Does anyone believe in the Random Dice Gods?

Not literally obviously but follow silly practices like uttering the Curse of Snake Eyes when your opponent is rolling.

Or pleading with the Random Dice Gods to give you jaw dropping 6s when rolling to rend.

Do you guys believe is a set of Dices which is meant for you because you always roll 5-6s.

Or have you ever witness how poorly your opponent roll no matter how hard he tried over and over again? lol

Personally, I strongly believe in the theory of Maths-hammer but sometimes Dice Rolls can be just so outrages.

Yes, definately. There have been loads of occasions when I really need a certain dice roll and have got it then thanked the dice gods. A bit sad, I know, but then playing with little plastic men is also quite sad.
With regards to lucky dice, I have two that I got in a GW dice box that allways seem to roll well.

The dice gods are a fun joke.

But all the same, a common thing to hear at the FLGS is ," Come on, roll six 1's." Not unique, but it captures the optimism of gamers well.

No, I don't believe in dice gods, I do believe in incredibly random dice rolls happening and they do quite often, just last night a player rolled 4 5's to hit, then 4 5's to wound with the same dice and rolling properly.

Or wolling four 6's for an assault cannon I find satisfying.

I'd say (in my case and the case of people I know) it's more Kharma than actual dice gods. I've had my DP survive a demolished cannon hit, AND 3 lascannons, only to have him die to heavy bolter fire :( . However, the next turn my furies sweeping advanced his gunlines completely.

So, I think it's Kharma, and when you have a bad roll/game, you're just "building up luck" for later.

I don't believe in the random dice gods.

I do believe in the decidedly non random and highly vindictive dice gods.

What's that, can I roll under 8 on the lowest 2 of 3 dice? Of course not. Can I do it on the re-roll? Not a chance! Now, how far do my expensive infantry block run...here's the double one!

I try the roll 100 dice at it approach, to get results that should be near average, no good..
I try the anything but a one approach, no good...
I try threatening the dice, no good...
any other ideas?

I like to blow on my dice when it's an important role.

Also, I thank the God Emperor when I get good dice rolls. Surely, it means that He is pleased with my work.

Well, I don't really belive in the Dice Gods but I tend to pray/beg them to get good rolls when needed, but it doesn't help at all, it may even make things worse.
Last night I played with my Tau against orks. His nob bikers hat ripped trough my line and all was down to 1 wound each. My devil fish with SMS shot at them. It got help from marklights, so no cover save and fired at bs 5. 7 dice. I rolled and...... five 1's :cries:. I cursed the Dice Gods all night :p

Dice gods eh? :)

let me tell you about my GT qualifying.

Over 6 games:
Of the 42 2+ saves I had to make, I failed 17. Of these saves my terminators had to take 33 and failed 15, giving them little better than scout armor.
Against Eldar firedragons and Necrons I made had a total of 54 powerfist attacks from scout sergeants, (hitting on 4s, killing on 2s) but caused only 9 wounds. Against Plaguebearers I made 10 powerfist attacks and killed only 2.
For 6 Ld9 pinning checks from vehicles destroyed, 4 were failed.
Vulkan's twinlinking was somewhat lackluster. I made a total of 19 BS4 Meltashots in the game of which 12 hit making them slightly less accurate than a standard BS4 gun. The BS3 Multimelta hit exacly 50% of the time.
With only one dice on a multimelta I never rolled higher than a 4 for armor penetration against a vehicle's front armor. I only managed to kill one vehicle in the game when not hitting it when stationary with a powerfist or hitting it in the back armor with a twin linked meltashot.
Of 20 penetrating hits with non AP1 weapons, 16 results were 1 or 2.
In every game against my Land Raider, the first weapon capable of scoring a penetrating hit fired at it, hit, penetrated and either scored immobilised or destroyed. Of the 6 penetrating hits scored against my land raider in the first 5 games, all of them were 5+.

This entire affair (and despite buying a new set of dice halfway through the Tournament) has lead me to invest in extremely expensive perfect quality casino dice for my next outing which is this Weekend.

We shall see if the dice gods are appeased :)

For me, the dice gods are replaced by the rule of Inverse Crazy. It states that," The higher the BS of the army, the less accurate the shooting".

I'm dead serious. When I play Space Marines you would think they were BS 2. May the Emperor have mercy on anyone who plays against me should I restart playing Orks.

I'm sure it's him. I do the same thing twice a day. Unfortunately, the population in my city is now severly low.

Anyway, you are all very lucky. I am very tempted to show how devoted I am to the dice gods by burning all heretics on this thread that say overwise.

What colour is your army/unit? what colour is your dice?

I have noticed the dice gods like matching colours.
When rolling for fire dragons I use red dice, dire avengers get blue dice, scorpions use green, anything using guardian gunners or crew gets purple (my craftworld colour)

This allways helps appease the dice gods ;)

Fluffwise yes I believe in the Dice Gods, but that's because to me they are Chaos Gods who controls them, want to see me fail or win depending on how much I have worshipped them in the last couple of days/weeks. :p

Based purely on the experiences of playing my son and of watching other people play my son I believe the Random Dice Gods favor young children.

i always put my dice back in the pot after a roll so there aren't any "live" dice on the table.

I also have an uncanny knack of rolling far too many 1s and 2s when i play marines but roll over the odds when i play as BS2 orks.

On a similar note - Does anyone have "lucky" or "reliable" units , or likewise ones that seem like they should be good but seem to suffer from appalling luck? (I had a friend whose fireprism didn't hit for over a years worth of games, for instance)

In 3rd edition i used to write out roster cards for a lot of my units. These days i haven't got round to it since the changes in codexes but i would make a note of units that seem,ed to regularly do well and they developed a history for themselves.

