When not logged in I see all threads in "Threaded View" now. Which is not a good view for project logs or reading up on a discussion.

Hi Joe

This is the forum default. You need to go into your settings and choose hybrid view rather than threaded. Hope this helps :)

I never had a different view, logged in or not. Logged in is fine. Not logged in, where would those settings be?

EDIT: I am just being lazy, I am not used to log in to read. Might be better, so I comment more ...

Threaded rather than hybrid view is now the default but can be changed because of comments and requests. :)

Yes.... log in and post more ;)

I also find the threaded view very annoying.

Of course I can easily get around this by logging in so I get the good old "20 posts per page" view. However, new visitors to the site (who have not yet registered and are just lurking around) might get put off by the threaded view.

I tried this threaded view a bit. When you look at a project log, you always start on the first post unless using the latest posts hot bar. Most of us do not use the first post to give an overview of the content. Images are often the only thing people look at, having a sticky on how to start and maintain a project log effectively would be nice.

When opening a bookmark to say page 4 of a plog, you will get redirected to that page upon login. Without login you see the first post. So again whatever is in the first post matters a lot when you try redirecting to Warseer from an other location. It makes it a bit hard to link to posts in other threads for the purpose of a discussion.

This is just my experience, the forum of T9A is very badly accessible. To read any post on current developments you need to have an account or see something interesting in the top 10 threads. I guess it is used to lure me to log in, it worked, I signed up. And then I saw the total chaos there and kind of have not logged in since. I am assuming this threaded view is to make more people to sign up, without setting up proper initial "free" views that actually lure people in, that will not work
The way plogs were handled has changed over the time on Warseer, with the new view a lot of old plogs loose their appeal and lure potential.

You should be able to click on the post number (top right hand corner), then copy the address from the address bar, and use that to link directly to a post in a thread (if I understand your comment right).

For what it's worth, I don't understand why threaded is the forum default. None of the other forums I visit use a similar feature, probably for good reason.

Reddit KIND of does, but Reddit isn't designed to have discussions in a chronological manner. Most real forums are. It's like vB is terrified many of its customers are closing down because Reddit and Facebook and providing better "hubs" that don't require a separate password for people to remember to cover multiple topics.
