In the fluff the compromised techmarines are undergoing some sort of genestealer based transformation, quite different from what I understood genestealers did to people. Can anyone show a precedent for the marines developing semi-stealer features?

I think it's just that once the genestealers implant you with their genetic code, you develop a psychic bond with the genestealer and it's brood, which encourages you to mate and then defend the clearly alien offspring so fiercely.

Even the threat of such a bond would be intollerable in a Space Marine - death would be the only salvation in their eyes.

Tyranids have all kinds of vile contagions, spores, infestations and other non creature based hazards. It could be any number of things.

The only thing that matters is that the techmarines have been contaminated and must be purged!

Genestealers contaminate humans, infect them with a seed of sorts, so that when they reproduce the humans give birth to human/genestealer hybrids of varying levels. More can be found on this simply by googling genestealers.

Space marines, on the other hand, lack the ability to reproduce like a regular human, losing it during their transformation into a super human. This means a genestealer infection wont affect a space marine in the usual manner it would humans, so who knows what it would do?

This has been answered elsewhere already but basically it is said that the infection is reacting with the geneseed as both are implants to alter the anatomy - one to make them suoerhuman, the other to spawn offspring alien style. Think of it as a very bad allergic reaction.

It's covered in the Space Hulk novella... and it's pretty much as torn described. Instead of altering their DNA to give hybrid offspring, the Marines are mutating. Not into Genestealers, just a horrible mess of Marine, boney ridges and claws. The dude who eliminated them in the book described them look in the techamarines eyes as one he'd never seen in a Space Marine before. Fear.
