Hi.

Had there been some kind of show or opening lately? Because over on 40konline there had been a new user posting this picture and I can't remember that we've seen multiple different posed/modelled Shadow Spectres so far.
This picture tells us they probably come in a pack of 5 different poses, but I can't see an Exarch among them.

They also had a great closeup-shot (although not new) from the Phantom Titan which I also had not seen so far here on warseer.

I thought so share.

the squad shot is probably from the GCN Event they had up at Warhammer World the other week.

Interesting. I gotta say though that these rocks look rather weird :/

Even though the pic is sharp, the lighting isn't really 100% top notch. I've seen them in person at GD and I thought they were awesome. They are armed with mini fire prisms and some kind of jump packs that make them look like they are semi floating (thus the specters part in their name).

Personally, I can't wait till IA 12 :D .

This is the first I'm hearing of shadow specters, or seeing of these models. Are they Forgeworld? Is there rules for them somewhere?

Yes, they are Forgeworld. I believe the rules for them are going to be in a future IA book after Badab War, along with Space Wolves too i think.

Upcoming FW IA book Eldar v Imperial Yes-men and other awesome instruments of Imperial policy.

Nothing known until then about the fluff.

Thank you.
So the models should be released with this book then. That is most exciting news.

Oh, nice! Thanks for those, Hendarion. The rocks look like the ones I already put on my bases, so these should fit in nicely.

The worst about these rocks is that there is no chance to get cover for those fellows :p
ForgeWorld, I call this modelling for disadvantage! ;)

Hah, good point. Going by most FW rules they wouldn't be worth fielding compared to other choices anyway, but they look so nice it'll be rude not to get a squad.

The Phantom looks like it's not a particularly complex kit when compared to the other titans, so hopefully it won't be horrendously expensive.

Hmm, the Phantom seems to have at least 5 parts for the torso, not counting the shoulders yet, just the breast and belly. That's more than the Revenant which was already hard enough to pose properly :p

If spectres will be worth it... dunno, but jetpacks already give them a really nifty option to hide-shoot-hide. Pop-up-attack, invented by Eldar, finally used again by them :p

Agreed. Heck, even the feet and ankle section looks more complicated than anything in the Revenant, and I turned mine into swiss cheese trying to get the holes right for the pins. Compared to the Warhound and Reaver though, this thing looks like it'll be a breeze to assemble.

Looking at the Spectres again, I notice they still haven't got an exarch yet. Hard to imagine how they could make one look more ornate.

Hendarion

Well, I can imagine a really ornate armoured Exarch :p
But considering the number "5", it doesn't sound like very likely.
And even if they'll get an Exarch, I doubt the armour will be very ornate anyway. GW/Forgeworld is not really famous for making such patterns on armour. :/

Hell, look at these:

That's the number of details (not the shape though) I would imagine an Exarch to have somehow.
Well... if there will be an Exarch and it's flat, I'll paint the ornates :D

The models do look nice. I think they might make good 'count as' wraith guard. I don't see a 5 man squad costing more than 42.50.

Hendarion

42.50? Hell, 10 Elysians or 5 RedScorpions cost 36! Don't scare me, dude. :p

BigBarryJazz
21-12-2010, 16:09
I think he's indirectly pointing out the absurdity of the cost of wraithguard :p. With the elevated height from their bases, they probably aren't much taller. If only they looked like they could justify T6 I would actually consider that idea.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't an exarch. Who would teach new recruits? Most the aspect warrior packs comes with 6 figs, so it would make sense for them to round out the 5 we've seen with an exarch. If they make multiple weapon options too, that'd be fantastic, but given the specialist nature of the guns I think I'm being unrealistic.

True, if you consider it that way.

Yea, I doubt he gets a choice. But probably a slightly different one as every aspect. Let's hope it's not a close-combat-weapon ;)

OK, today I made the post and today also came the announcement from ForgeWorld:

The first few months of the New Year will see the long-awaited release of the mysterious Shadow Spectre Aspect Warrior Squad. A model from this kit was first unveiled at Games Day UK back in September, and the talented Simon Egan has produced another four Shadow Spectres and is currently working his sculpting magic on an Exarch to lead the unit.

It WILL have an Exarch! Wohooo. So 5 guys + Exarch. Pimp.

I wonder what AV they'll give to the Phantom Titan. I mean, it has armour plates as thick as an entire Space Marine, far more than a LandRaider or Imperial Tank, but I doubt it'll get more than AV12.

Directly heard at the FW open day last march:

ideas of rules include 7-8 structure points armour 13 and lots of holo fields saves that will make it very hard to take out.

A lot could have changed since then, but it would be extremely annoying if it still has less front armour than a dreadnought the size of its foot.

Hendarion

Oh wow. So at least some reasoning, even if not fully. Super heavies should have different treating for armour imo. They have way more armour than a LandRaider. But well, probably hard to do.
Some nice (single 4+ safe isn't that ownage compared to void fields) holos could be pimp.
Damn, I'm so hyped about these things since we got the first pics...
