After searching for and discussing alternative Death Cultist (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38705), Tau (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39156) and Demiurg (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39295) miniatures, I would like to do the same with other races and armies, starting with the Eldar. There are no other minis with funny Conehead helmets I know of, but here are some vehicles that might be used. The first 5:

ARII Macross 1/72 scale Tactical Pod Regult (size?)
Infinity Haqqislam Remotes (fluff technical drone)
Infinity PanOceania DronBot Remotes (fluff technical drone)
Grendel Security Grav Car (non-military speeder)
Excalibur Fearless Plasmode Hover Tank (for Scorpion based armies?)

Next 5:
VOID Syntha Hunter Killer 2000 Grav Bike
VOID Syntha Sentinel 2000 Gravbike
VOID Syntha "Nemesis" Cyclops Battle Tank
VOID Syntha "Hades" Cylops Battle Tank
Urban War Syntha HK2800 Grav Bike

Next 5 (including 2 Harlequins ;) ):
Excalibur Fearless I-CORE 7
Excalibur Fearless I-CORE 5
Excalibur Fearless Peggy Sue (heavy weapons platform)
Excalibur Fearless Hurley Kwinn
WizKids Hypertime Harley Quinn

These minis are, what I found. If you have found something usable for Eldar armies, please post it here.

Do you play eldar or even look at eldar models?? All of those models would fit in fine with something like tau, or dark age tech humans but completely don't go with the present eldar line, or design philosophy .

I have to agree there none of those really look like Eldar stuff. I assume Harley Quinn is included as a gag, Harley Quinn - Eldar - Harlequins ?

Slightly longer less ranty post, that will actually contain constructive criticism...

This isn't to say there aren't alternative models that one could use, i just think you haven't got a feel for what fits with eldar . The range's youve gone for have far toomuch of a high-tech human feel too them . You've missed some companies who would have been highly appropriate such as Rackham[Cynwal Elves and Alchemists], or just been completely off the mark when you hit a company that could work Like UrbanMammoth/I-KORE when you miss the oni class battlesuits from urban war, or infinity and the yu-jing .

Here are some links to ranges and models that i feel fit slightly better-

Eldar are tough to proxy as they're one of the few fairly original[visually] range's that you can't really blend in with ordinary sci-fi generic's . You've got to look for clean line and organic curves, its fairly easy to find this in sci-fi models but if often is done as a hard sci-fi look with lots of cables sensor arrays and stubby bits added extra .

They wouldn't look right at all if they were simply placed next to Eldar models. And why would they? it's not like the modellers had that thought in mind. The bikes with a little conversion work may be quite serviceable however.

Are you guys getting paid to advertise? I swear you guys must be getting paid for this.

On a side note, I agree with shutup, the bikes could make nice conversions, but everything else screams Tau or Impies, dark age Impies. I see nothing for Eldar that I'd want to field.

Actually, the Macross Battlepod was brought to my attention, because the new Eldar Warwalker reminded several people of it, when the first pictures appeared:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35560&page=3

the warwalkers remind me of Zentradi Battlepods. they look very nice, a nice jump forward from the previous model.

And from this thread:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37254&page=20

This might be going against concensus, but I really hate the new war walker. I just find it too Tau for my tastes, it looks like something from robotech. Eldar are suppposed to have an organic look to them but these war walkers are way too mechanical.

Where the Tau are the Humans, the Eldar are the Zentradi .
I think they bridge the gap between natural and mechanical quite nicely. Despite the fact that Wraithbone is "grown", it is still shaped to a design. (an intelligent design maybe ).

So tastes are divers and even Eldar get a new designed vehicle every two or three editions (while Tau get several each edition ;)). As some people complained about the warwalker being open topped, I included this one in the list. And the Infinity Haqqislam Remote is quite similar.

@smoking frog: Of course I am not paid to show non-GW products, as well as everyone else is not paid to ONLY mention GW-products. This is an independent forum that allows for a broader approach to imaginative army building. If you like the idea of an alternative to 2nd ed jet bikes and someone else likes the idea of alternative closed top warwalkers, that is fine with me. These are suggestions, not compulsory army choices.

The bike on the far right of the second post is wonderful, in my opinion. No wires, very sleek, and looks to be an easy conversion to a Shining Spear.

Worldshatterer's second link is also beautiful, and I think I've found my Autarch. That thing's 40k scale?

@Bregalad: I didn't mean offence or anything (though oddly in this day and age you ask someone a question and they come down on you like a ton of magpie poo), it's just I think a better idea would've been to put all of the threads into one, saying something like "All interested in conversion ideas look here". Otherwise, for someone as cynical and paranoid as myself, I do get the wrong impression.

Though I do appreciate the work you went to, don't get me wrong on that :) , not many folk do things like this for others for free. No hard feelings yeah? :)

Hehe that bike screams to me "Tau". Probably closest thing to eldar would be Timber Wolf mech from BT but i don't think you can't find them in Wraithlord sized scale :D

The pilot certainly looks like a Fire Warrior, but Tau vehicles always struck me as a bit boxier (the engine blocks, the turret on the Hammerhead and Skyray, and the rectangular 'nose' section), while the curves, the underslung gun (which would have to be replaced with Shuripults), and the flare in the rear remind me of the Vyper and the Falcon.

Keep in mind that Rackham minis are slightly taller (around 35mm) than GW (heroic28=30mm), so depending on your other minis, this one might stand out a bit. But, as I said in another thread: Kylie Minogue and Grace Jones are also the same scale;) .

@Smoking Frog: No hard feelings. Just wanted to make my position clear in the same words.
As a long time Wood Elf player (actually more collector and role player), I was forced to look around for other manufacturers. The long production cycle for armies (about 7 years, if not SM or Chaos  ) and up to now the lack of good terrain also support that look outside the GW range. As I have no intention to go to tournaments, I love the freedom to let my fantasy go wild.

@all: Tau and Eldar armies and design may have similarities, there are threads about it, e.g.:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31266
There are also connections between the two races hinted at in the book Xenology. Some people see the new Warwalker as too Tau. And I would have started an Eldar army, if I would not hate the design of all the Aspect Warriors and not having the Tau alternative with their fabulous Forge World models. So it is up to your personal taste, which model is more Tau or more Eldar to you.

Just because one race is potentially responsible for the rise of the second race doesn't necessarily mean that they both share the same type of design philosophy. The Tau have a very organic functional appearance to their models, while the Eldar have a very organic/skeletal appearance.

Look more Tau and IG themed really, not quite Eldarish enough for me.

I'm ok with it as long as it's one single, standalone model. Thanks for letting me know, though.

Difficult to tell the scale, played Void beofre but just using the rules with 40k models.

The first picture of the third post would make an awsome Wraithlord though asuming it's big enough. I dislike pretty much the whole Eldar range with the current Wraithlord being the ugliest model (in my opinion anyway). The GW is horribly skinny and looks like a dolphin head bridging two lamp posts (doesn't look much like toughness 8 to me) where the Void model looks pretty fierce and believable.

To be fair, I've always felt Syntha stuff fitted better with Tau, however, some of the Junker stuff from urban war (like the lizards) would fit well for exodites with a little conversion work.

You know what would make a good Autarch though? The old knight of the balance by I-kore, the one with 2 katana's. He looks a bit trenchcoaty in the pic, but he's got an eldar style bodysuit and a mask which could be worked with.
