At what point level do you add another FOC? Or closest the the options listed

As a rule of thumb, at my club we play up to 3000 points and a single FOC is taken as a given. On the rare occasions that we go over that we'll break out a second FOC.

As it happens, we're having a christmas mega-battle tomorrow. 4000 points, two FOC's, Tau vs IMperial Guard

I can run a 4,000 point game with my Sisters of Battle no problem. Any more than that and I just run another 4,000 of Marines along side. :p

3,000, but only if they have already filled a single FOC.

if im using a second FOC its for titans. 3000 point games are the norm in my area so a single FOC can handle 3000 easy. once we hit 5-6k we move to second FOC's.

generally we say 2,500, but that also means fill the min of both

I'd go until one person's FoC is full.

Or, you know, someone shows up with a Titan. :P

Whenever it's convenient and both opponents agree - last happened at 1,500 points.

Whenever your first org is full and you still have enough points left over for another

We don't have a specific point limit - its like Gaebriel wrote ..

you dont.. you just keep going... the way i think about it is that you just keep collecting.... who cares if you ahve seven of the same troop choices.. they might be converted and stuff...

Once I have 350+ Guardsmen on the table. Noone has ever said something against it, even if it were at less than 2500 points.

our limit is at 3000pts, that's always, unless someone just want one, then he can have just one.

I usualy play with 1000 pts, but after much thought i think that IG can go to 6000 points easily and only fill one chart. (you wouldn't realise it, but the carapace armor doctorine chews up a lot of points.

My group requires the first be completely filled before you can go to a second and when you start a second the mandatory slots must be filled in the second before other options can be selected.

We don't have any pts restriction, but if you take more than 1, you have to fulfill all the min req (hq & 2 troop) for each foc, which tends to limit the usefulness in smaller games.
I've never seen anyone locally get any use out of a second at less than 2000 pts.

Comments like this make me want to play Imperial Guard. :D

Sensible enough policy.

I voted 3000 pts, because that's what seems a sensible amount to keep a battle balanced. You can fit pretty much all that you want into a 3000pt army, so I am of the opinion don't add another FOC until then.

The one exception I would note is when using superheavies. I'm not suggesting that they should be used with 2000 pt armies all the time, more that when you use one (especially a flyer) you want to play a special scenario anyway, so it's worth being a bit more loose with the points you use.

Way, way, waaaaaaay more than that without breaking sweat. :p

Personally, I say 3,500 - it's as good as any other I suppose. :)

if its one on one, its usually around 3000, though often at 2500 I'll take on 2 players who both want to use things that breaks FoC for their side, so I just play on two. Doesn't usually get me much extra, other than maybe another Heavy Choice if the have 4 or 5

by 3000pts you are likely to be left with only troops choices so it doesnt allow much variation.
