Well this is my first thread I hope I'm not posting it a the wrong place.

I was wondering do you have songs that remind you of an army ?

Every time I listen to Hell's bells from AC/DC I imagine Skavens. The bell at the beginning and the lyrics both remind me of this army. The bell is even ringing 13 times.

Total eclipse of the heart fits nicely with my battle plan when using goblins (and specifically doing all of the animosity tests which a full goblin army requires)

Now I rember somthing called warhammer records, there were many warhammer tribute bands, heres a few.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-Rok_(band) "here come, here come, the noise marines" it even had a member of queen in it. Im one of the few people who still actly owns this album :D

This one is pretty good too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolt_Thrower there relm of chaos album was awsome for 80s death metal, plauge bearer and world eater were awsome songs! "Infectious disease, feel your body rot, Your final lamentmWill soon be forgot"

Sorry just some fun facts about warhammer music I know its 40k but theres no WHFB tribute bands that I can find.

And as for the song that makes me think of warhammer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzziTXns1jA

As sad as it sounds, my band Gravedirt (although we are currently changing the name) have some GW inspired stuff. The song 'Thunderkill' is loosely based on The Emperor of Mankind and Horus. We have a song called 'Witch Hunt' which has flavors of the =][= although its more about Matthew Hopkins, the Witchfinder General. We'll have more stuff soon... lol!

So, does anyone remember Sabbat? Blood for the Blood God?

I'm a HUGE Bolt Thrower fan, and I think it's perfect for playing 40K to lol! For some reason VNV Nation also reminds me of the plight of Space Marines etc etc...

Yup, me too ;)

I'm one of the lucky ones that is old enough to have bought and still own an original 12" picture disc of their first album, back in the day when they were still sponsored by GW :D

I think my Marauder Hordes theme tune would be 'March of the Fire Ants' by Mastodon though :)

I just listen to Therion - Vovin whenever I play games at my home, where I mostly play. It may be a matter of habbit, but it is great and inspiring music, and lasts a long time.

Led Zeppelins "Immigrant Song" reminds me of warriors of chaos. It should be their theme song.

Rotersands "Exterminate annihilate destroy" reminds me of necrons.

Deleriums "Terra Firma" reminds me of bretonnians.

Joe bean eposito has a song "the best around" that reminds me of ogre kingdoms. It's the song from the karate kid. Ogres think they are awesome but they aren't. Just like the song. In fact the rocky theme song reminds me of ogres too. Probably because I feel like an 80s action hero playing with my ogres.

Just about any enya song makes me think of my wood elves. Lol.

O Fortuna for Bretonnia. If you disagree go watch Excalibur!

And i have a feeling I'll be humming 'Hell March' from Red Alert 2 quite a bit once i start my imperial guard army...or Imperial March :p

Godsmack - vampires. Who does that song remind you of?
Rob Zombie also has some good songs for VC.
For Dwarves, Mein Herz Brent by Rammstein, immigrant song by led zeppelin, and for a gunline listening to 21 guns by green day is fun :P

Holy Grail by Hunters and Collectors for Bretonnia. OMG that song is epic.

Back in Black by ACDC or What I've Done by Linkin Park for Slaanesh Chaos.

Jingle Bells for Skaven. (But my mental image of Skaven is tainted by having to remind my friend that they do not hump trees. That's probably the Wood Elves.)

Oh yes and Home and Broken Hearted by Cold Chisel sums up the poor Dwarves pretty well too. :D

Thats all I can think of for now.

I always enjoy "Raise the dead" by Bathory when, well, I'm raising undeads in a game. (and modelling/painting them:)
When I successfully kill something with my banshee, I put on " Cry of the banshee" by Brocas Helm.

Probably some folk music for the ethnic groups the warhammer races are supposed to represent.

-German for the Empire
-French for Bretonnia
-Ancient Egypt themed for Tomb Kings
-Eastern European for Vampire Counts
-Mayan for Lizardmen
for example.

Sigur Ros' song Njósnavélin.

This to me has an Elven quality that would tie in with the High Elves. It makes me think of them returning to Ulthuan after suffering many losses and contemplating the events that have come to pass.

Heck yes! Nile rock!

I'm going to the Birmingham Asylum show next month for the Bolt Thrower gig. I saw them 1st when I was 13 in the back room of the General Wolfe in Foleshill, Coventry. I'm actually planning my entire trip back home to the UK around that show lol!

Here's my take (within the parameters of "modern music that suits various warhammer factions"):

Khorne: OK fine, metal actually fits here. Metallica or somesuch.

Tzeentch: something off-beat and trippy. Maybe Flaming Lips, although they're not quite right.

Slaanesh: indulgent hedonism - gotta be Lady GaGa!

Nurgle: really not sure on this one. Something macabre, but slow and brooding. Tom Waits isn't too bad, I s'pose.

Greenskins: rowdy drunken brawling music, like Dropkick Murphys or Gogol Bordello, or some of the older punk bands. Can't venture too far into hardcore punk though, because then you're missing out on the whole "three sheets to the wind/who gives a rat's ass?" aspect of them.

Wood Elves: if you're looking for serenity, maybe Sufjan Stevens?

High Elves: Sigur Ros.

Lizardmen: Seu George.

Dwarfs: Off Kilter (a self-described "Celtic Rock Band", kinda like Flogging Molly but way more bagpipes and way less modern punk rock).

Ogre Kingdoms: Queens of the Stone Age

Dark Elves: Mindless Self Indulgence

The Empire: maybe The Decemberists? I really hate that band, but something about it seems to kinda match (to my ears, at least).

Other factions just don't fit anything I can come up with. Brettonians and Undead of any variety fall into this category.
