The Wild Riders wear odd-looking helmets, and the Warhawkriders (judging from bad pictures) does wear anything on their heads.
So... no.

Is it me, or does the new treeman appear to have been cross-bred with a Tyranid Ravener?

The only pic we have of the warhawk riders is this:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/jedi152/warhawks.gif
Which seems to confirm they are the 'surfing' warhawk riders.

Not too keen on them yet, but the rest of the range has been excellent, so i'll wait til i see them properly before judgement i think.

The picture is a bit blurry but it looks a bit strange that they are "surfing" the hawks..

Yepp... And I don't like them, I'll try to convert some from old hawks and probably Eternal Guard and Glade Riders, it should work.

hmmm...

the warhawks themselves look quite similar to the "old" warhawks (for one thing, the colours I gave my warhawks, are the same as those on this *new* pic)

I'm quite aware this is a fantasy game,
but that is so aerodynamically absurd that no matter how well the piece is sculpted the model will be goofy and ridiculous.

agree with amagi, I will convert mine, using a great eagle and probabli glade guardians and riders bits, itf you think a elf crouching with a spear in one hand and a rope that he use to stay in place ove rthe hawk would look nice.

Take a look at the Rumour Roundup, thanks to Lady's Champion there's a link to the GW WE page with a couple of new pictures including the Twinsisters & Dragon and Warhawkriders (with what looks like a Great Eagle in the background). :)

God...those warhawk figures are so good I'm almost tempted to retract my statement.
But no, it's still silly.
Great for converting though!
night is right by the way--a ROPE to hold on with would make a big difference for the realism level, even though the standing up still makes no sense.

Hopefully there's enough room on the new birds to put a sitting elf on. A kneeling one would perhaps make even more sense, but how would you get the legs???

That's exactly what I had in mind!! It's infinitely better than the surfers.

But how to get legs like that for conversion????????
Someone help!!

OMFG...
that`s the way the warhawkriders are supposed to be! :D

I like the female wardancer scetch, but GW has released similar female wardancer models

yea I know the wardancer I draw is similar to the current ones ^^
for the conversion, well ther eis one of the warhawk riders with the foots in similar position, the other way is to work with the plastic legs f the glade guard and start converting a lot of work but posible ^^

Most of the WE line is actually quite nice but those Warhawk Surfers i absolutely despise for their ridiculous position.

The designer must have seen one too many Legolas scene and i hate it when they don't take their models serious and make them too cartoony (a problem i have with some Wardancers as well)

Makes you wonder why the moved away from the concept of a kneeling rider (http://www.games-workshop.de/warhammerworld/warhammer/woodelves/artikel/konzept-gal/bilder/5.jpg). :)

I find the Elves themselves to be awesome, the mounts somewhat ridiculous, and the spirits pretty good. I haven't seen the Treeman or the Wild Riders yet, though.

thats a pity indeed,... cause that is a veery good pic... if they`d made `em that way they might be used some more (and from what I`ve heard of it, their rules will be far from bad)