Hmmmmm...if there is Dice Gods then I might be one of their children.
I seem to make the most amazing rolls at the most random but critical times. My opponents seem to make their worst rolls after I commit to a random idea. In fact the more random and confusing my game strategys are the better my rolls. I laugh at Mathammer as it does not acuratly protrays my rolling. Make 15 saves for my ravenor, check. Make consistantly 15 hits with a rapid firing 8 man tactical squad, check. Make 13 of those hits wound, check. Kill a predator with a gun drone on the first turn of the game, check.
I don't pray to the dice gods.....I pray to myself.

Dice God... I don't know, but I think that GW designs his dices for roll often 1's and almost never 6's.

Perfectly ordinary chessex type ones, in very large numbers. Personalised equipment, or having the kit you want is all well and good, but it is not the Guard way.
These lasguns, errr dice, were perfectly good enough for the last men to use them, and they'll be good enough for the next!

I have come to the conclusion trough empirical studies that the dice gods are very unpredictable. They only seem to listen to me 1/6 of the time when I ask for a particular number.

When I find a die on the floor, I always nominate it to be my lucky die for the day. It will end up rolling above average about ― of the time.

With regards to lucky dice, I have two that I got in a GW dice box that allways seem to roll well.
This might be because they are poorly balanced.

Seriously, though, I don't really invoke anything or believe in anything. The dice will be what they are.

I believe, like any sensible person, in the REAL dice gods. Gone are the caring visage that the pretenders to the throne put on to claim believers. These gods are bastards and hate you. They lie in wait for the moment when you need a positive dice roll to play up and feed upon your cries of dispair.

It became an in joke amongst players at our club for a while thet when rolling dice you would remove any successful rolls, dig out the 1s one rolled and combine the dice that rolled ones with new dice. The theory being that the sucessful dice had 'used up all their luck'. T'was good just for the look on peoples face when we went to tourneys :D

Dice God... I don't know, but I think that GW designs his dices for roll often 1's and almost never 6's.

That is actually true, GW dice have been proven to have around a 27.5% chance to roll a 1. That is why I use casino quality instead. Avoid none weighted and round edges!

I don't perform many specific rituals regarding dice, but the dice gods do certainly seem to have specific rituals for me. With my marines, I always take my lascannon/missile launcher dreadnought. The missile misses, the lascannon hits (without needing the T-L re-roll) but fails to wound. Then my assault squad reach the enemy and carve through half the army.

For my daemonhunters, I can only ever roll 2s and 3s for armour saves, which invariably results in games where by turn 3 all that's left is 2 indestructible inquisitors in artificer armour.

I haven't yet noticed any patterns in my Tyranids or fantasy armies, but I bet they're there.

Last Apocalypse game 20 Sternguards with kombi-meltas didnīt manage do bring down a brass scorpion hitting his side armor. But a single (!!!) obliberator shot at my baneblade with a multi-melta, hitting, penetrates... the dices rolled.. 6... rolled... 6.... rolled... 6. One dead BB for 500 points in round one. Jay!

In fantasy the dice gods are with me, but 40k dices always seem to hate me :D

Once you play a game against me you find that statistics is lying in a pool of his own blood in an alleyway somewhere while this, "dice god" has taken all it's clothes, impersonated his accent and come long just annoy the living hell out of me.

the number of wounds caused by first rank fire second rank firing guardsmen squads are inversley proportional to the amout of screams of "look at all those dice! YOUR DEAD" that come from the nooblets watching.

I.E. if im playing a game with a few quiet observers then my guardsmen kill xenos by the dozen but when there are loud kids remarking on the massive number of dice I role then my guardsmen leave their aim at home

and my commissars are ridiculously tough and have a penchant for firing bolter rounds into the heads of open topped vehicle pilots.

So in conclusion, the dice gods hate me and are only appeased by the burning of my bad rolling dice :D

At my club, there is a guy who rolls so well we accused him of cheating. As a demonstration, he threw his old dice in the trash, bought new ones on the spot from the store, played with them, and still rolled great.

On the other side of things... he also often holds up a simple 1 finger when you roll a critical roll. This creepy voodoo works every time.

I believe more in my models cooperating with their commander than the fickle dice gods. My local gaming club is named "Evil Dice" after all. In all seriousness, my models seem to have things they love to do and excel at. For example my Grey Hunters and Tactical Marines LOVE to fire bolters. Bolter bolter bolter, all the time. Whenever I roll that 20 round volley, between 17 and 20 will hit, it's very ridiculous. It is not uncommon for me to only have one or two misses!

I pray to the Dice Gods for every important roll. More often than not it helps :)

However, seing how fickle they are, I never use the same dice for my next roll, otherwise I'll roll dismally.

I believe they have a great sense of humour as when someone assualt cannoned my carnie and got three 6's to hit i went "if only you had old rending" and he then rolled 4 6's to wound and killed him:cries:
and i also have a sieze the initiative dice which works if someone goes oh dont bother you wont do it or something similar
p.s. they also favour noobs so be more newbie and you will win;)

I do not worship the dice gods, for I am thier jester =(.

Like the last time I played 40K for instance. In an entire combat of 5 Wolf Guard, shooting from my Long Fangs, and a combat with 10 of my Grey Hunters; I rolled only 1s for an entire turn 0.0. (A couple were not ones, but if they were not they were followed by a one to mitigate the first roll anyway)

This cost me the entire match. I hope the dice gods are happy.

I have noticed the dice gods like matching colours.

Liiiiiieeesssssssss.

I got Blue die (stolen, I pity the guy that uses them though) for my Lizardmen and Black die for my Beastmen.

The blue die loved rolling low for anything but a leadership test (not even leadership on 3D6 helped).

But the black are a little better, apart from the artillery dice, which I give great relish in handing over to any player who needs to fire a cannon .
