Your painting always inspires me to want to Paint my Salamanders again, and it's probably the reason i did start playing around with some Blood Angel test schemes for the new release coming out soon.
Keep up the good work, really want to see more!

Wow, some of the best looking Blood Angels i've ever seen!
Make me want to have a 5 man squad myself, :D and those Salamanders are great too. Don't like the new direction GW took with them but that doesn't prevent your style from shining.
I know your tutorials will be a great help to all those painters out there.

The baal kit has quite a bit of metal on the turret and when handling the tank it could very easily slide off when tilting it due to the weight of the turret. To guard against this, I glued two standard bases to the bottom of the turret. The turret still can turn and be removed easily, but if the tank is tilted and the turret comes off slightly, it hooks onto the tank and wont go crashing to the ground.

worked on it a bit more. the forgeworld dozer blade really isnt fitting well. its either too low, or lopsided. really pissing me off.
This is my second forgeworld dozer, the first one went on no problem.
I should have finished photos with the dozer and sponsons tomorrow.

Im sure they will include it. Its more typical for GW to take non-codex space marine traits and units and incorporate and beef them up into the regular space marine codex. I.E. Baal Pred/LR Redeemer or Furioso/Ironclad. we will see
Nice to see some more BA and the Baal is just amazing. Great work!

No, its just schorch brown drybrushed then blotched on. Then I take Bestial brown and lightly blotch it over.
The forgeworld powders look great though. I will definatly try some out on some terrain soone ror later.
My sponsons dont move now that they are painted. I was careful not to glue them into place, but they feel like they are going to snap off if i try to turn them. anyone else have this happen? or sponsons snap off or bend?

What ink would you recommend for somebody who doesn't have access to the old school stuff? I think I threw all of my ink away about 5 years ago, and even if I didn't, I haven't really painted since 2007, so I'm sure anything I still have is no good.

what color ink are you looking for? I wouldnt know what ink to recommend outside of the old GW ones.
I found places up here in the SF bay area that have stashes of red and yellow ink from back in the day. If you want to buy a pot of red or yellow let me know.

I have a predator. I dry-fitted the whole thing, and then pulled the sponsons out before painting it, managing to snap one off in the process. They're just glued in place now!

Space Marine Masters of the chapter - Just for their heads. Anyone looking for masters of the chapter bodies, hit me up.
Im still buying up a bunch of old steel legion figures online. I recently purchased a new in blister lascannon team on ebay and to my disappointment it came with the barrel slightly warped. The rest of the figures in the set were great. I called GW and they sent me a brand new blister pack with new crewmen as well for free. Cant thank them enough for their service. Soo many companies these days dont want to do refunds and always try to defend their product by placing the blame on the consumer. that was not the case with GW, the guy was very cool, asked me what was wrong, and had a replacement at my door within 4 days of talking to them on the phone. The whole call lasted like 5 minutes and cost me nothing to replace the item. So if anyone ever gets a miscast, just hit up GW. I have had a few things slightly miscasted before but I never hit them up for replacement, glad i did this time.
When you stuck together you missile launcher marines do you do anything abouth the back of the shoulder pad of the missile laucher arm. I find the bit totally horrible and havent come up with anything to make it look good.
Also i noticed you stick alot to all gw's official fluff. Shouldn the marine in the baal be a machine adept?
Still great looking dolls. Looking forward to see your take on the landraider.

The back of the missile launcher arm. Yes.. it is aweful. i will get a close up on what I do next time I take photos.
The Baal gunner doesnt have to be a tech adept. According to the fluff, marines piloting tanks and vehicles are mostly from the reserve companies.

