Your exactly right about the sword.


The trick to positioning terminators is to NOT give them a dynamic position. Terminators are very bulky and are already much more disproportionate than the power armored marines. I try to give them positions that suggest the weight and bulk of the suit.

that is the best SM suit I have ever seen. It looks amazing and the person in the suit walks and moves very well in it.

I've just spent the last few hours going through your entire thread again. The time, effort, and above all, skill that has gone into this army just blows me away. I tip my hat to you good sir. Hope everyone has had a nice holiday. I have been enjoying the time off. I have been painting a bunch of chaos and had a few games with the blood angels. I played against nids in a 2k game and a 5k game with 5k of my blood angels against a 2500pt chaos and 2500pt orks force. All the games were a lot of fun and had some really fun moments for both sides.

Now its time for a long overdue modeling update for the Blood Angels.

I had a much more complicated Mephiston conversion planned but went a different route when I got my hands on a finecast Mephiston. The finecast figure is awesome. I know a lot of people have had poor experiences with finecast but this figure was a great cast and so much easier to work with than my original pewter WIP. With my original build, I grinded out his legs with a dremel for about 30 minutes. It was a lot of work and required a lot of clean up. I shaved the finecast figure's legs off in about 30 minutes with a hobby knife. After fitting the new legs, I actually liked the pose of the figure and decided against re-doing his arms and head. This conversion was very simple and really helps the figures proportions.

The only part I am not 100% on is the back of the figure. My options were to lengthen the cape which would take a lot of work and blending or to just lengthen the robe. I decided to go with the second option and hope with paint it will make it look better. If I am not settled on it after paint, I will sculpt the cape longer.

I have a separate chaos log for my renegades, but I thought I would post this photo here too as it has some imperials. I was bored one night and started painting some random figures. I painted the astropath and pilot in a few hours. I usually batch paint squads so it was a nice break just to focus on one figure at a time. I have an adeptus mechanicus model, titan crew, frateris militia, and a few other randoms that will join this collection.

The landraider survived a round of being rammed by the def rollers, but then the second time around it blew up.

Speaking of that landraider. I decided to finish the tank. It still needs to be washed, weathered and decaled up.

Don't you just love it when a simple change really improves the look of a model? I think your Mephistion conversion is a prime example of this! He's an awesome character, in one game I saw him take on and kill a Bloodthirster in a single turn!

Also, your opponent's Trygon bursting up from it's base is cool.

That you did. That was a good game. Corbulo seems to be my star player lately. I had him combined with Dante, who nerf'd kharn the betrayer's stats and Corbulo killed him in a challenge for the second game in a row. He was then shot to death by a meltagun armed chaos marine. He always makes up for his points.

Haha... your hammernators can play whack-a-mole with my termagants... there's nothing more fun than making S8 AP2 hammers splat a couple of T3 6+ save models... that spawned for free. If they catch anything else in my army it won't have such a good time.

It's also really good to see your army on a gaming board. On their own your models look great anyway but on the gaming board standing in front of buildings, Tyranids and Orks they really come to life!

I am currently building a handfull of tanks. Im going to do all of the base red on 2-3 tanks and then take my time to finish them. The hammernators will be worked on in between.

One lightning claw is from a Veteran figure from a few years back and the pointing claw is from the space wolf sprue. I grinded the wolf element off. I noticed that GW re-released the veteran claws in a finecast upgrade pack.

The mephiston finecast figure was an amazing cast. I am not sure if I got lucky, but it was absolutely amazing to work with. It was my second attempt at the conversion. My original attempt was with a pewter figure. I took about 30 minutes to dremmel out legs and other parts I didnt want to use. It was a pain and not nearly as clean as my second attempt. It was also kinda dangerous. I was able to easily carve out the finecast figure with only a knife.

They do really look amazing on the table. I have plans to do another phase of terrain building for a campaign. Expect to see bastions, landing pads, and a lot more jungle/forest stuff.

