View Full Version : Coat of arms and colours of the gondorian army

Recently I found myself drawn back into painting some models, and reviewed my collection of old Mithril miniatures.

Whereupon I asked myself the questions how to paint somewhat more "normal" gondorian guardsmen.

I can cite the book on the citadel guards (black, white, and silver, with a crown and stars over the tree on their surcoat), but how would the regular city guard of Minas Tirith have been dressed? And what about the regulars of the gondorian army?

The films give the impression of the tree and stars being the regular gondorian coat of arms, and the predominat colours being black and steel/silver - does the literature say anything about it?