That is part of the brace for the missile launcher. It's there on the AoBR missile launcher too, it's on purpose.

haha -thats real.
i wanted a 3x missile launcher and 1x lascanon in the squad but I didnt have another missile launcher. I want my army to very much fit the format of a company so including two devastators is pretty mandatory for me. The lascanon/rocket launcher dev squad is pretty flexible, with the option to take either krak or frag missiles for the launcher and the anti tank abilities with the lascanons combined with the signum ability of the sgt. I hate playing games where I am severly outgunned because my army is still a WIP so I gotta get that heavy support up.
I just put a large order in at Forgeworld, which will give me a landraider soon. After that gets assembled and added to my army, I will have a fairly solid balanced playing force. Then I will build up the company and get a terminator squad in there to take the LR as a transport, opening another Heavy Support for another Dev squad. I really am itching to paint a death company, but I know with the new codex, they will definatly be getting some rule changes and new figures. so its best to wait on them.
Here is my target list for the army - this is a long term project. I am also hoping that Vet assaults, like the vanguard assaults in the Codex SM are fast attack. if that is the case, I would like to include one of those aswell. I am also debating on landspeeders. they would be great support to the 30+ jump pack marines I will have in a game of apoc

I really like how these guys are turning out. Makes me want to go do some painting, don't know if that will happen though.

Your army and especially the red you paint makes me want to start one of my own when they sort!
the baal is absolutely beautiful!
everytime i see your BA my urge to build a small force becomes stronger..
painting up a modified black reach dread that replicates the 2nd edition color scheme with the "new" weathering style atm..
btw i am using vallejo equivalents for the red tones and they look absolutely gorgeous compared to the GW ones

Pretty cool idea for using the bayonets from the cadians. i thought about the same thing too for Imperial Fists after reading Sons of Dorn an how it mentions that they do not go into battle without having a blade with them.
One idea i thought of was to cut the sheath/scabbard in half an try to extend it with green stuff to equal the length of the plastic SM blades.

The length of the cadian bayonets is pretty good as is. I think if I extended them they may be a bit too long and mess with the figures proportions. Im making an effort to use all regular GW parts that accentuate and make the marines look more true scale. i.e. the Masters of the chapter heads.

i know. i know!!! why blue?! I was really felt they looked a bit strange while painting them and wasnt sure if it was me or the figures. But I guess, sticking to BA Fluff I have no choice. before i painted the bases it looked much more awkward.
But I will say, when the squad is placed in with the rest of the figures in the army, it does look alright and the lighting in the photos above is a bit weird.

Awesome squad markings; are they freehanded?
If so, any chance of a mini tutorial when you get around to the same on the bolter marines?
(Sheesh; if it were me, those Bolter guys would be a drag after painting the juicier heavy weapons and sgt first; I always leave my sgts till last to give me something to look forward to!)
What blues did you end up using on your helmets?

Maybe that's because the eyes are green and you focus your view on the eyes most of the time. The current devestator models from GW have red eyes. Yours are almost the same, apart from the green look. Maybe changing the eye colour would help? Green and blue in particular are not good colors to mix. You see plenty of orks in blue these days...and they look horrible to me.;) Oh well that's just my oppinion. :)

Aside from alpha legion, I pretty much agree. I thought about painting them red, but I want all of my figures to have green eyes. To me it seems more realistic that they wouldnt change out their lenses because it contrasts with the different helmet colors. Its a small detail, but I think a just one, to keep them green.
I know it was quite away back but how did you paint the scouts faces and the fatigues? This has really come on since I last checked, great to see, you red techinque has done wonders for me yet I have still only painted 5 space hulk termies so far.
Cheers.
Faces,
Dwarf flesh,
Highlight elf Flesh
Thin Highlight Bone
Very think highlight of white
Ogryn Fleshwash
If necessary, go back with elf flesh to smooth over parts

