use the existing rules as model to convert IG then house rule away to tune it - obviously works for all races in 40k ....

roll 1d3 in combat and reroll any successful hits in shooting? This should just about simulate how crap the standard las-guardsman is... :D

I plan on making some "Hulk busters" in "Hulk buster armor" which btw is an inside joke with these insane men. The models will be made from various unconverted Catachans :D

There are rules for the imperial guard on the net (search for space hulk bible).

Basically:

5 AP, free 90° turn, Close combat at -2 (-3 if heavy weapon).
Also, they have the fire and move rule (opposite as move and fire), which comes handy.

Moreover, you can have a soldier in overwatch and another one behind him also in overwatch and have both of them shoot (the first is supposed to be kneeling). Also nifty.
