View Full Version : Geoh Quest V2
My First Warhammer Quest painting log has lost its photo's. So I have decided to make a new one.
The idea of this blog is to show my progress, as I try and collect models to represent the monsters that will feature in my Dungeons (I normally act as Games Master). The games we play are based on the original. Altho I have a copy of the new Silver Tower we have not played it yet. I also have Dungeon Saga and Zombicide Back Plague so you might see some of the models from these games too. I will not and have not just collected from Games Workshop. I will and have used many different makes of miniatures.
Lets start with some group pics.

Great collection, Warhammer Quest really is like collecting small armies :D Some great choices in there :)
Lets try and start again.
I've lost most of my photos. So will start with group shots and then see where we end up.As you will see I do not just stick with Games Workshop models. I use what models I like /afford. My painting is what I would call table top standard. With hit and miss results. Haha

Great collection, very colorful. Sorry to hear about your difficulties with image hosting. I've had good luck with google images, but then I've given up on privacy in this day and age. Can't wait to see more!

I love looking at your models. Inspiring sculpts, beautifully painted. Can you list the manufacturer for the non-GW heroes? Those are great minis, and I think your paintjobs elevated them to new heights!

Thanks.
The Non-GW Heroes First we have a converted Hell Dorado Miniature. Forgotten his name. The second (Shaman) is Cynemon from Mierce Miniatures. The Barbarian is Mullet the barbarian from Heresy Miniatures.yC y Foot.nemon, Wiglere of Mierce on Foot

Sorry for the delay.
Basically it is all dry brushing with a little wash. Started with a black primer. Painted the flames with Vallejo Game Color Off White. Then dry brushed with a light yellow followed by a deeper yellow (I can't recall the paint names sorry). I didn't go all the way to the top of the flames only to about half way. Next up was dry brushing Vallejo Game Color Orange Flame. The top half was painted fully with this orange too. The very top layer of flames was given a light dry brush of Citadel Khorne red I think. The flames was then dry brushed with Citadel Ryza Rust. A wash of Citadel Glaze Bloodletter. This tied the colours in but I had lost the brightness of the flames closest to the skin. So I went back in with the Off White painting the inside of the closest flames. This was to Bright and no longer looked like fire. Out of frustration I gave the off white a wash of Citadel Casandora Yellow. Thankfully when I completed the model it looked ok. Lastly the tips of the flames was given a dry brush of Citadel Eshin Grey followed by Citadel Longbread Grey.
As you can see I pretty much make up my painting as I go.
So I have been painting again. I got a basic airbrush for Christmas and finally got the courage to have ago. This was the result.

Finally for this update we have some alternative minis that I'm using for Talisman.

Dude you seriously got the most awesome models painted love all off them the maggots look sick and repulsive great job ;) the blue on the hydra is just fantastic. And the other models you posted are all really nice and beautifully painted like the wizards and the Knights and of course that barbarian I really love that model been looking at for a long time to buy but I wonder how big is it? Are the compatible with the newer silver tower miniatures of more with the older ones? I'm still working on both its just that the original is lying still a bit until I get my 3d dungeon rdy I'm working on silver tower and Hammerhall
Thanks for your nice words guys.
Easygrin took this so you can compare.

Great thanks a lot I think he is pretty good for both as the dark oath chieftain is pretty big compared to the other human models from as. But would definitely use him for the classic whq. ;)
Well it's been a long time. Although I have not been on Warseer for some time I have been painting. (mainly Death Guard)
While I was away the Orcs got a new boss and the Skeletons got an upgrade.

Thanks. I had to change his sword. The original snapped and I had the new Great unclean One's sword hanging around in my bits box.(I won a Nurgle bits auction)

Thanks for your nice comments.
I hate doing bases. With my old fantasy models I tried to give them a dungeon floor look. I used to cut up thin card and to make slab like bases. The new Orc lord I tried Green Stuff World's Temple textured rolling pin. Think I need more practice with this. I'm doing sand on the base for my 40k stuff. Will be trying out Cork for my Daemons.

nice job on the great unclean one. that is literally a monster of a mini (if you can even call it that) does he fit on a tile? ;)

Nurgle Demon still only counts as one! - Gimli.
Brilliant collection, makes mine a bit embaressing - I've got that in goblins now. Ignore so much of the RNG table whoops :D

Thanks :). I have not placed him on a WHQ tile yet. I'm working on a base for him to be used in 40K. The last game we played I used the giant Arachnarok spider. Placed it at the end of a chamber and said it was hanging from the ceiling.:D

Hahaha Thankfully I make the players share the gold from their kills.
The collection has taken many years. Almost 30 hahaha.
I love your Goblins. :)

Not quite sure how I have missed this log. Where has it been hiding? As a WHQ fan its right up my alley. Some lovely stuff here and I really like the GUO conversion and paint job. Very nice (if nice is a suitable description for Nurgle)
You have done some excellent work here.