Iyanden Darksun Foundation paint
Bleach Bone
Highlight White
Ogryn Fleshwash the entire area
Badaab black in the creases of the cloth and where the cloth connects to armor and the figures boots
I'm starting to paint up my Blood Angels 5th company from 2nd/3rd ed. (jeez, I couldn't paint back then..), but your marines have totally disillusioned me... They look so nice I don't really wanna start on my own, don't think I have the time or talent to do them half as good... Oh well, that's a compliment or sorts...
Its probably 10% talent and %90 time and process. Everything is done in easy stages that anyone can do, its just following the process and taking the time to do it. the foundation paints will help you a ton. before them, red was a nightmare.
Nice devs :)
Where is the sgts gun from, btw?
(Sorry, full of questions today!)
I can do a tutorial on the blue, but if you dont wnat to wait it is:
Black Undercoat
Regal Blue
Ultramarine Blue (Leave the cracks in the helmet regal blue)
50/50 Ultrablue and white highlight
Blue Inkwash the entire helmet
Thin Badaab black wash in the cracks

here is the face tutorial
Black undercoat the entire figure
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/IMG_4200.jpg
Paint the face with a Dwarf Flesh. Sometimes you have to apply two coats or go over parts as the black undercoat will often show through a little bit.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/IMG_4204.jpg
Using Elf Flesh, Begin to highlight the figure by painting the more defined parts of the characters face. Nose, Chin, Cheek bones, jaw line, and ears are all parts that need to be brought out in this step.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/IMG_4209.jpg
Using bleech bone, highlight the areas from the previous step. I then take white and a detal brush, and just do a very small highlight on the Chin, Nose bridge, cheeck bones, and jawline.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/IMG_4210.jpg
Ogryn Flesh wash the entire face and paint the details. Usually after this step, I will do a thin line of Baadab black where the characters face connects with other details and parts of their costume. The cable and baal Eye washed with baadab black, letting a but of the wash rest between the characters skin tones and the details, giving the illusion of a shadow and also defining the details more ontop of the figures skin. Note: On the blood angels that have blonde hair, I use a thin line of baadab black between the figures and their hairline. It defines the figures face better and better defines the light skin and light colored hair

Blue Helmets
Knee pad insignia
If anyone has any other questions or tutorial requests, just ask. I will be doing a lot of progress on this army as I have a ton of space marine stuff coming in the mail.
I also scooped up a forgeworld 120mm space marine. So I will be putting up progress of that in this thread as well. Im contemplating in really going at it and converting it into captain tycho.

i just got some figures in the mail. My last command squad figure has been decided on. its the veteran from the Vet MKII box set someone recommended a while back. Figures pose and wargear fit perfectly. Waiting on my forgeworld order still though.
My sgt. Gideon figure arrived. Great looking figure for what it is. GW really worked hard to hide the frame cut. Im going to hack this figure to pieces and blend it with a forgeworld Sgt. Culln figure.

cut it off whit a hobby knife or file it off. Then Green stuff icons on or buy forgeworld brass icons and use those.
I will blame World of Warcraft for not having commented on this blog before.
Bad wow!
This is a jaw droppingly nice army, it almost makes me wish Id gone Blood Angels instead of Flesh Tearers. But I likes mah frothing madmen.
What sticks out throughout the whole blog, is your attention to detail. Picking just the right head or sergeant to make a particular squad look right is something you dont see very often, most , myself included ,will build a squad and not give it too much thought. Having seen your selection process I think I will have to adopt some of the ways you do it. (ie Imma steal some of your ideas)
I dont know if you still have red ink issues but if you havent already tried them, Windsor and Newton do some really nice acrylic inks. Deep red and peat brown(magic ink I call it) are my current favourites.

Well finally got through your log (to my shame I havn't read every single post). You have some pretty amazing miniatures there. Not only the very good paintjob but all the conversions which make your army really unique and well awesome. I really like your dedication to the Armageddon campaign and its forces.
Not only has this campaign gotten me into warhammer but also helps me on deciding which force to take... if I'll finish my Steel Legion one day I most certainly will start a Black Templars force.

