you sure you wanna do a all close combat warband? I fight with beastmen and one thing i know from them is that is lack of shooting can be a real pain sometimes. You also have to keep your mind the fact your going into the fray with a starting wb of six. Those numbers can comeback to hurt ya in rout tests.

True but they have no shooting in the warband longer then 10 inches. They seem fun, I get I could proxy and try them out a little. My WH warband has turned fairly shooting and it can get boring sometimes in the bigger battle where there are no targets cause all non-friendlies move away from me. I am not the type to backstab so.. ya. The pit king has Ld 9 so it won't be too bad for rout checks. Thanks for the reply.

Fair Warning:

Pit Fighters are THE weakest list ever put out by GW. Expect to get your butt handed to you for a while.

They're a decent list, and an AWESOME theme, but due to the sheer cost of the packages, you're in trouble.

You will have fewer models than almost any other band. (And the bands with fewer models has fewer AWESOME models, as opposed to humans.)

I was looking into shadow warriors, but the whole oh look at me shoot while hiding and having a spell that lets me hide in the open kind of made me yell cheese :) But I know if I had the ability to do it I probabaly would, so thats why i cannot start them :P

check out the elven thread a few down from here, I laid out some very effective balancers to make shadow warriors not scream of cheese nearly as badly.

Yeah, but I doubt the person running it would change it. he didn't take the 20% off for the misfire rules for black powder, but used them. a guy lost two pirate gunners(forgot name of gun, the expensive one)

Or you could try running the Lothern list I posted, it's infinately more balanced than the book shadow warriors. (Option 2: Nerf your own playstyle. Don't pick the broken skills!)

As stated above, if I have a chance to use something cheesy, I probabaly will. Expecially meaning everyone in the league would. Oh well, it is a specialist game, probabaly be another year for the next league...

I like the Javalin Pit fighters for a small bit of ranged combat.. loosening up a knot of warriors while your big heavies are lugging thier way into the combat is always useful.

My only question was.. are they equipped with enough javalins for a whole game or just the one? Seems silly to have only one tho... We always played enough for a game but not sure...

I think they would have enough for the entire game. It would be kind of stupid if they didn't. That would also be asking if there were enough arrows in a quiver for an entire game I guess.

if your worried about not having any range why not take a tilean marksman or halfling the marksman would keep ur opponent out of an area and could force to meet your fighters in C&C as thats your strong point

The problem I have with Pit fighters is being forced t otake the armour in packages since its so bad and expesive.
I think Undead style is the way forward for your heroes, empire style comes with useless heavy armour and the great weapon which means striking LAST! Try to max out heroes, though I think you already have....4 heroes at start is a bit of a handica, and undead style for the parry/reroll.

Posibly bin your henchmen heroes and get some pursuers instead. Your heroes are tough as nails fighters so the pursuers (which are cheaper) can boost the warband size, allow a small amount of missile fire and support the heroes with counter charges and flanking.
