View Full Version : FIREBASE - specialist gamers wanted

08-08-2006, 14:46
Hey all you epic fans.

The first issue of Firebase will have no epic content whatsoever. Now, this makes me sad. :(

I would very much like you epic players to get involved and write some stuff for the mag. I don't play epic personally, but I'm responsible for organising BFG and Epic for the mag.

Nowthen, nowthen. Firebase is looking for three articles minimum to support epic. Some of you have said you would like to see epic and have ideas for articles. No we're looking for articles to go into our Christmas issue.

Ideal articles include:

Army tactica
Battle reports (Looking at you, Stugmeister)
Army building articles
Showcasing models
General rules/tactica discussion

Now, I know for a fact there are some of you out there with ideal material for our mag. So don't be modest, step on up. We want you!

I'll write some articles if you like, I've done sections for a Uni paper and local gaming group although nothing on this sort of scale.
I play orks, guard and lost and damned at the moment. The only problem is I won't have a good camera to use for a while, so I can't show models and similar.

09-08-2006, 11:32
That's fine, what would you like to write about?

I wouldn;t mind doing some Tacticas or scenarios/campaigns, I can do Battle report's if you don't mind the lack of pictures.
Also there's a league starting after Medusa concludes, depending on the amount of players that might finish early enough for me to write by christmas or split it between two issues.

Battle report require pictures I'm afraid. We would like pictures ideally for all articles, but you could do a tactica and use someone elses army pictures (with permission, obviously). Or even make neat little graphics to demonstrate your points (a little better than just whipping up something in paint though :P)

I can try and get some help from a mate who does Digital Art to generate some quality images, otherwise i've got some older graphics programs (still better quality than paint by some way) and a CAD program somewhere.

EDIT: Forgot to ask, is there anything you want me to send soon, and roughly when will you need articles sent by?

I can do Epic photo manipulation and the like. I'll be happy to throw my hat into the 6mm scale ring.

Excellent. We so far have two armies scheduled for showcasing, a battle rep and and tactica/gaming article would also be nice:)

Articles latest submission date should be November, but sooner = better.

Hello again, I must be annoying you immensely with these threads. But since I lack telepathic powers, I gotta use my meaty fingers and type messages to clog up the front page. :)

Anyway, issue 1 is finished pretty much. Firebase is rolling on like a juggernaut and gaining speed and also weight. We also need help, from the gamers who we're aiming this issue at.

Now, we are hoping to get some inquisitor AND Necromunda articles. If any of you guys wanna do a battle report, show off your minis or talk tactics and campaigns - let us know. We're happy to look at all submissions. You don't need any special degrees in writing. As special content editor, that's unfortunately my job. So what you guys waiting for? pm me and we'll discuss terms. :)

On a side note - thank you Avian for merging this thread.

Latest sbubmission date is the 1st of November.

OK i'll throw my hat in for a Guard Tactica, and maybe a battle report with them. I'll also try and get examples of what I can do for images to you by the end of the week, see if their suitable.

Fantastic news. Spread the word on other communities as well.

I might be in for Necromunda battle reports as i do them regularly for my own gaming group. Unfortuantely we're taking a bit of a sabbatical in order to paint up new gangs so wouldn't be starting up a new campaign till mid to late september. Please PM me if i can help.

Hi I may be able to help with the BFG side of things, I have been thinking of designing adding a BFG fleet(s) to my model collection and adding them into my ongoing sector wide campaign. I would happily do some articles of my journey into the space battle scene:)

Hmm, I'm happy to have you writing for us, but we've already got the 5 admirals and a hivefleet article going over two issues, so we don't really want to over do fleet building (I mean, there's already six fleets being built!).

However, if you can think of any other articles to write for us, that would be smashing.

Hummm other articles... I shall have a long think of what I can do to contribute, I just thought of that idea cause I was building a fleet(s) anyway and I haven't played many proper games as my nearest gaming clubs is 20 odd miles away and I can never get ther:cries:

But yeah I shall have a think of what else can be done, or I am open to ideas

I'm not a big Epic player, but a reasonably big contributer to development(being a joint head of the Dark Eldar development team).