Definatly. Your figures are great and I look forward to seeing which theme you go with your steel legion. I have a huge box of about 100 unpainted steel legion figures I want to get going later down the road after my blood angels are done. I will definatly use your thread for inspiration. On the side, I have been doing some conversions and have a pretty finished command squad. I used some of the plastic cadian and catachan bits to convert them. Ill post picks when I primer them.

I updated my company champion a bit. I painted this figure two years ago before I picked the army back up. I sculpted some hair on him too. I kinda wanted a blonde haired blood angel in my command squad. I also re-washed some of the figure with Badaab black to give him the same finish as the rest of the guys i the army. I had used Black Ink on him and the rest of the command squad. Next to the figure is the newest addition to the unit. When I paint this figure I will be updating and finishing hte rest of the figurs in the unit.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/IMG_4289.jpg
Finished Yarrick. Next to him as another veteran i picked up. I absolutly love the pose of this figure but hate the head sculpt. i tried to salvage it by trimming the figures head and green stuffing some hair but to me it still looks like pretty bad. Im going to drill the figures head off and use either a helmet or a master of the chapter head.

That vet is one of my favorite figures. The power fist arm is perfect. The pose really accentuates the weight of the gauntlet. I had to include that figure in the army somewhere. He will probably be a Sgt.

Please post a link or a photo in this log. I would love to see your dread. I havent seen any of them painted as BA yet.
More new photos today got leaked in the blood angels summary today. I really like the detail on the new figures and really cant wait to get my hands on them. I wont be overly blinging out my marines with blood angels icons, but rather giving marines here and there small bitz off the BA accessory sprue and integrating them into my squads. I will have to paint a few knee pads to the correct squad markings, but they should fit in well. Im a bit bummed the Death Company figures dont have jetpack straps on their chests. I will have to use standard assault torsos for those and I wont be using any angel wings in my army other than the ones on the Sanguinor figure. They just seem silly to me. I know GW is trying to keep the blood angels different than the other chapters and wants to give them as much appeal as possible to move units but there isnt any functionality to the wings and it is purely for looks. I know Blood Angels have been known to have many artificers and really do appreciate art and study warfare as art, but I think that should come out in the muscle artificer armor and other small details... not overly blatant angel wings.
to me the angel wings seem like this:
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/batman3.jpg
When im going for this with my blood angels:

Check the link if you havent yet to see some of the new figures:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248074
But Im really excited for the new stuff and am checking every day to see if they have gone up on advance order. maybe my opinion on the wings will change when i get them in my hands, but right now im planning on just using jump packs from the new death company box set and combining them with the sanguinary guard.
The dread is coming a long nicely.
I really like the hair sculpting you have done. Mind if i ask how you did it ?
I just use a small glob of green stuff and work it over the bald figures head. You only need a little greenstuff and the thinner you can get it one the figures head and fully covering the area the better. then I just take a sculpting tool and put the texture in. It doesnt take long and if you dont like the way you are going with it, or dont like the way it turns out, you can always cut it off and start over.
Here is the last command squad figure work in progress. I got a new method for painting the gold. It makes it look a little more bronzish. Im going to apply the same effect on the commander and rest of the command squad figures helmets.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/IMG_4291.jpg

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e323/ilikebmxbikes/IMG_4293.jpg
next thing I need to finish. These guys shouldnt take too long. I just got the shotgun figures because i didnt want to use two of the same figures in my scout squad and Bolter marines, who I like better, have rapidfire weapons, which would never get to be shot as the unit is primarily for assault. Are shotguns on scouts ever useful?

Im single and I work a lot. Warhammer to many people outside the hobby seems very expensive. $35USD for 10 PLASTIC figures to many people seems so ridiculous but when you really look at it, its an amazing deal. If 10 figures takes me 30-40 hours to paint, that is 30-40 hours of entertainment for $35... and to me that is a damn good deal.. not to mention you also get to collect the figures and the whole game aspect. ... well, thats how I justify it when chicks ask about it. haha.
I got the characters, 3x death company sets, a reg assault squad, sanguinary priest, vet assault sgt. and the sanguinary guard.

