 3+ invul save is great.

A 2+ save is twice as good as a 3+ save.

How much better is a 2+/5+ over a 3+/3+ though? Then look at the price of putting him in Terminator Armor compared to the 5 point shield.

2+/3+ though is better.
For 5 pts you should be shot if you dont get SS

Depends on his metagame environment and if he sees a lot of AP3 weapons.

They essentially start in a land raider, pop out and assault. I typically wont kill everything, but I get them on the sweep with their 5I. However, assault terms can't sweep, and are generally high priority. So the unit runs and I sit there having not destroyed them. Being able to sweep is more important than the 2+ vs 3+ save. I hate it when a unit runs, just to regroup and shoot me.

Bear in mind that Space Wolves will get new codex in, like, 8 months, and it's unlikely that models in power armour with storm shield will still be fieldable. Sure it may be an exploit at the moment, but I doubt it's worth effort put in modeling.

Why?

Because it's cool.

for that very reason I have the Forge World Wolf termies attached to legs and bases, but no arms. Who knows what the wolves could get.
