I think it's pretty shameful really, but that's capitalism I suppose.

If I could afford the initial outlay - I'd buy a copy to sell. But i had to use the girlfriends credit card to buy my box set (incase it ran out) so I wasn't gonna push my luck any further.

I'm tempted to buy another, but only for the floor tiles, and maybe the stealers. I have Termies in my copy and from my 40k army. I like the idea of using a double size map to really convey the size of the hulk.

Just two of the more ridiculous prices they're going for...

Will anybody actually be enough of a sucker to bid on them though?

I'd like to get more floor tiles. It would be great to have a massive game of assaulting a hulk with mulitple squads (players).

Sommet like 4 marine players and 2 genestealer players. A central 'nest' with a queen as the target, and the genestealers protecting it. The marine squads (players) enter from an edge of the map each, all trying to converge on the nest and earn the glory of destroying it.

Dunno about the rules - was just an idea.

Do the advanced search and look at the completed listings. People are buying, and for high prices too.

Which is just weird. It's still available in the US. Surely it can't be that hard to get ahold of one for MSRP + shipping.

But people seem to buy products regardless of the price tacked onto them - heck, I'm sure Bit Kingdom has even sold some of their $26 Assault-Cannon SH Terminator models

probably not, unless your models are painted very well then they usually go for less than unpainted ones

Searches for space hulk now return ridiculous results. Saw one go for 200 buy it now yesterday. Lunacy, considering that you're not far away from a GW in the UK and they still have a few in stock!

Pretty insane. I was in a GW earlier today which had something like 30 copies just lying around at least.

Our local store also has a pretty tall stack. I got a second copy through circumstances, I think I'll hang on to it for a few years before selling.

51 AUD is about 20-25 quid... Still pretty rediculous, but the Aus price was high to start with at $165.

I like this line in the OP's first link:

I pre ordered one for myself, and grabbed a couple of extras for anyone who may have missed the one day only release of this game

 Yeessssss you did it just for the poor people that might have missed out, that nicely explains the $30 markup as the opening price doesn't it.

To be honest, if people buy an extra one to sell, well there isn't much anyone can do. I definitely think GW should have limited the number of copies per customer though, even though that is a bit hard when you can sign up to their website as much as you like. It makes me tempted to grab another copy or two to hold onto for a few months, if the prices are this crazy now when it is still readily available in much of the world...

I'd've been totally screwed if GW had limited it to one per customer because I ordered mine on the back of a friend's order so we could split the price of international shipping.

I said limited, not to 1 copy. I'm sure there were lots of people that actually wanted to keep two copies, mostly for the extra floor tiles, I would say 3 copies is about a reasonable limit.

There is something about eBay that does this to people.
You see people all the time buying Forge World items at prices higher than Forge World sells them for.
maybe it's impulse shopping?

i see some listed at 200 that's just crazy. I guess it's people playing up on the fears and the uncertainty over how limited is 'Limited'. Lets face it not many of us trust anything GW says at face value when it comes to marketing their products any more.

maybe it's impulse shopping? If it is not too much more than FW, it is sometimes worth it to not have to deal with FW ordering hassles if in the USA, for example.

I was tempted to pick up just the parts I wanted from a second SH set, but no matter where I turned, it was almost as expensive as to just buy a second set, so I did.

a lot of it is your classic bidding war as well, we all get that happy feeling when we are the highest bidder, then sombody comes along and outbids you so you outbid them and the cycle continues until you realise youve just spent enough money to buy a new game altogether on one model from it

i find this funny, i walked into my GW on tuesday and they still had probably 30 or 40 copies lying around to sell