Definatly. What i was mainly trying to say, is there are many levels to the value of warhammer past just simply owning the figures, i.e. the game, painting, converting, the fluff and imagination side of warhammer. Its all valuable to me, some parts more than others.

Those honour guard look amazing and that rhino is very very bright. It may interst you to know I am currently painting a banner for our groups new chapter, so I am using yours as something to aim for. If I can get anywhere near that level I will be very pleased.

Like you say it's not the most interesting update but it all goes towards having a beautiful army at the end of it. As for the marine statue you should so do Tycho, it'll look really cool if you can pull it off, which i'm confident of.

This says it all. I like the new plastics too, but most are too blinged out. I'll certainly be buying some, but the wings will be donated to someone who actually likes them.
I'm not a huge fan of the new metals figures but I'll probably buy them to convert into other BA characters.
Loving the way the company is coming together BTW. :)

thats pretty much where I am at. The cool thing about the new plastics is you can really bling your blood angels up from 1-10 with the new bits. Games workshops sample figures are blinged to a 10. I will be going for a 5, which is also good because they will not only integrate better with my existing stuff, but my bitz sprues will last a little longer too.
Im going to make 20 tac marines with the new BA parts and split them into my squads. So my current tac marine squads will be broken in half and re designated to another unit. Making four squads with 5x tac marines with new BA parts and 5x no BA parts (my current guys) in each unit. That will spread out the bits a bit and make the force look more uniform and up to date. I will be doing the same with the assault marines - painting 10 with new parts and splitting the squads.
But until my BA stuff gets here, I have a few things I need to get done in the mean time to prepare for their arrival.
I got a huge package from forgeworld yesterday. The Pre Heresy landraider kit is amazing. The details and angles are extremely sharp on this kit. there is zero warping on it and it fits perfectly. My second set of Rhino reinforced armor is also a great cast. Its much sharper than my predator armor I ordered from them a few months back.
Here are my Pre-Blood Angels stuff I need to do. My goal is to have it all done by the second week of april.
Terminator Assault Squad (FW shoulder pads)
PreHeresy Landraider
3x scouts - (totaling my squad to 9)
Razor Back, w/ reinforced armor

Finished the Rhino. The stock rhino looks great with the Baal. The Reinforced armor on the baal stands out more with something to compare it to.

The kit looks amazing but mine was such a pain to put together. The parts were all slightly too small and it needed loads of greenstuff to fill the gaps just to get it assembled. Glad yours looks different!

That's interesting; I just thought I'd mention I've decided to do the opposite. I'm going with a slightly different look with each squad, to make the squads more individual as units in their own right.
So future squads will be a bit more blinged than the first ones; although I must admit I did paint the 'basic' squads with 'basic' equipment, and therefore may not end up using them as much.

sounds promising..
I agree with your bling theory.. I think the sample models are a bit too over the top save for the death company..looking forward to see your approach in kit bashing...
I will probably wait until they release the battleforce since it is a better bargain and combine the kits with regular tac/assault squads to make subtle looking Marines that still wear BA iconography..
I think 2 boxes of Death Company and the Sanguinary Guard should last a while.. I took a look at the sprues and I think the Sanguinary Guard has about 6-7 bare heads + same amount of death masks...
Are you planning to get a box of Sanguinary Guard?
I will probably get one and make my own custom plastic Dante... Only thing I don't like are the wings and the single thruster jump pack.. They are just a bit too much for me and they don't look like anything a military force like a SM Chapter would use... so I will probably just use regular Jump Packs and save the single Thruster ones.. Dante also doesn't have the wings so I think it would look a bit silly...
does anyone know when GW releases the battleforce kits? like a month or two after the initial release?
Superb work on the Rhino, it looks stunning.

seconded! simple yet effective
also a great approach on Gideon... Using the bearded Space Wolves head is unusal for a Blood Angels but it gives the model more individuality... I used that one head with the mohawk and the beard from the Wolf Guard box for one of my Sergeants and it just looks badass!
Looking forward to see more updates!

