PS II one the 'boy' has works fine but I got the PC one for me in the fuehrer Bunker and it just gave me a single digit salute from the word go. I'm about as good with computers as edward scissorhands is at washing his privates so I've kind of abandonned it

Ah yes. The "make the kid do it" approach. I use that a lot with the kid I look after sometimes when I am in England so his parents get a break.

"Adam! Fix! Now!" He's a bit of a techno-genius for 14, so there's not a lot that he can't fix (or break..:rolleyes:).

The Scouts look like the will finish up nicely. The commander has great potential. and the Dk are spot on with the Grav harnesses. the walker is a little difficult to see with the low lighting but I am sure you did it up right.

Desert bases, fine sand and inkwash. drybrush snakebite leather and add fortress grey to the snkebite leather for progressive highlights - finish with Bleached bone

i do my Ultra's bases black because the model are fairly dark and i don't want a brown or green stealing my thunder.
so really it's not important for deserty elysians, but some people like brown because it makes the fg look 'finished'

I don't like light browns, the lightest I will go on a base on the sides now is Scorched Brown or equivelent :).

Elysian has just been for spraying, I'll let it dry then it can have it's touch ups :).

Thanks mate :). I tried to keep it quite simple, because I have a lot of the buggers to do :D.

All Vallejo Model Color:
Basecoat all over German Cam. Black Brown.

Green Ochre all over except for in darkest spots.

Quick highlight with Deck Tan.

Couple of washes with Brown Glaze.

And voila, one decent standard Elysian undersuit!

Anyways, a quick question for you guys that is totally unrelated to this log:

On Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, I've done something to it so that whenever you start a flight, your engines aren't started. I'm fine with starting the engines, it's just a pain, and on the bigger planes like the boeings, the throttle on my joystick only catches on one engine :mad:.

Does anyone know how to change this so that your engines are started like I used to have it? One obvious solution is to re-install it, but I don't have the CD at the moment :(. Whoever gives me a solution that works gets to pick the next thing I paint (as long as it isn't the Valkyrie ;)).

The reason I ask is that I'm trying to teach a kid to fly on it without buggering up the landing, and I want to give him a go in the bigger planes, but without the throttle working properly I can't. He's not quite up to using the individual engine throttles on the TQ yet. Plus, doing that is a pain in FS04.

it does look good, in future if you want to make it look less shiny and more like plastic after spraying, paint a thin coat of matte varnish over the GS then spray, it also helps the paint to grip,especially when vaseline is involved ;)

Yeah, sorry guys. Anyway, I've decided something. Because you guys wanted me to do that colour scheme, sometime before the thead ends I'm going to buy another Grenadier Squad, put the Chutes on them again and paint them how you want. :)

you're a pair of pro's - they look great, the Lok looks nice (must gets me one of those :D) and the vostroyans are nice, after my run-in with a vostroyan the other week i'm inclined to be less critical :p some of the sculpts are a bit off - faces especially.

Apparently is was just layered up with Scab Red, to Red Gore, To Blood Red, then a bit of Orange. Then it was given a couple of ink washes. I'll have to Dullcote it when I get some.

Yes, he does collect. He does some of my stuff that I never get round to. If you see the shots of my Cabinet, he did most of the Necrons there.


Wow, the inquisitor looks amazing, the Tau isnt bad at all either (considerably in advance of my painting skills), the Vostroyans look great as well.

The test model is looking really good so far, I'm a reallly happy chap now that you hopefully is determine tod get another squad (despite the prices!?) of Death Korps of Krieg grenadiers and give them grav-chutes, your Vostroyans should be entered into the now momentarily dormant Vostroyan thread and the Tau ethereal is even better than the Ordo Xenos inquisitor, which doesn't mean a small deal!

Yeah, I wasn't happy with the base, I've decided to redo it. I don't think the green static grass would work, and getting my hands on some of the stuff out of the hero basing kit is a nightmare! :mad:

I cannot do OSL. It's the one thing that has always been impossible for me. The visor does look a bit better IRL, it was highlighted then inked to make it shiny, but it looks a bit monotone in the pics. Sorry. :(

i dullcote last after everything, but it is up to you, and it depends on how much dullcote you use, in my eperience it seems to help the grass stand up a little better. if you use loads i would probably dullcote then grass, but with just a short burst of dullcote you should be ok :)

No problems re-interpreting the post, I know how it is sometimes. :)

The weathering was done as follows, all light drybrushes using VMC:

German Camo Black/Brown (Heavier than the rest) [Scorched Brown]
Green Ochre, very light. [Desert Yellow]
Deck Tan

I also put GW color equivelents at the side. :)

It's a bit strange, but: (All VMC)

German Camo Black/Brown
Desert Yellow
Drybrush Deck Tan
Wash very heavily a couple of times German Camo Black/Brown

Then stick on the Static Grass and done! :)

They are basically remote control demolition vehicles that have an explosive in them. They are meant to have an operator, but I don't have any bits to build one. :(

The camo will be mainly the same color as the Cyclops, but with streaks of a slightly darker brown and possibly some bits picked out in grey. :)

The Door Gunners do take a bit of work to fit, but if you get the angle right they will fit in, I checked as I was glueing it together. :)

Go for it destris I need the inspiration, I have this 'orrible feeling that this is going to be (for me) one of those intimidating figures, you know the ones, they HAVE to be painted right! the slightest flaw and the whole thing looks pants and it stays in the box for months/years in shame.

The armour recesses are all lined with Dark Green Ink, the photo just doesn't show it. Your Salamander is awesome BTW!

That is an amazingly good job for a first model! Great eye for detail, the dusting on the boots, the respirator...rebreather...thingy, the face. Even highlights on the armour! My first marines pale in comparison...and they weren't even my first models!

Just make sure to remind him not to forget plenty of flamers and the dragon motif throughout the army! And keep the elysians coming!
