Hi Guys,

This thread is dedicated to the single role of keeping you all informed about thats going on, here on WarSeer.

Ok, the general changes we have seen so far are as follows:

The site has finally been renamed to WarSeer after a Poll for the name.
We are looking for users to submit their best attempts at producing a logo, the best one becomes the new logo for the entire site. (Take a look here (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3666&goto=lastpost) if you want a look at the ones so far )
TWB has been reinstated as a moderator now she has become active once again. This is different to the situation with Engel. More details here (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3300)
the portent domain is now being retired to simply hold the farewell page as requested by pete.

A number of users have mentioned that they wish to have a discussion on the site so I'll be creating a thread simply for this discussion.
To discuss what we are doing wrong with commuication go here http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=66325#post66325

Thats all for now, I give the admins permission to edit this if they wish to add further points.

Hi,

just to let you know, I'm taking a look at the "The WarSeer Guild" subforums now to make the section (incl. P&R and the Wastes) Guilder-only.

During this process, P&R will be opened for Guilders too. You'll notice that after the opening there'll be a sticky thread at the top of the P&R subforum to inform the Guilders using the P&R subforum about the current state. Please take a look at the sticky before posting.

To make it even easier for you, I'll quote the content of the sticky here. This way the non-Guilders, thinking about joining to get access to the P&R subforum, will get a chance to take a look at the state of P&R and our plan for it too:

Welcome to the Warseer Political and Religious Discussions forum!
I know this section of the forum is extremely popular with a number of posters, but, as with all things we treasure, we have to take care of it, so please read the following notice:

The Future of P&R on Warseer

Although the P&R forum has now been opened, its place here is by no means permanent.
P&R is currently in a 3 month review period to judge whether it is worth keeping on, which will be dependant entirely upon the behaviour of those who use it.
If it becomes clear that P&R is growing unmanageable before that 3 month period has completed, it may be shut down and dropped prematurely.
If the 3 months elapse and the behaviour of the users is favourable, it is not free license to regress into quarrelsome jackasses after the 3 month trial is completed. If such is seen to happen, P&R will be shut down or the offenders responsible will be barred from entry, depending on the situation as and when it arises.

However, we would all like to give P&R a fair go, and provided people in here respect one another and accept that it's okay for opinions to differ, there is every chance that P&R will become a permanent and celebrated fixture of the Warseer community.

Keep in mind that the same rules that apply to the rest of the forum, apply to P&R also. In fact, given the nature of discussion, the rules may be more vigorously upheld in P&R than anywhere else in the forum.

Please take note to:

Explain yourself and your points clearly to avoid confusion, misinterpretation, and the inevitable frustration of repeating yourself
Never make a post whilst angered. If something offends you or you are vehemently opposed to a point, got get a drink and relax before responding. A reasonable tone is easier to listen to
Discuss the points, not the posters... and that includes comments about 'limp-wristed liberals' and 'redneck republicans'
To be safe, assume you're every inch as wrong as everyone else ;)
Perhaps appolagise if you offend someone. It may not have been deliberate, but it's always nice to hear
Lead by example. Don't be dragged into an argument, nor a flame war.
Let those that are impartial sort things out. If someone crosses the line, report it to the Moderators rather than taking it upon yourself to reprimand the offending poster. And please give the reason you have reported the post when you submit your report
Don't use the report function to report a post you disagree with cause of the point being made.
Keep in mind that free speach does not equate to the right to discriminate.
Bribe the moderators...

If, because of poor behaviour, your Guildership privileges are removed, you are banned, or the P&R forums are closed before the end of this 3-month , your Guild Fees will not be refunded.

Sorry for the overwhelmingly negative tone of this post, but it had to be said.

