In the sub forum for the old world of warhammer it says not to post for the 9th age here and see seperate forum, but there is no sub forum for the 9th age (general, tactics and background). Also in this sub forum for the old world there is only a sub forum for general, no tactics or background.

In the age of sigmar sub forum there is only tactiics and background, no general sub forum. Also in the tactics sub forum most of the topics are for old world tactics. All 4 stickies are old world tactics (nothing to do with age of sigmar), the first 19 pages are mixed (some old world and some age of sigmar), the majority are all old world (the last 2459 pages!)

Most other sub areas only have background and tactics areas and no general for discussing that game generally. In fact general onkly seems to exist for the old world that has no background or tactics (even though the old world has more tactic threads than other areas, just placed under age of sigmar!)

Hi Zoltan thanks for pointing this all out.

The 9A forum is going live in the next couple of days it was just a bug that it has not yet and not had time to work on it over Christmas.

We are reviewing and sorting out all stickies on the site over the coming weeks ... many of them need changing etc, the reason that some appear currently in strange places is because we have merged and amalgamated several sub forums from the old site so the stickies too have been moved and merged and many seem odd where they are. This is a work in progress.

The reason behind only having background and tactics for games is because we wanted to direct general discussion to the main forum ie either wargaming general discussion or roleplaying general discussion. This is so that for tactics and background stuff people know where to look, but for general discussion a thread will get more views, replies and activity in general wargaming or roleplaying rather than being buried in a sub forum which has less traffic and less likelihood of being a lively thread. I hope this makes sense.

We are going to be altering the Old World forum to bring this in line with the other areas on the site in the next week.

I hope this answers all of your questions and thank you very much for bringing it all up.

If any of your personal threads once the forums are created need moving then just give us a heads up in this forum and we will get them moved. Happy Christmas and New Year.

Thanks for replying, I see your logic on the general forums, its a good idea just something I (and im sure lots of others!) arent use to, but could be a lot better. Glad to hear that 9th age and old world fixing are in the works! Just though it was missing on the first case and inconsistant on the second, but you know what thought did :) Happy (remaining) holidays!

Is that move something that you're open to discussion on?

I can certainly see the point about getting more exposure for threads from smaller gaming systems, but having all wargaming general discussion in one forum also causes problems of its own. Threads on smaller gaming systems are as likely to be drowned out by those from more popular ones as they are to get more exposure. They'll disappear off the first page quicker, and it becomes harder to search for old threads that might cover a topic you're interested in, as they're mixed with so many others. There's also a high chance of confusion / threadjacking if it's not sufficiently clear what system a thread is talking about.

This also runs the risk of bringing back the problems the Warhammer Fantasy area had before Warseer went down, with WFB and AoS players clashing constantly with each other. Keeping them separate when discussing gaming matters helps to keep the peace, and means that those that want to grumble a bit about different gaming systems (which is inevitable) will do so in a forum that won't be read by those likely to be bothered by it.

Speaking as a WFB player who wants to keep that section thriving, and who used to browse loads but post little due to the toxic atmosphere, I think it’ll make things much harder if we’re split between three places – a tactics forum, a background one, and then everything else (which is a significant chunk of what we might be discussing) in amongst the threads of every other wargaming threads.

At present, the single WFB general discussion forum looks to be serving us well; like-minded players can find relevant threads there, and we don’t have the activity to justify splitting it up into different sub-forums.

I can't profess familiarity with how things are going in other sections of the forum, so I'm really only speaking for the Old World section here.

5 months on and despite saying next week the old world warhammer forums still only have general sub forum, and age of sigmar only has background and tactics sub forums, the tactics sub forum still being mostly made up of old world topics not age of sigmar, including all 4 stickies!