Its a landraider prometheus. I have had this kit for like 5 years and havent built it. It is a command landraider which will transport Aphael and his command squad. It will be armed with 2x twin linked heavy bolter sponsons, and a pintle mounted multimelta. The tank has night vision and improved coms. It is pretty equal to the codex LR variants. The other tank is a Predator Annihilator and the third will likely be another Vindicator.

It will be good motivation to get everything painted. 7150 has been getting a ton of his chaos finished and I have been hard at work on my blood angels. Maybe my Redeemer wouldn't have died from the dual death rollers if it had a paint job. We will see how it fairs next game. My hammernators are almost done too and the LR Prometheus as well. The LR Prometheus will make my reserve rolls a bit more predictable. My Baal Predators outflanked a bit too late in that game...

I just recently started up my second squad of lootas to make 7150 cry more at night. I also need to get a decent camera for photographing...all I have is my old school driod X and an Ipad 2. Although my roommate as a nice DSLR so perhaps I can borrow it...anyways I digress. On a sidenote you still need to send me that link for the bits Bikes! I'm not sure what days 7150 as off for future gaming but I pretty much have 3 days weekends until summer.

thanks everyone for their support. I have slowly been painting and havent updated the log in a while. I do have new things to update the thread with. I finished a terminator squad and am working on some tanks. I have also got a good amount done on my chaos. We played a game last weekend and my victory has motivated me to keep the project moving. Ill get photos up soon.

I can get more photos of them soon. They are just sitting in their display case. I am tempted to paint a terminator squad to accompany Culln, a sternguard squad, a landraider and a vindicator and/or whirlwind. I never totally finished that army.

Great effort on turning a 'girls' 1 Series BMW into a fierce looking beast, now, a 3 Series with your kit would be awesome! Love the front vents and grille. I have a Seat Leon FR550 with vented bodykit, similar 'gills' on front. ;)

Its a blast. The car is fully upgraded. AST Coilovers, Stoptech Big Brake Kit, OEM M3 suspension and bushings on all corners and all of the bolt on power upgrades.


Great effort on turning a 'girls' 1 Series BMW into a fierce looking beast, now, a 3 Series with your kit would be awesome! Love the front vents and grille. I have a Seat Leon FR550 with vented bodykit, similar 'gills' on front. ;)

Looking good! Still the best red I have ever seen.

BMW looks great, what sort of turbo are you strapping to it? The new variable vane turbos work pretty well on the bmw's and the small borg warners spool well and put down huge torque. Good to see another wargamer into cars, I'm about to pull my supra off the road to strip it down and rebuild for 700 horse or so, good to have hobbies eh ? :P

Holy crow. You've been crazy busy. I am really digging the new terminators. I like the subtly of the priest --it's good to have variation in an army's ornamentation. With Blood Angels, I feel like the temptation is to use more gold than a Pharaoh (though that is not an issue your army has), so I think it's interesting to see a more subdued terminator.
The 1st company captain looks pretty rad. I am really looking forward to seeing how that fella turns out.
The smoke launcher on the Pred looks like it might obstruct the turret movement. Is there a way to move it?
I'm in the process of rejiggering a lot of my army, so I've been coming this log for ideas. The one lesson that I've taken away is to spread the awesome around and treat each model as you would a character.

I like the Predator annihilator pattern predator. I'm told it's a poor choice for anti-tank, but mine one-shot a Maulerfiend on the first turn in my last game! Also bare in mind that with so many lascannons, it'll have to go through a lot of weapon destroyed results before it can no longer threaten heavy armour.
I know they're small things really, but I play Space Wolves and it just wouldn't be right if they didn't go over the top!

I am looking to get back into painting with doing up an Ultramarines version of what you have accomplished so far. I was wondering if the same technique you use to achieve your red would work for blue as well, or would the increased opaqueness of the blue paint when compared to the red kinda negate the effect?