So please, work with us, work together, and make P&R work for you :)

If you have any questions at all, please contact the moderators or admins, and we'll be happy to help

And a final note.
The P&R Forums is the only place on Warseer where we wish to see overtly Political and/or Religious comments raised.
Politics and religion are the two most divisive topics known to man, and peoples views in regards to these subjects are often passionate or held in great conviction. In this forum, it is assumed we know that such topics must be discussed in a civil tone, and everyone here is aware that they're likely to see comments and views expressed that they may not particularly like very much, and as such it is more easily managed. In the general forums, political and/or religious comments can quickly sidetrack seemingly unrelated topics, and cause other problems.
Please respect the wishes of the Moderators and Administrators on that point and keep P&R comments in the P&R forum

Thank you :)

Thanks for your time.

~ The WarSeer Team

If I did this right, the Wastes and P&R should be visible for Guilders only now. Both forums are open. In case something isn't working (or if you can still access a forum you shouldn't have access to :p), please drop us a note.

Two things to update:

Firstly, we have updated our Role Playing forum. Please feel free to use it to discuss commercial RPGs, and to discuss aspects of them, whilst at the same time, continuing to run the Role play threads.

Secondly, we have prepared the forums for the Up-and-coming WarSeer Oracle Forums (http://www.warseer.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=44). These forums will be orientated towards submitting articles for publication on WarSeer, or inclusion into the Oracle Webzine.

The sub forums are designed so that you can receive help in submitting articles, and for the discussion and feedback of published articles and issues of the Oracle.

EDIT: Please don't post entire/parts of articles in this forum, as that would spoil it for everyone else. Please use the submission system.

They shall be opening shortly.

Announcement of the 1st WarSeer Forum Awards:

Hi,

I've the pleasure to announce the opening of the WarSeer Forum Awards (http://www.warseer.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38) forum (a subforum of Random Musings) and the start of the 1st WarSeer Forum Awards ceremony!

The 1st Awards will be run by Sgt John Keel (http://www.warseer.com/forums/member.php?u=21) and there'll be a 7 day period of "Category Suggestions" first.

Once that's finished, the category threads will be posted and the nomination period sets in. Right after that we'll see the posting of polls and the voting will start!

Who'll win the 1st WarSeer popularity contest? Aren't you eager to find out? :D

Make sure to take a look at the Forum Awards (http://www.warseer.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38)!

Hi All,

We have turned on the similar thread option so you should all see a table at the bottom of every thread with various similar threads related to the one your currently on.

This is displayed to everyone and should hopefully reduce the number of searches needed. :)

Seems Nick forgot to add this to the news thread. :)

New Subscription Options
Hi Guys,

We have all been working hard over the last few weeks to bring you more and more on the WarSeer site, our latest addition is a new option for subscriptions. If you want to buy a subscription for someone else simply visit http://www.warseer.com/category/subscriptions and use the Give Subscription to User option to transfer your payment to another user. I'm afraid this is only possible with our £10 6 month subscription type but as we automate this more it should be possible on all of our plans.

Hi again,

This is a quite announcement to inform you that our gallery has now been set up. We are using a different system to Portent so it will look a little different. I have imported some of the old images, but as we don't have the matching database, I cannot assign the images to the correct users. If any of the images are yours please contact me with your username and some details about the image so I can update the database.

Forum Software Update:

The WarSeer forums now upgraded
The site is back online after the upgrade which went smoothly. The petz will be going for a while as there are some problems to be resolved but you shouldn't recieve any e-mails about your pet dieing while they are gone.

Nick

The usual "What the hell's going on?" (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13415) thread (happens everytime the forum is down or being upgraded ;)) can be found in the Future of WarSeer forum.

Please ask your possible questions there...AFTER reading the thread of course. :p

The WarSeer Gallery

Hiho fellow Warseers,

just a reminder for the users who plan to use the WarSeer Gallery to upload pictures or uploaded pictures already.

Please make sure to create your own user album *before* uploading any more pictures.

Without this user album we can't approve your pictures in case they don't really fit into the main sections (e.g. all WIP pictures, low quality photos, pictures of your family, friends or pets...).

So please click the "Admin mode" button/link to create your own user album(s).

Thanks,

~The WarSeer Team.

Gallery isn't set up again yet...we'll inform you when the gallery system is back in place again.