Okay, I tried to put that in quietly, but I'll just go for it. The Dark Eldar are now a proper part of the Epic Gaming structure, right up there with Tau, Necrons, Nids and everyone else!

I can try my hand at a few articles, but for decent contributions you should seek out on the SG forums, or the linked forum in the Epic section: EpiComms.

I can also provide *lots* of stuff on Specialist Games Demiurg...though given that wasn't what was requested...

17-08-2006, 15:35
If you'd like the demuirg rules to be printed in firebase, then we'd be more than happy to accomodate them. Rules are welcomed.

However, I'm still very angry you didn't include a picture of an Impaler attack craft in your dark eldar rules because I have no clue what they look like :p

17-08-2006, 16:17
You should look on the counters, there's a *very* basic (ie Lvl7 MSPaintWarrior) idea of what some of us think it'd be like. I prefer my ones with a bit more of a 'scaled up' Raven/Razorwing Feel, crossed with Amidala's ship from Episode One(alot less silvery), but something like that, and big. A wee bit smaller than a Manta...alot smaller than an Impaler...

I'm gonna try a few more attempts with FOM first with the Demiurg(Splitting the compendium into three articles: Epic, Inquisitor, Battlefleet Gothic, means I have three chances at success, not just 1!), but if that's not too successful you may indeed see them for Issue 2!

17-08-2006, 16:21
I did look at the craft...I couldn't see it :(

23-08-2006, 11:37
It may be a good idea for those of us who build epic armies to talk about all the locations we get minis for various armies, since not all armies have a current GW range or even a past GW range.

23-08-2006, 12:25
That'd be good too.

26-08-2006, 17:59
I wonder what level of stuff you want. And what kind of battle reports would be accepted. i could make battle report for epic (either use one of the olders or play a new game in few weeks).

For reference heres some of my latest reports

01-09-2006, 13:26
They're great, all we ask is that all minis are painted.

Ok, so you've all read FIREBASE 1 now, anyone else interested in submitting articles?

Also, what do you think to the specialist content?

01-09-2006, 19:45
Specialist Games content (of any sort) is always welcome, and I liked the Five Admirals and a Hive Fleet article, as well as the Necromunda ones.

If you're interested, as soon as I get a digicam (10th October hopefully) I could provide article(s) along the lines of:

1) Inquisitor: My Warband, what I took, why, etc.
2) Inquisitor: What's Reasonable For An Inquisitor? - this because some people like games where their Inquisitor is equipped with one bullet and a faulty stub gun, others (like me) where the Inquisitor is, well, an Inquisitor...
3) Epic: Building a Titan Legion - self explanatory! :p
4) BFG: mini-campaign, Impies v Chaos
5) BFG: Batrep or fleet painting (Chaos or Imperial)

02-09-2006, 01:52
The inquisitor articles sound cool, I'll PM you when I'm sober.

I personally apologise for the typos and gubbins in the final cut. There were some issues I need to resolve with Darkseer sometime, they'll be fixed by issue2.

I'd be interested in throwing an army feature into the ring... I have a rather nicely painted Red Scorpions Marine army, with backup from 5 Titans (Two of which are magnetized so as to allow modular weapons).

25-09-2006, 10:09
Ok people, we still need some necromunda articles, and we're always willing to listen to article suggestions for issue 3 and 4. Is anyone out there with a necromunda gang they're particularly proud of?

Dat Wildboy
25-09-2006, 10:41
bob syko has an orlock gang he is very proud of. he PM'd me pictures, but i deleted the PM to make way for more last week; my inbox was getting cluttered.

get in touch with him, they really are quite nice. he loves necromunda and would be pleased to help i'm sure.

25-09-2006, 10:55
I really have enough on my plate to be chasing people, I've got 3 games systems at least write and edit articles for - or rewrite, should I say since my main computers been down for a month, so my time's pretty short. Get him to PM me and I'll discuss it further.

Dat Wildboy
25-09-2006, 11:15
ok, i'll do it now.

28-09-2006, 20:45
Alright, is there anybody else who wants to do an article for us? Time is getting short people so PM me quickly if you're still interested.

28-09-2006, 20:50
Artificer, when are issue 2's articles due in? For those of us writing follow ons?

28-09-2006, 20:54
Whenever you get them done, preferably the text by November and pictures mid november.