I heard a rumor GW wont be doing battle forces anymore. Someone said they will only be released around Xmas time. Dont know how valid that is. If they do release a battle force I will defibnatly get some.
The stuff I preordered
3x Death Company box sets
1x sanguinary guard
1x sanguinary priest
1x vanguard vet with hand flamer
1x asorath
1x lemartes
1x regular assault squad
1x codex BA
Im really just trying to finish all my stuff here so I am ready for when the new stuff arrives. I started this army about a year and a half to two years ago and quit 40K for a while. I got back into 40k around september time, started painting blood angels, heard the rumors, put the army on pause until i could see what was coming out. I have seen the new stuff and I now I am just ready to paint and get this army on the table and play some games.
The head to the Gideon is a Master of the chapter figure with some hair sculpted on. He does look like the spacewolf head in that photo though. I will be taking more photos as I finish the terminators. I have the first coat of foundation paint on them. Terminators are pretty nice to paint. I am making much faster progress on them than I do with the tac marines.

Its the color scheme in the old angels of death codex back in 2nd edition. I had a look though the 5th ed BA codex yesterday and GW too has continued the one left black claw in the current paint scheme. Painting red takes a while, so not having to paint that one claw felt like a bit of a reward.

haha. Roadbikes, i love them. I had a roadbike for a while and loved going on long rides. Its just different than bmx in an awesome way.
Mountain bikes, I like mountain bikes when they are on the mountain. Too many kids these days are getting mountain bikes and going in the skateparks. They claim they are being 'innovative' by just copying bmx tricks that were first pulled over 20 years ago and awkwardly doing them on a huge mountain bike. doesnt look right.
but really, any bike is awesome and it is good to ride anything anyway you want.

Found a magenta ink (looks like red) and have a dread 1/2 way done, the scheme you have works well. are you going to do writing on the script or parchment?

Every time I check back here, there's more jaw-dropping goodness. You, sir, inspire me. I am trying to finish my Nids, but now Terminators won't get out of my head!
Sooooo..., Any more headless bodies lying around your workspace yet? ;)
LOL!

lovely reds as usual. the black fists do indeed work very well, as they bring some much needed contrast to an otherwise overwhelming red.
I noticed that the groin shield of the thunder hammer sergeant has a grey and white shield painted on. I'd like to humbly suggest going with a black and while shield. The grey looks a little odd and out of place since there is no other grey on the entire model.

the shield.. yes, i havent decided what color to paint the shield or what names to do on the scrolls yet for some of the marines. black is always a good choice though.
I painted 3 more scouts. Totaling the unit up to 9. I want a 10th scout, but dont know what figure yet. Im really trying to get as much of the stuff done that I have now so that when the new figures come, I can get right into them.
Next on the list before the April 3rd Release:
Pre Heresy Landraider
Forgeworld Razorback w/ Extra Armor and Forgeworld Doors
2x Rhinos - 1 With a Forgeworld Dozer
My goal is to get at least the Landraider and Razorback finished before the release drop

You know where I was at. Im telling you, get back in the game. You will have a whole new perspective.
I started painting in the 7th grade back in 1997. I saved all my money to use toward warhammer and always would paint it as fast as I could. The only restriction in my warhammer collecting was Funds. Now, funds with warhammer are not an issue, now the restricting factor is Painting. At the standard I have committed myself to, I can only paint so much with the time I have available. But I really enjoy it and dont feel rushed. Its very rewarding.
Its an exciting time too with all the new figures and amazing forgeworld stuff.
This thread is really going to jump start when all the new blood angels stuff arrives and after this battle company is finished, or nearly finished, I will begin some steel legion imperial guard.

I had to upgrade to photobucket Pro - this thread with the photos exceeded the 10gb bandwidth per month.

