This is kind of a branch-off of my previous thread.

If Hollywood were to make a huge Warhammer movie and spent more money on it than any other movie ever, who would you like to see play these parts?

Malus Darkblade

Orion

Teclis

Archaon

All the Von Carsteins

Crone Hellebron

Morathi

King Louen Leoncouer

High King Thorgrim

King Alrik

Thorek Ironbrow

Emperor Karl Franz

Valten

Prince Tyrion

Greasus Goldtooth

Wulfrik the Wanderer

Sigvald the Magnificent

Missing the most important character of them all.
Who will play Gotrek Gurnisson? and slightly less important, who makes a good Felix Jaeger and Snorri Nosebiter.

Brad Pitt as King Louen : That's what I like to hear. But I got a word of warning for all you would-be warriors. When you join my command, you take on debit. A debit you owe me personally. Each and every man under my command owes me one hundred Empire scalps. And I want my scalps. And all y'all will git me one hundred Imperial scalps, taken from the heads of one hundred dead Handgunners. Or you will die tryin'.

Malus Darkblade - Richard Roxburgh or Karl Urban

Orion - I don't know about this one, but NOT Dwayne Johnson!

Teclis - Sean Bean.

Archaon - ???

All the Von Carsteins - I have no clue but I'll definately think more on it...

Crone Hellebron - Kate Beckinsale for sure!

Morathi - Angelina Jolie

King Louen Leoncouer - Liam Neeson

High King Thorgrim - Tiny Scottsman 1?

King Alrik - Tiny Scottsman 2?

Thorek Ironbrow - Tiny Scottsman 3?

Emperor Karl Franz - Gerard Butler

Valten - Brad Pitt (or Timothy Olyphant with his hair grown out)

Prince Tyrion - Not sure about this one either.

Greasus Goldtooth - Ethan Suplee (lol)

Wulfrik the Wanderer - Brendan Gleeson (easily)

Sigvald the Magnificent - This is an interesting one...

The whole cast on Monty Python as all the Special characters. That would be the best movie/parody ever.

Imagine John Cleese as Malekith, Eric Idle or Terry Jones as Morathi :D You get the idea.

Being a BBC news watcher, rather than a TV show watcher, I thought you meant Mark Urban there (http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/460000/images/_463078_urban_cut2.jpg).

A classic, if even slightly camp, take on the Dark Elf motives from someone who knows his military history inside out. I like!

Be realistic y'all!

If this movie is ever going to be made, it will be on the provision that it's written, directed and starring Jervis Johnson, Gav Thorpe and the rest.

Now try to imagine what Morathi would look like in that film!

I can't even begin to think about this stuff...

The Chaos Champion should be Christian Bale. That might work...

"You're a ********** ugly b****. I want to stab you to death, and then play around with your blood!"

"I like to dissect girls. Did you know I'm utterly insane? "

"I have all the characteristics of a human being: blood, flesh, skin, hair; but not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust. Something horrible is happening inside of me and I don't know why. My nightly bloodlust has overflown into my days. I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I think my mask of sanity is about to slip. "

Best lines ever.

That was just a bit of fun, but TBH part of the success of LOTR was that the main actors were not big names, or at least not by Hollywood standards anyway. The biggest names (from a high-grossing blockbuster point of view) were probably Hugo Weaving (Matrix), Cate Blanchette (Elizabeth), Liv Tyler (Armageddon and...umm, that Aerosmith video with Alicia Silverstone...) and Christopher Lee.

I've kind of had my eye on this thread for a few days now and while i think a Warhammer movie is a bit of a flawed idea (particularly if you lose focus by trying to cover too much of the setting) how we perceive the characters and articulating that through our choices of actors to 'play' them is very interesting. To an extent the process kind of depends on 'typecasting' since we're effectively going on the kind of roles the actors (and actresses) were most associated with, but that's no bad thing because regardless of how type-cast these people would be, they still bring something more to our perception of the characters mannerisms and such.

So with that very high-brow, over analytical introduction over, here are some of my thoughts:

Throt the Unclean: Omid Djalili. There is a very comic element to all Skaven characters (as you'll see- i've been thinking a lot about them) and with Throt, the large gut and his role as a trader of working animals and beasts of war does remind me of the archetypal swarthy slave-trader, invariably either a slav, a middle-eastern or a jew in movies: think Watto from the Phantom Menace or.... well pretty much any of Omid Djalili's roles. There was a story where Archaon's emmisaries come to commission the Flayerkin and while guiding them around his laboratory Throt's third arm snakes up behind their head with calipers- a perfect example of his overactive imagination and sneaky nature.

Grey Seer Thanquol: Nigel Hawthorne. Yes he's dead, but i'm a huge fan of Yes, Minister and if ever there was a blueprint for the kind of character Thanquol is, it's Sir Humphrey Appleby. They are both master manipulators, but the real defining element of their similarity is the place they hold within their respective worlds. In both cases they are in a sense 'secure': Sir Humphrey is a permanent secretary in the Civil Service rather than a government minister, while Thanquol is a Grey Seer and protected to an extent from the ruthless cut-throat power games Warlords must face. However neither is at the top of their league, both have to tow the line in the face of their superiors: some of the best scenes in Yes, Minister are the meetings between Sir Humphrey and the imperious Sir Arnold Robinson, where Humphrey is shown as not quite as omnipotent as he seen when Sir Arnold could destroy his career merely by putting a question-mark over his 'soundness'. Thanquol too is subject to the velvet glove of his superior's power- if the Council of Thirteen deemed him to be a rival to their positions, they could very easily ostracise him from their favour and that would mean (though they're far too mighty to resort to ordering his assassination themselves) his almost inevitable death at the hands of his rivals, seeing their chance at the big time.

Warlord Queek Headtaker: Johnny Depp. Again this is based pretty much on a single performance- Jack Sparrow. Queek to my mind is kind of a pirate captain of the Warhammer world- all the swagger, the flamboyance, the affectations of class and sophistication, even dare i say it honour.....but he's still a rat. Although he presents himself as a duelist, a gentleman fighter and his trophy-rack both a reminder of his skill and an honour to his most challenging adversaries, i think there is no illusion that not one of those trophies was gained fairly- You can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.

Too many big names mentioned in this thread, and not enough good actors.

Personally I'd want to find roles for Mark Strong and Brian Cox (the latter would make a good Dwarf King). The guy who plays the vampire in being human might make a good Wood or Dark Elf. I like the idea of Zachary Quinto as a Dark Elf.

Of course, one of the big problems with making a Warhammer film is you'd have to focus on two or three races. If you tried to fit all the races in to keep everyone happy, you'd end up with a complete mess. Empire would have to be the main protagonist - they pretty much define the Warhammer world. And that leaves a gap for one or two evil races, and maybe some Dwarf allies (just to fit Brian Cox in).

I think Mark Strong as said above would be excellent in a bad-guy role in a Warhammer movie. Particularly a Chaos Sorcerer of some description, he seemed to do the role well in Sherlock Holmes.

I'd be tempted to have him as a rather nasty Imperial Noble, with perhaps Liam Neeson as a more noble Noble. Though he'd make a pretty good cult leader. Frankly, he'd make a good anything - probably my favourite actor.
