The Sons of Velorex’s fortress monastery has a compound ten square miles this compound is surrounded by walls a quarter of a mile high and half that thick. The grounds are covered with obstacle fields for the training of the Sons main battle force. The main fortress is surrounded by another set of walls and eight anti-ship canons. The main mass of the fortress cannot be seen from the air do to the fact that 85% of it is a bunker where the sons can if necessary can hold foes off indefinitely. Outside of the fortress monastery there are smaller forts at; thesis forts are used by small groups of marines and serfs where supplies and resources are made or grown.

The Sons excel in hit and run tactics to slowly wear down their foe’s forces. The sons will send out small units and then pull back to a larger attack force where the foe is crushed

go get some glade guard and use the cloaks and hooded heads for conversions. just out of curiosity, are you going to be using vulcans rules for your primarch or just his name?

02-01-2010, 17:56
what rules would that be?

vulcan he stan, the sallies special char. twin links all flamers and meltas in your army. awesome force multiplier, but i dont think he will go down well on a forest world...

I like your color scheme if a bit simple and looking slightly unfinished on the dreads. Very nice to see your work come to fruition from the previous thread.

Some foresty conversion work will make them look great.

Thats a nice description of your fortress monastery, with the huge thick walls. I will just fire over them though with my Basalisks and kill all your lovely little marines.
On a more serious note, its nice to see a marine player write a bit of background for his army. If the army employs the hit and run tactic, you should have a look at the White Scars background as they are masters of this. Also, you should add a few more bikes and mabey some Rhinos for the tactical squads. To get hold of the bits you need you may wish to check out the Warseer for sale threads, as theres a fair few marine bits there.
The paintscheme is looking ok, but how many layers did it take you to cover the black with white? Is that bleached bone or skull white or something in the middle, I cant really tell. If it is bleached bone then use skull white as a highlight to improve your painting.
On the black of the armour I would advise putting a few streaks of boltgun metal here and there to show battle damage on the marines, this also stops some people saying your models arent painted (I get told that sometimes because the colours in my scheme are black and silver.

INteresting fluff for your army. But like above I would recommend adding bikes and rhinos. If they specialise in hit and run warfare their chapter and army structure should reflect this. They would be very modile indeed and rarely take to the field as footsloggers.

I really do like the fortress' description though. As for possible sieges against them, maybe have some additional automated defences outside the monastary itself in the shape of gun and missile batteries to deter ground assaults.?
