I am building afew Grey Knight Terminators. But I want them to be abit different. Most of them have Nemesis Force Halberds or Swords.
But it does say that some GKTs use their favourite weapon, and a NFW can take any shape.

What do you think would look good on GKTs?
Hammers , Maces, Axes, Flails, Claws, other ect ect ?

One on each end? Im tempted to do the same with the NFHalberd

yeah the NFW can be anything you want. What you suggested sound pretty cool.

I like the idea of turning the halbeard into more of a pike (long handled axe) type weapon. Would look awesome.
Also i love the concept of a shoulder mounted storm bolter, but it would need re-sculpting as a more compact unit.

best of luck fella, i'll be interested to see what you decide on!

How would you make the pike?

I think an assorted selection of maces and flails would be a rather nice sight on Grey Knights. All the 'usual' cutting weapons like swords and halberds are okay, but I think a bludgeoning weapon with spikey extensions on a chain, which is on top a Nemesis Force Weapon just reeks of coolness.

Not sure where I would start to look how to make them, probably the fantasy range...

I find the Phoenix guards' halberds quite nice. The only thing is I don't know if their size would be good for GKT...

I have afew skeleton weapons that Im going to try on a GKT squad

Hammers , Maces, Axes, Flails, Claws, etc you said. I would stay away from the flails. That looks to old timeish for me and might look out of place. But I like the idea of a hammers, axes and claws. That could look quite mean with the swords and halberds you have.

Not shure about maces, but if it looks like it will fit then great. I hate how the Interigator Chaplian has it's egale what ever it's called mace. I cut it off when my son broke my GK and but the top Halberd on it. It looks not bad, at least to me.

So 2 or 3 squads with mixed up Hammers, axes, claws, giant swords and halberds will look quite nice. The pic the person who gave the link to, looks quite nice. Work of that with the big swords that they have. Have each squad have a hammer or 2 and one with claws and one or 2 with halbards (to have the classic GK look in it) and one with a giant sword would give them all a little bit of character and not look the same.

Im going to try the flail and see how it turns out. Can always be replaced

How about Nemesis Force Bolters? xD
True Grit-wielded and all.

How would you make the pike?
Take a long piece of brass rod, drill a hole in a fit, insert rod.
Do keep in mind that a pike is usually at least twice the model's height in length.
And a pointy end ofcourse.

For a mace I'd use the flint holder thingie that you get in clipper lighters.

uhh hey guy :p
a halberd is a long handled axe.
a pike is just a long spear.
seems to mee you had a mix up

I have my asault termies with flails dangling off a powerfist to proxy as thunder hammers. Doesn't look too bad, atleast i think so :D

I would personally use the Chaos Warrior weaponry range, as they have fairly large elaborate weaponry.

Thats a good thought. I think I have afew spares lying around that Ill try and dig out

I have NF scythes, hammers and claws in addition to halberds and sword in my current army and always thinking up new way to add other weapon types through conversions. I am tempted to use a converted power fist as a NFW at some point, but I think it doesn't quite look right on the GK.

Indeed i did, touche :) i would go for a halberd then!! I would use the existing grey knight weapon shafts and add axe heads, space wolves have some plastic axes as does the warhammer range i would imagine.

There are alot of things that could be done but I havent seen many that actually have been

the current 'force halberds' they have are closer to glaives than halberds. have a look at some pictures of halbers and try making your own shapes, there are some mean looking can openers out there (can opener because they were designed to waste knights:cool:)

I keep planning to get some pics done of my minis, hopefully I'll get around to it soon, I've just been a bit busy with other things.

I wanted to point out an issue with using Hammers. There are Thunderhammers in the game, and I think that Grey Knight Terminators may even be permitted to select them from the Armoury. For this reason, I would suggest that Hammers only be used for Thunderhammers to avoid confusing your opponent.

I wouldn't call them amazing, but I like them. I'll see what I can do tomorrow when I get home ;)

And yes, GKT may take thunderhammers, personally though I'd use hammer conversions on PAGK to avoid confusion in the long run.

Heres a picture that has one of my conversions:

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e391/MechImp/Grey%20Knights/DSCI0002.jpg

Ive done a few more, such as maces, hammers, terminators with thunder hammer & storm shield and a terminator using his NFW 2-handed, but don't have pics apart from the terminator.

Very cool mace.
If a GKT has a hammer he needs a Storm Shield aswell to make it a Thunder Hammer.
And they could be painted differently

I'd love to see a GK termie with a long chain ending in a spiked censer spouting cleansing fire. It fits nicely with their 'holy' purpose.

Maybe using the Ball from the new Screaming Bell?

Culven
27-11-2009, 00:30
There is a censor ball on the Chaos Space Marine sprues. There is also the Skaven Plague Monk censor.

Very nice Railgunner. Ok I take it back, a mace would look really cool withing the unit.

I would favor hammers. After all, the branch of the Inquisition they are a part of is called the Order of the Hammer.

hawo0313
27-11-2009, 23:54
Yes but I believe that the hammer should be reserved for those who lead the order i.e. the grand masters and it would be as much a symbol of office as a weapon

hendybadger
28-11-2009, 00:03
Maybe fluff wise. But that wouldnt look half as impressive

28-11-2009, 01:25
Depends on what the hammer looks like. I bet somebody could goob one up all to hell with icons and details to make it look crazy badass. Turn the detail up to 11 so to speak; you know, "Blanchshitsu style". :D

I am thinking of doing a two-handed Nemesis force weapon. Either that or an executioner's sword.

Any weapon you want really. I'd avoid using hammers though as GK termies can take a Thunder hammer and storm shield as a differnt weapon option.

I think they could still be confused with THs, so notifying your opponent would still be a good idea.

I got ideas for a NF fist myself, but the dry runs I tried just didn't look right to me.

Im thinking of cutting just below the elbow half disc and adding a Chaos lord claw or fist

LonelyPath

I was cutting around the same place, but the PFs I tried didn't look right. You never know until you try out a few test runs though, I hope it works well on your conversions :)

I don't see where confusion can come from though, as power armoured grey knights can't have anything but a nemesis force weapon.

like a katar, that would be sweet, and very suitable weapon.

I have an inquisitor scale hammer from brother joseph I am waiting to see how it fits on my brother captain when I get one.
