View Full Version : Looking for info on Zuzzy Gaming Mats

I'm looking to put together a gaming table and stumbled across Zuzzy Miniatures. They make latex rubber gaming mats (among other things of course) that look really cool. The issue I have is that they come unpainted and you have to paint yourself. I'm curious if anyone has these mats, and if so, how have they held up after being painted? Can it still be rolled up as they say on the site? Did you follow the painting instructions on the site?

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a link (http://www.zuzzy.com/)to their site

I bought a gaming mat at zuzzy. I havent really finished painting it, it's just basecoated brown (I used some acrylic paint). I think it's great, easy to roll up and put away when you are done gaming and it's the perfect size for a normal battlefield (bought the 4' x 6' version).

While I don't have experience with those, I do have a GW one :

The quality is really good, it's the perfect size, it's thick and durable while still being flexible. It's also alot cheaper than the zuzzy ones (56$ I saw?). Just a thought.

We havae about 10 down at the club. They have seen HEAVY use for years, and still look like the day they were painted.

The only complaint I have is that some of them are a bit rough - rough enough that 16mm dice can be cocked on them. I use huge Vegas-style craps dice so it's not an issue for me, but the 3 rough mats are always the last ones picked when we set up on club night.

I buddy has one and it is awesome. It looks great and when scenery/bases are painted to match it it really increases immersion. I highly recommend them.

The only minor complaint is they smell like latex. But they are made of latex so big surprise huh? That, and the dice issue. If you use the small GW dice you may want to make a small dice box to avoid questionable rolls.
