Looking forward to the next update. :)

they're so warm. They look 'real' almost like they're historical rather than 40k based. I think the autumnal colours really add a fantastic dimension to the Dkok - I really like them.

Thanks mate.

The weapons are painted khemri brown, with a devlan wash, and a highlight of bone and a wash of solar mach orange.

The leaves are birch seeds, you can buy them from model train shops.

Thanks :D, that means alot coming from someone as accomplished as you. The camo is based off of the SS autumn oakleaf/peadot from WW2 which may be where you've seen it before ;)

So I said that I'd do a squad next. I lied. Got sick of painting dots and painted this for a treat.

Heres my Quartermaster/Ursaker Creed. I still think it needs some more freehand on the cape, ideas? The X's are for the 10th Kampfgrupp that hes commanding.

*Edit* The free hand has been cleaned up abit to get those pesky little grey spots, and the stray bits of grass have been removed too.

I see you also have problems with the little eagle ornament on the platoon command banner. I just don't understand how FW expects us to transport such a model without that little thing dropping off the whole time.

Everything looks awesome as always Sheep. Could you maybe give us a close up of the 3 IG on the left of the command squad?

We're back in business YAY!

The hiatus gave me a bit more time to paint, as I'm sure it did for alot of us. Warseer is a great inspiration but also a massive time sink.

Anyway, the next big tournament I'm attending is coming up on the 14th, and with that looming deadline I've gotten some work done on the army, finishing the rough riders.

Firstly, the Commissar, which I'm using as the units SGT. Its the FW limited model, with a scratchbuilt lance:

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m289/Sheep_06/Death%20Korps%20of%20Krieg/005-3.jpg

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m289/Sheep_06/Death%20Korps%20of%20Krieg/006-4.jpg

http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m289/Sheep_06/Death%20Korps%20of%20Krieg/008-4.jpg

Next is his unit. One thing I did that i thought would be interesting was to change the colour of their unit/platoon marking to copy that of the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division. Something I think of as quintessentially "cavalry".

Wow... again this is amazing! The skin on the horses is superb! Can you give a quick run through on the centre ones??

They were all done with an airbrush using tamiya paints. I just picked out a bunch of greys and browns. Then I laid down a base coat of the darkest of the colours. Then did some light zenethial highlights with the next shade up. Then airbrushed the small dots on in white, or brown. Then another zenethial highlight with white. Then I glazed the model in a mix of brown and black to add some depth. Then I painted the riders as normal.

Hope that helps.

--------------------------------------------

Managed to knock over these for the army too. They are in a different, but similar colour scheme to rest of the tanks in the force because I wanted to try something different, and I think that the artillery regiment would have a different colour scheme.

So here we have Death korps of Krieg Artillery reserve Alpha battery guns 2 & 3.

I have to pass an English exam tomorrow, so mom told me to post some text on warseer, lol. So what, I have to do it.

These tanks are really great, I love it.
I especially like rust effects and red lenses, it brings some 'vitality' to this models.
Hydras models are even magnificent themselves :D

I would only suggest to apply some smoke on Heavy Bolters barrels, and to apply some dark brown (or even black) under the silver battle damage - it'll emphasize it and give it more realistic look ;)

Fleet looks amazing! Always great to see a BFG flotilla finished.

I can help on the classes if it matters:

Colossus - Normal Mars Pattern Battlecruiser. This is the one with a broken nova cannon [prow gun], should look the same as the Vampire's. It's broken conveniently though so it could be passed off as a short barreled version perhaps.

Vampire - This one isn't built to any official class standard, it's either a Gothic with lance turrets added [which could be ignored] or an Armageddon with a 2nd lance battery instead of a weapon battery [could just say it's a weapon battery]. Neither of those can have a Nova Cannon though. Another option still is that it could be a Lunar, and the dorsal turrets are meant to represent weapon batteries [hence the flat chaos turrets]. Actually it's most likely the later since a list can't have that many battlecruisers and this is a clever way to circumvent the fact that the cruiser sprues have an insufficient number of weapon batteries.

Pelorus - A normal Tyrant class cruiser.

Oberon - An Overlord class Battlecruiser with a broken prow ram [this bit is mostly decorative though, and it looks fine without it].

Thanks for all the positive comments guy, its the first time I've had everything out like that and I was suprised by the number of models I had finished too.

OMG !!
The whole army displayed makes my eyes bleed !!

Wonderful work, my dear !!
What's your next projet ? More DKOK ? A titan ? Or something completely different ?

I wish I had a titan waiting to be painted! Next is a commission SW army, then my Khorne blood angels, then a tosh up between admech, and DE.

The last time that much awesomesauce was sprayed across my screen was... :shifty: well, nevermind the particulars.

But yes Sheep, it's made of pure win, and it's disgustingly great, as we come to expect from your work.

So, what's up on deck next? :D

Ew.

Well, theres that leman russ thing for you, then what I posted above.

Wow that is an impressive army! how long have you been collecting?

Collecting and painting for 16 years, but I painted the first DKOK guardsman in October of 2007, so 4 years to get to this point with this army.

Gentlemen (and ladies) you all humble me with your praise :D

Thanks for all the help, comments and support over the years, its been very much appreciated and helped me get to where I am today as a hobbyist.

I'm not hanging up my painting hat, but I am giving the old Imperials a bit of a rest (except for a SW commission).

Hope to see you all in the Chaos/Xenos section soon

Well I guess I am going to have to say pretty much the same as everybody else, but I also have been watching this log on and off for a fair bit and I too never realised just how big this army is!

It does look very impressive all together, you should be very proud.

It's a beautifully cohesive army, and also very original for a Krieg army, but still well within the spirit of other Krieg armies.

It's also very inspirational, 4 years of very hard, but very rewarding work.

Makes me even more determined to get at least one of my armies finished now!

And I don't normally wander into the "non-Imperial" bits of this part of the forums, but I will definitely check out your next project. :)

The force is strong with this one. . . .

DE are indeed on order, but I have a few projects in the pipeline before I get to them.

That IS an army!
Wonderful work both on fig detailing and painting.
I especially like how homogeneous it looks!
Well, well, you just have to add at last maybe 50 more infantry figs to improve the Inf/AFV balance;);)
What about a full regiment?
Don't you?

Its possible, but they aren't painted well enough to have a chance really. This has always been a gaming army first, and a display second, It just happened that I loved painting them so much a I pushed myself to try new techniques and it came off.

Glad you enjoyed you time, certainly takes a lot less time to flick through the pages then it did to paint it all :-D

And now for something completely different, I've been dragged back to the Imperial fold by GK's. I got some cheap from a mate that was getting out of the hobby, and like every other bastard I've decided the best way to run them is with a large squad of paladins.

The list will be:
Draigo
libby
10 termis
10 pladins
1 dreadknight

This is mostly a painting exercise. I might sell them soon after completion too, if any one wants to make an offer ;)

As to the painting. Heres the test.

As you can see, I have painted them in the original Index astartes scheme, basically when they were just anti psyker deathwatch. I much prefer this to the silver scheme as I think it looks alot more sinister. Can't imagine the boys in silver slaughtering the surviving population of a planet because they saw a daemon.

Anyway, C&C welcome, its good to be back Imperium!
