So with the new new wolf book and the new lone wolf unit i was pondering.

How would a force comprised entirely of these fellows work against a normal army? Say 2000 pts. Would the lone wolves have enough about them to be able to compete? (Tooled up lone wolves anyway, no being lame and just taking 100 plain ones)

My initial thought is no. I imagine that weight of fire will bring them down. I image the lone wolf will work best when part of an army that has other juicier targets taking all the attention away from them. However i am still intrigued.

Should make for an interesting game IMO. I may try it out the next time i get chance.

What do you peoples think?

p.s woo 500 posts here. I am a commander now apparently. I command you all to answer.

3 Lone Wolves.
4 HQ's all running alone, one being grimnar.
Play with 2 units of 3 wolf guard as troops.
You've got an easy 1000-1500 point army.

They wouldn't really be lone then, eh? I guess they'd get trounced but might take a while to kill them - 20 separate tsrgets...

It would be a bit odd to field an army entirely made of men looking to get themselves killed. You cannot win a battle with a suicide squad.

It'd be like an army of just slayers and flagellants

Logan, Njal, Ragnar, Ulrik, 3 Lone Wolves, 3 Wolf Guard Termies in a Drop Pod, and 3 Wolf Guard in a Rhino/Razorback comes to around 1500pts!

...

Wow, I have too much time on my hands :cries:

I thought about this. I don't think it's viable though. I would love to have one that works along side a close combat unit but that's about it.

It will be an easy army to beat i think. Ill just refuse to shoot you and bog your men down with guardsmen. I wont kill you and you wont kill enough of my men. (I get KP's if your men survive right? ;) )

It would be cool in a deep dark forrest or a city, But not in an open battlefield.

In a KP mission that would be funny. Your opponent would just try and run away at all times.

Since I've read their omnibus, I've retconned them out of reality. You can't beat that.

Well if he's running away all the time much like a tank shock lol doesn't that mean he's gett run off the board.

Errr...why wouldn't they? And what's this about compulsory wargear?
I don't see what's lame about taking plain ones along with tooled up ones.

They're marines with two wounds and attacks at 20 points. Doesn't sound bad at all.

Killpoints would be impossible for them to win. There'd be no point in playing the game if the other guy refused to shoot them.

KP missions would be no problem.

Table you opponent, and you win regardless of KPs Against a ~12 model, that should be do able...