I was planning on using Macragge Blue, or something similar, with layers of Altioc and Aldorf Guard Blue on top. Finally a blue ink wash to tie it all in. Your thoughts?

Awesome your getting into tracking - it is indeed addictive

Really the trick to all my armor and highlighting is the blending. The blood angels rely heavily on the red ink wash but with Blue, I would probably start with a black undercoat, dark blue, medium blue ( main color) and then do a edge highlight, wash the entire armor with blue wash ( not ink ) and then use black wash to thinely go in the cracks of the armor.

I built and am working on a warhoud titan. This model has been a ton of fun to build. I bought some powertools to get it finished and so glad I did. Pinning it took a bit of extra work but the model is rock solid and surprisingly most parts went together very well. This is an Authentic FW Warhound titan and on the certificate is numbered 411. I had searched online and saw some titans with certificates as high as the 3xxx's.

I still use a lot of the old paints and inks. I have painted a few test minis using the new reds. I used the Mephiston Red as a foundation replacement and Evil Sunz red as a Blood Red replacement and ink washed as normal.

Really appreciate it. I went on a tangent and painted a full 2k Chaos Renegades army. It using a ton of FW models and uses the Renegades of Vraks list with Alpha Legion Allies. Its hardly a competitive list but it is so much fun to play. I have been painting Blood Angels for so long and I am determined to finish this army in the next few months. I want to finish the company with the last Dev and Tac squad and make a Vanguard Vet squad and a Jump Pack Honour Guard. For tanks I have a few land raiders, another Baal pred, 2x Rhinos, Domocles Command Rhino and am considering a Forge World Fire Raptor.

The Blood Angels fought well in the Apoc game but we played pretty loosely and lost by 1 victory point. It was a fun battle for both sides. I do have a thunderhawk transporter. I will finish it but I want to wait until I have at least my battle company and the rest of my tanks finished before I paint it. It will require a ton of my precious red ink and I dont want to use it up on the transporter, a model that will never actually see the table... well might see the table as a piece of scenery or special mission.

Thank you guys. I will be taking photos of my Steel Legion this weekend. I am lucky to be mostly wrapping the army up as the new BA's got released. I am really excited about the new codex and want to finish my battle company. I am just 20 marines away - then I just want to paint terminators and get half of the first company finished. I have 20x terminators from the Shield of Baal boxes, 12x from space hulk and will be buying 2x sets of the new Blood Angels terminators to mix in. That would potentially give me 40+ terminators to split between my Red Scorpions and BA.

I mostly freelanded the Legio Crucius Warhound logo. I used a bottlecap to trace the circle with a pencil, then i cut up a decal from the Imperial Knight Decal sheet to get the cog and then I freelanded the Guantlet and cleaned it up.

Here are some photos of my Imperial Guard. They were a speed painted army forsure. Not the same quality as my Blood Angels but they hold up when with them. I particularly like the idea of fielding this army alongside my renegade chaos army. The new FW Imperial Armor book is amazing and Renegades have such a cool list. These could represent chaos guard and my renegades could just represent indoctrinated civilian forces. ( The chaos guard have +1 bs and are 1pt more)

Doesnt look like much in the case but I have 6x infantry squads, 2x platoon command squads and a kitted out Company HQ squad. around 80 men in total.

I have been remodeling my house so I have not updated any of my threads in a long time. I have however been painting a ton of chaos and imperial guard. Thank you. The Tech Priest is a FW model. I do have faith the sisters will get a real update. They were recently featured in the shield of baal campaign and NONE of their models were shown in the pictures which implies they will get an update with new models. (or gw threw them in the trash)

They are 1/35 WW2 buildings. I prefer them over the GW buildings because they are nice and thick and much more realistic.

They are very simple actually. I painted them up super quick and have about 30% more of them than are actually pictured.

Thank you. They key to converting is always better to be subtle than over the top. Less is more. I kept my steel legion conversions very minimal.
