Ok guys so I've been hit with a Warbands addiction! If you only had 500pts to spend and had to use Warbands rules what would you bring? I think I would bring something like this

Dark Elf Sorceress
Dark Steed
Lvl 1

10 Corsairs
Full command

5 Corsairs

5 shades

4 CoK

I would like to think of this force as a small slave hunting party

Also Sorry if this post is in the wrong section!!!

Under the old 6th ed 555 rules I took a ratling gun and a warlock engineer. Every game was a bloodbath. My army was literally Sorceror, Gun, Clanrats, Globadiers.

Glad I don't play against most of you, I thought Warbands was supposed to be a fun game, not a competition to see who can come up with the most abusive list.

Can't remember mine exactly, but it was something like...

Warrior Priest, GW & Heavy Armour

19 Zealots (Free Company), Full Command

10 Crossbowmen, inc. Marksman

10 Flagellants, inc. Doom Prophet

5 Witch Hunters (Pistoliers), inc. Outrider & Musician

...came to around 500 pts I think. Armour of Meteoric Iron if I can afford it.

Unfortunately Warrior Priests are next to useless in Warbands, as the two default dispel dice are more than enough to beat a power level 4 bound spell/prayer. I learned that the hard way.

My current Warbands list (I'm playing it as well, as an introduction to Fantasy) is:
Captain w/ Full Plate, Shield, +1 Str Sword
Captain w/ Full Plate, Horse, Lance, Shield

15 swordsmen w/ musician, banner
7-man handgunner detachment
7-man halberdier detachment

5-man crossbowmen

Helblaster Volleygun

We've all just started playing Fantasy at my FLGS, and so far this list has carried me to the top. Some games the Helblaster gets 28 shots, others it blows on the first round of fire.. I love the thing.
My captain on the horse is missing an eye, but what does he need BS for? He runs about taking out enemy long-range weapons (ex. my friend's repeating bolt-thrower).

easy peesy

Night Goblin Big Boss, Giant Squig, light armour, sheild, martogs best basha, brimstone bauble

30 night goblins, full command, netters, spears, 1 fantic
20 night goblin archers, full command, 1 fantic
5 squig hoppers

i belive its 500pts on the nose!

Yep, true. Fits with my theme though, so I don't really care if it's less than optimum.

I am actually participating in a Warband campaign right now and my Dwarf warband is like this:

Thane Commander - GW, SH, Crossbow, Rune of Stone
10 Quarreller Rangers - GW, SH
8 Thunderers - SH
Gyrocopter

It works fairly well, especially since almost everyone else just took core shooting units. I can set up close with my quarrellers (and i try to get them into the building I always place in turn 1) and I keep my thunderers deployed where they can protect my deployment. Meanwhile my gyro flies around the field and panics all the low T no armor shooters off of the table. The commander protects the thunderers from getting charged.

I am going to be running a warband campaign next month. I have always loved the warband rules, as it is a little fantasy and a little Mordheim (with the experience). It is also a great way to get new people in the game. This is the Warriors of Choas warband I plan on using.

Exlated Hero (extra weapon, shield, roar gift)
Marauders (10, flails)
Marauders (10, flails)
Warhounds (5, poison attacks, scaly skin)
Ogre (1,extra weapon)