You could use a different image host other than Photobucket. But then again, these photos are worth the bit of money Photobucket Pro costs. Becasuse pretty much all your minatures are wonderfully painted.

First time I saw this thread and I have to say I like what I am seeing.
I love how you get such good results with the paints and you don't even mix them! It's all elegantly simple yet striking. I bet you get quite a few done quickly with such easy methods.
I'll be an idiot not to subscribe to this log, it's all quality work with achievable standards of excellence.
For your scout squad perhaps a heavy weapon of some sort? Was there a metal scout with missile launcher? Or find some sniper scouts.
I painted 3 more scouts.
Loving the scouts, ilikebmxbikes. Really crisp paint job on these guys.

I try to keep it simple. I used to mix paints, but when doing such a large army, it can add a lot to the workflow and the results sometimes arnt always as consistent with them as I am going for with this army. No mixing paint necessary on the red armor. All the red on all of the figures is very uniform and it looks really good. Even though I am not mixing, they still do take quite a while to do. The standard marines after a black undercoat take, 5 steps on the red armor, then all the details. Those terminators took me forever. and the last 3 scouts I did probably took about 6 hours to do.
The last scout... still undecided. All the other scouts are close combat oriented, so putting a sniper rifle, Heavy weapon or a bolter in there wouldnt do much in the game and I really dont want to use a duplicate figure in there so i need something unique. I decided not to use the metal SGT. marine, because I prefere my sgt. - who looks more like space marine in scout armor, rather than just another scout. Another option would be to use the Metal SGT. as just another CC scout, but his pose with the raised chainsword is a bit too 'Epic' and would draw too much away from the current sgt, who is more subtle. I might just have to go with a sniper rifle for looks. probably never use it in the game, but it doesnt cost more points.
Update:
Started the landraider today. Many posts back i wrote how impressed i was with how well the forgeworld preheresey parts fit on the land raider, and someone noted theirs took some fitting etc. Well, I was referring to the sponsons, which fit perfectly and they had to be talking about the hull, which is taking a bit of effort, but nothing a little work cant fix.
Anyone else feel like painting their landraider interior is a waste of time? I started working on this yesterday and just got the interior done. When the tank is fully built, I doubt anyone will ever see the detail in here.

I haven't started to even assemble my Land Raider Crusader, let alone paint it. Still, that console thingy you painted for it looks nice. I guess painting vehicle interiors is one of those going the extra mile things.

More great stuff!! Nice bit of detailing on the console!
Land raider consoles looking cool mate, as for being worth it I always think so, it really depends how you feel, personally I hate it when I seal my land raiders and rhinos up.
cool panel, even though alot of people wont look inside i still think you should do it if you have the time.
By the way, when are the new BA models due for release?

after getting bored with working on the tank, I pinned and started painting my dante figure. This has always been one of my favorite characters but this was the first dante mini i have worked on.

dante is looking very decent. pretty similar to how I painted mine but i suppose there's really only 1 way to paint him haha.
I'm considering replacing the backpack he has now (i'm using a chaos raptor pack) with one of the winged packs when they come out...
looking good, the inside looks good. dante looks wicked.

Yeah, seems a bit excessive with the other wings on his chest.
dante looks wicked. i really like your bases
My bases are simple to do, just GW sand glued on the base, then a generous amount of Scorched brown to seal the sand. Bubonic brown heavy dry brush, Bleached bone light drybrush, Ogryn Fleshwash the entire base. Then paint the ring of the base in Graveyard earth.

Dante is looking great!
ilikebmxbikes did you ever post a tutorial for your gold? I remember seeing the list of colours used but I can't recall a step-by-step (I'm sure it's obvious, but I'm a crappy painter so having my hand held helps!)
btw. i was looking through the thread again.
what model/s did you use for the standard bearer? his sword looks massive, i like big swords =D
Very cool work on Dante mate, he looks absoloutely stunning, the crispness of the white helps it contrast really well with the gold.
