Has anyone considered the optimal build for the WH Inquisitor Lord? when Daemonhunters rotates out, the 98-100 pt HQ that allows us to use assassins is going to go away, which leaves WH as the only viable choice. Are people going to go for the CC variant (multiple Crusaders) or for Leadership shenanigans - a Chirugeon to negate the occasional Perils test and multiple familiars for extra powers, or for a mix of the two or a combination that I haven't described?

or are our allies headed for 'The Land of Forgotten Toys' when we cannot use mystics anymore?

Currently, I run an Inq. Lord with Psycannon, Bolt Pistol, Targeter, and Psychic Hood, accompanied by 3 plasma vets and 2 mystics.

He will be replaced by a Witchunter Inq. Lord with a Psychic Hood and the Divine Pronouncment power, 3 plasma vets, and 2 Penitents. Exact same points. If the army allows me, I'll be giving him a Combi-Plasma for the times he runs into all fearless armies (freaking demons).

Sorry, my personal build is:
DH Inquisitor Lord, Psychic Hood, Emperor's Tarot, 3x Mystics (and to round it off to 100 pts, BP & CCW). Which I use to access the Callidus assassin.

my WH Inq Lord is likely going to be:
DH Inquisitor Lord, Psychic Hood, Hammer of the Witches(?), (Purgatus or Divine Pronouncement), Chirugeon, Familiar, and maybe Plasma Cannon Servitor (I haven't made up my mind on the last henchman).

Isn't an inquisitor lord a great deal better without a retinue?

Certainly hope they go the way of the Dodo...

Allies should be for apocalypse only.

If you need 2 codexes to play one army, why play?

Why not play? It's merely a different style of list building. There is no great right or wrong here.
I personally like ally rules and it seems fantasy is moving more towards it with the new ally rules and the GW website suggestion that they can be used in friendly games one on one, yet 40k is moving away from it altogether it seems.

I'd personally like if 20% of your points in a game could be used on any allied faction in a manner similar (though scaled back) as in Apocalypse.

I wish that they could be taken without a retinue. :(
problem being that they are mandatory for the lord.

i used to love the combos you could achieve but i'm pretty sure GW's trying to stamp stuff like that out, (changing the way chaos in fantasy works, phasing out dogs of war etc) but back (slightly) on topic, the WH and DH pdf rules just released have the allies rules completely removed, they've just been chopped off the bottom of the page. sad times :(

Inq Lord with Bolter.
3x Heavy Bolter Servators
Medic
Acolytes for flavour.

WH Inquisitors can't do combat, and our powers are just not very good.

sorry, I love assassins, which are my sole real reason for including allies. some things don't work terribly well either - a PAGK squad escorting Yarrick around has its merits, as does a squad of GKTs. Problem being that if you take GKTs, they are either going to be risking mishaps or walking across the board instead of being deployed in assault transports.

the big thing to keep in mind about the WH though is that they're excellent for Ld Shenanigans as I noted in my first post. Using leadership debuffs in an army with a multitude of pinning weapons or the callidus neural shredder.

losing the mystics' overwatch is going to hurt - no argument there, but the thread is a question of what comes after.

sorry kinda missed the point :p, tbh i don't think it'll hurt tactics wise as the books change and improve but i'll miss just being able to check in a low level inquisitor and some stormtroopers to add some flavour to a battle (and cheaply hold an objective :p)

There is when people only took the DH =][= for the 2x Mystics standing next to your biggest Ordnance. Rinse and repeat.

Yawnsome. I will be all too happy to see the back of this aberration.

I tried to only put them near regular units (like tactical squads, etc) in normal games of 40k and use them to target those that DS to close. In Apocalypse though they'd be positioned near any super heavies I had.
