View Full Version : BFG, using the core lists?

I'm curious, is there any point in using the fleet lists in the main book(pdfs).
Like with the Armageddon list for the Orks and the Imperium. Orks get access to roks, hulks, and battle ships. The Imperium get space marines and tons of new cruisers.

and, please, no "good general" arguments. like... "a good general can win with just a cobra class escort against 1500pts of eldar." or anything silly like that.

I'm just curious because I like the Gothic sector list for the imperium. i just love the Dominator that much. But, I do feel like I'm restricting myself by using the gothic list.

interesting since i take the opposite tact and ask whether there is any real point to using a variant list outside the blue book!

The Armaggedon List does not have access to some ships that the Gothic Sector list does. Gothic list has the Overlord, Armageddon list does not, instead Armageddon. There is no Retribution class battleship dos not appear in teh Armageddon list. Thus there is a purpose of using the core list it has things the other list does not have. There is no unfied list that contains everything.

Yes Chaos players probably can just use the 13th Crusade List, it is largely an expansion of the Gothic list. The same goes for Orks & Eldar, but then they represent different kind of fleets, bigger fleets, fleets of war not piracy.

So Imperials are really the only fleet list that is a variant in there, but it is most likely to have the wide variety.

...the best Imperial ships are in the original book.

The only good ones from Armageddon are the Apocalypse and the Falchion. The chaos have good original ships too, as do the Eldar.

The Terminus Est packs quite a punch :)
