Does anybody have a clue as to how the UK, U$A, Canada, etc determine the point level of their respective tournaments? I know that in general, the UK size is 1,500, and that the U$A's is 1,850, and that Canada is (I think) 1,750, but I am wondering why? Anyone?

its a good size to get a game in, its about how long it takes to play the games and get enough in to determin a winner

1500 allows you to add something distinctive to your army, without allowing fo too much evil ness!

2000 is the normal GT tournament size in the UK. Very few big tournaments deviate from that.

For Fantasy yes, but I think the auther ment 40k where it is 1500pts for the UK.

As for why, well it time really. The Scottish Conflict was 1500pts to start but due to time given cut down to 1000pts... but now it 400 doubles (800 in total but need team mate) because of feed back from shopd on there doubles.

Saying that the UK GT you must rememeber runs for 2 days as well so you get 6 games in total from 10am until 6pm.

But again it just time, for 40k if you use 2000pts, usely game take 3 hours??? While 1500 for myself it take 1 hours maybe more, while others it take longer eg: 2 hours.

That what I got told that the Conflict.

The two considerations (from my time at GWCan) are:

a) Can you get the required number of games in the time allowed? (most important)
and
b) Can the gamers get enough cool stuff to *want* to bring out their armies?

Those are the *only* considerations that we entertained. Big enough to bring cool stuff, small enough to play quickly, the right size to balance the two considerations.
