View Full Version : How did Sigmar survive the End Times?

Just thinking about it, and something puzzles me.
The Chaos Gods derive their power from people's emotions, and since there are other worlds, they survive the world ending.
But Sigmar was just a man, who was made a God by worship from the Empire (right?) but if the Empire, and the whole world he derives his power from don't exist, how exactly does Sigmar?

Short version, he and Archaon fell into the Warp Rift that would cause the world to be torn apart. It also sucked up the Winds of Magic and the other surviving Incarnates that became Gods in AoS.
What happened immediately after that is unknown but somehow Sigmar ended up on the metal core of the old world as hurtled through space and into the beginnings of the Age of Myth.
Bad and ambiguous writing is how he survived... That and this:

*not meant to be disrespectful, just funny... Especially for old-school Simpsons fans.

He was saved by the neverending story dragon.
In all honesty I do not recall it saying that Sigmar required the worship to continue his existence as a god. The CHAOS gods apparently do require this and as you pointed out they could continue quite happily with worship from elsewhere outside of the "old world". Maybe sigmar was simply sustained solely by the sigmarite (s)centre of the sadly sundered old world?
I do agree with Ludaman though, the main reason for his survival is bad writing.... oh and sigmarite.

Well...
...at first he's reduced to 'the glowing essence' of someone who used to be a man. A demi-God fallen on hard times, if you like. He's found new worshippers since, as well as regaining the power of Azyr. We know some of the deities from the Old World were replenished in the Age of Myth, as it says in the book.

He didn't survive. It's all spin and lies.
He survived because that's how it was written, same as how other characters survived, often despite NOT being sucked into the rift (Teclis being destroyed prior to it expanding to consume Tyrion, Malekith and the Everqueen for example). Same reason those other characters are now godlike beings/linked to their winds of magic, despite the magic being completely seperated from them.
It doesn't have any big answers, there aren't any great secret stories. Characters that GW like will make appearances in AoS in some form, ones they don't will not.

Because of plot. GW wanted Sigmar in their next product so gave him a free pass to survive the End Times. I suspect they'll pretty much do it for any other characters they want to put into AoS from Warhammer.
