View Full Version : Arnan 317th "Death's Own" - iPaint's IG Log
I have to say, I'm confused about the colour scheme so far lol
everyt time i see this plog i want to start an IG army...
Color scheme is the same as all my other tanks. These still have their mask on for the squadron markings. Black yellow black. Pics tonight will show what I mean.

Here's where the new arty tanks are.

Really have to hand it to Tinners, his work is excellent. I need to spray the Earthshaker barrels and hit the hobby store today and pick up some plasticard tubing to make some Medusa barrels.

Interesting stuff, very cool. As is, they'd make great Bombards or Collossi
Awesome, really really awesome. Look far better like that! Glad you got them
Need last layer of oil paints but they're getting there.

Looking great man!
Just need to do a bit more weathering and some touch ups on the mud, then details. Barrels have not been weathered yet.

Those are PERFECT Sir....
I may take a few of my models up to the Feast of Blades this weekend in Denver for the painting competition and see how I do. Who knows what the competition may be like, but I think it'd be fun to take a few of my Lord of the Rings models, a tank, and maybe my Incubi or Scourges.

Wow, been a while. Thought I'd post some pics of the Mortians, seeing as they're almost finished. Just need to do the minor weapons systems and then the pigments.
Broke my arm a few weeks ago, but I've been looking at getting back on the assembly line train and knocking out a platoon's worth of infantry over the coming weeks.
~iPaint
Here they all are, Day 1. The goal is to (hopefully) have them all finished by mid February. I figure if I can batch paint about half of them a night, one step at a time, I'll get there. Maybe 2 hours a night, depending how things go.
24 infantry
7 heavy weapons teams
This would complete my 2 platoons' worth of 317th mechanized infantry, then on to the foot sloggers of the 541st.
~iPaint
sweeet! i love the grimey and oily feel you've managed to give your tanks, they feel really beat up and used.

Welcome Back I-paint! The Mortians look sweet! and the Infantry are off to a great start.
Day 2:
After 2 nights' worth of painting and Adult Swim to keep me entertained, all the infantry have had their uniform basecoat applied (2:1 mix of Codex Grey and Adeptus Battle Grey), just have the heavy weapons crew to do for tomorrow, then a wash over everything. Then highlights on Thursday.

I recently picked up my paint brushes after getting bit by the WWII bug.
Results can be found here (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?268457-The-Oosterbeek-Perimeter-iPaint-s-WWII-Plog).
I'll have some stuff posted here related to IG and 40k tomorrow.
Here's a teaser though.

I'm curious to see how they look with a decent paintjob!
Poor lighting, I'll try and get some better ones in the daylight tomorrow.

Very nice, counts as Elysians?
Sad news everyone, with GW continuing its annual price gouging...er, I mean price adjusting, the chances of me continuing this log have reached an all time low. I am even entertaining the idea of selling all my GW stuff and moving on to a more satisfying and less wallet-abusive period for war gaming, namely WW2, for now in 28mm (though 15mm and 20mm may be in the pipeline as well).
This project has provided me hours of modeling opportunities and helped me improve my painting, but alas, I believe it's time to move on.
I'd really like to thank everyone who's commented in the log over the years for taking time to read my words and look at my work, and even if you only ever browsed it, it still means a lot.
Thank you, and I hope to see you around my new paint log when I get around to making it this summer. I'll post details here when it is ready.
Til then, take care and happy painting.

I know what you mean, GW are slowly pricing out the average gamer/modeller from the hobby with a Battalion box set cost £80:confused:
You inspired to me start & complete my own IG army and whatever project you do next im sure it'll be as amazing as this one.
Will defiantely be keeping a eye out for your work

A few modifications to your blueprints, but I think she looks good! About to start painting her up!
Very nice, you'll have to let me know how it turns out once painted.

To bad mate.
Sad to hear that, but i do get the price issue. Hope you dont leave the hobby.
Its been nice to read the progress of the Arnans. You done some very good conversion work and helped the ones that wanted to duplicate your work, great !
Wish you the best of luck i 2k/WWII.

Yes, ^agree with the rest :(
Whelp, the five year anniversary came and went. I learned a lot of new techniques from this log, and it will always be one of my favorite painting endeavors, but sadly new projects await and I no longer have interest in 40k or Imperial Guard.
I think it's safe to close this thread and move it to the completed logs section. I've since sold off the army and will no longer be updating this paint log. Thanks to everyone for all of the support over the past five years, it's been a fun trip.
See y'all around, and thanks for dropping by. I am always available via PM should questions come up, so don't be shy.
Cheers

Never seen this log before today, gotta say its one of the nicest Guard army logs i've seen. The paint jobs and conversions are stunning and I'm very impressed!
Did you buy a iPaint's well done Baneblade at Historicon in Fredericksburg VA?
This is a long shot but it doesn't hurt to ask.
I bought a bunch of iPaints Imperial Guard stuff at the Historicon flea market this past weekend. One of the items was his awesome sentinel as shown below. iPaint also wanted to give me the driver and cage but realized it was accidentally in the box/bag he gave to another person who bought his Baneblade. He felt bad about it, though it wasn't his fault at all. Happens all the time at flea markets and wasn't a big deal, though it doesn't hurt to ask.
The Sentinel as I bought it:
197261
The missing driver and cage for the Sentinel. Missing is just the driver and cage shown here.
197262
Here is the Baneblade the other fellow purchased. Look familiar? Hope so!! :)
197263
If you happen to be the guy who bought this Baneblade at Historicon, and if you happen to have the driver and cage for the Sentinel in your mix of stuff, could you contact me here or via PM or offline? My email is jpipes AT feldgrau DOT com.
Also a long shot, but if you bought any of iPaint's other stuff (a few other tanks and APCs) I'd be interested in hearing from you as well.
Thanks for reading!

I wanted to post a quick follow up since I purchased a majority of this collection. Here are some pics of this beautiful army waiting for their next battle! The pics don't show the entire army but these show a lot of it!
