Mission Sharing

I wasn't (am not) very familiar with Google Docs, but it seems pretty useful for sharing mission files.

- It is a free word processor.
- Runs in your browser.
- Allows you to insert images.
- It saves to some web space associated with your google account.
- Allows you to share the link to the document. (Which might be the ideal way to distribute. Rather than staging a PDF or something somewhere)
- Allows you to save the file locally as a PDF, if you must.

Here is a test I threw together. (Mission 6 from some 1st ed expansion)

The only limitations I have seen so far, are:

- I output an image at 50% and tried to insert it. But GoogleDocs said it was too big. So, then I tried 30% and that worked. I didn't try 40%.

- The fonts you have to pick from seem rather limited and boring. I don't known if there is a way to add a font somehow.

map works well and you have space for writing underneath, so you cant complain really.

It doesn't have any line-drawing features or other artistic features you might want from a word processor. I suppose that, if you wanted a border around some text, you could insert a table with 1 cell in it or something.

It isn't a fancy app. But it is free and doesn't require installing anything.

(and it can save to a PDF. Which most people demand)

I just wish there was a way to use a custom font...

IIRC, you can use Google Docs to share any sort of files, not just the built-in document types. You can upload Word .doc files, for instance.

Do they just convert those documents into whatever format GoogleDocs is using?

Would you lose fonts, for example?

I'm at work, so I can't try it with all the gaming-related fonts I've got at home, but it seems to work, after a fashion.

edit: It does appear to hold fonts. I uploaded my .doc version of the Mission 13 template:

It won't place text over images, though.
