Bloated point cost but this thing is absoutely insane, has anyone actually used one yet? Looks like a carnifex with scything talons for front arms to walk on, still has the hoof hind legs (according to the codex picture).

How are some of you making the cannon?

For any records, the search function did NOT work for me so don't bring it up :)

Check out this guy's (http://raptor1313.blogspot.com/2010/02/tyrannofex-conversion-complete.html) Tyrannofex. It's nothing short of awesome.

that's awesome, I have a spare part from my girl's Daemon Soul Grinder, the gnarly looking crab pincer thing I want to try to add on there, maybe convert the talon end with half of the pincer

If you are playing against the Eldar, a Tyrannofex is the scariest thing on the board. Acid Spray simply owns almost all Aspect Warriors and will auto kill almost every Eldar Model. I love it.

I haven't tried it yet myself, but there is a very nifty guide on someone's conversion here: http://www.yesthetruthhurts.com/2010/01/how-to-tyrannofex-conversion-guide.html

Split roll with stuff that does its job better + huge pts cost.

those are nice conversions, but they dont look like the picture :(
i think the carines legs look to small, so maybe use a tyrant guards front legs and since it has a small head use its upper body on a trygons body.then you just need to bulk it out and find someway to make a the guns look a lot bigger

That is a quality conversion, Im not sure which cannon I like better though, the one Tymell linked to is good too.

My main Tyranid opponent uses an old Armorcast Exocrine. Perfect fit.

Indeed, depending on whether the Tyrannofex has a Rupture Cannon or an Acid Spray, the old Exocrine or Haruspex models fit in rather well. Perhaps the Tyrannofex is their reincarnatio, brought into line with the "new look" Tyranids...

Heck, even the Tervigon fits into the Malefactor mold somewhat.

So far id say that yours is probably the closest to the art work that ive seen. good job on it. not to say the others are bad but to me personally some of them are hard to tell what they are supposed to be between a carnifex or tyrant.
