Hello All,

Basically i want to find a new unique army that not many people do because i am tired of seeing everyone with the same exact army what i want to do is find great alternative armies so if you know any please link me the site as im will to try out anything, im still gonna use the models in fantasy but just want a diffrent company.

Anyways i found a company called mantic games ( http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home.html ) and wanted to know if there usable in fantasy and dont look silly just need to convince myself they are worth it as i dont want to spend like 300 on another army i might use once every month.

Well please can you guys give out some helpful advice as im in a pickle at present.

Thanks again!!

I placed an order with Maelstrom and got a free sprue with 2 elves by mantic games (an archer and archer champion).

They are ok. Very tall and thin. Almost like a tau air caste warrior (from 40K) in body style.

The details are very basic, not sure how easy they would paint up. I haven't tried though - so might be better.

Easy to fit together, although the head doesn't really slot into place, more balnces on top until stuck.

Didn't come with bases - not sure if they do if you buy a box. They do already have a kind of textured base attached to the feet though - so stand up without a base.

They are very cheap - and the pics look ok i think. I rekon an army would look really good (i dont think you could mix gw and mantic) but essentially would be very cheap.

If you want a 'unique' army, then go make a DoW list. You won't see many of those around :)

There's a thread in the rumour round p forum full of mantic news, debate and rumour-

Personally I'm split whether I like their elves or not. A lot of people like their uniqueness and realism whereas some prefer GW's more heroic, read bigger, version. Everyone likes their price though and their undead look stunning.

they look ok atually, especially the warmachines! Very elf-like.
if they did cav models to represent dragon princes and silver helms it could be viable - but we'd also need swordmasters/white lion look-alikes and dont forget chariots!!!

They have undead? Where? I couldn't find anything on that site. Could you provide a link?

Selone came to the Maelstrom event in early November where Mantic had the undead three-ups on show. No-one took pictures though :D Of course, there's alway's Bob...

Yep, they come with 20mm bases which the circle base attached to the figures slot in to.

The spearmen and bowmen figures are exceptionally detailed, quick to build and quick to paint. Photos don't do the figures justice, you need to have the spearmen frame in your hand to judge properly, which is handy, because they are pocket money in comparison to many miniatures out there.

If you want a detailed review of the Elven range, Beasts of War do a brilliant job with the warhost:
