My brother is started to get green fever and it is all centered around an army of big uns and thus Gorbad.

I'm assuming the current book doesn't really cover all of the Gorbad fluff, so where would be the best place to get his full story?

I suppose the 4th/5th edition armybook is the best place to start... But is long OOP I'm afraid...

The current book actually covers Gorbad pretty well.

EDIT: I have the 5th edition Orcs & Goblins book, and Gorbad's story is practically identical. The 8th edition book expands upon it a little but that's it.

Damn I used to own the 5th edition somewhere, but im pretty sure it went through the wash somehow, in the pocket of some enormous trousers perhaps? :D

8th book does a really good job with Gorbad's history.

Gorbad's original history is in the 4/5th edition book. Pretty much the same, though in the old book he rode a chariot pulled by 3 wolves (yes, like Grom) in one of the key battles of his campaign.

The most important difference is the true name of Gorbad's axe is: Morgor the Mangler, not 'morglor'...it's morGOR!

I'd say ignore any version that mentions a Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges of Magic. :shifty:

There was a neat pdf GW put on their website after the 8th ed armybook came out that outlines Waaagh! Gorbad in a timeline and makes suggestions on how to play each significant battle on the tabletop (from him conquering the orcs of Iron Rock to his defeat at the hands of the Dwarfs at Blood Peak). I can't find it on the site but I can email it to you - or I can print it off and bring it to your tourney next week if you'd like.

But as everyone has said, the older army books provide the same, if not less detail than the 8th. Interestingly, there is one black library novel (Runefang) that has adventurers going in search of the Runefang which he had taken. IIRC, it gives a little bit of info on his demise after his defeat at Blood Peak, and the rise of a new warboss.

I have that PDF file, but it is just a timeline with pictures on a double page. To large to post here anyhow (2,43MB).

He never made it to the 6th edition or the characters for that edition that got online rules, so nothing there. The only warhammer fantasy (tm) official sources are 5th, 7th and 8th with a few spelling differences and a bit less text in the fifth.

There is also, from another perspective, a WD article on the loss of the Solland runefang. It was in the German WD96 on four pages, with the last one being 186, that would be the current US one 377 that makes it number 287 methinks.

They never corrected this typo introduced in 7th edition.

Curse you Mat Ward! *shakes fist*
