What does this new plastic sprue contain? I'm tempted to start collecting a few models on the darker side of things.

I nicked this from the SG forum:

“roughly, each sprue is:

~4 character models
1 termie stand
1 berzerker stand
2 beastmen stands
2 cultist stands
2 CSM stands
1 havoc stand
1 Noise Marine stand
1 each lesser daemon unit (plaguebeareres, daemonettes, flamers, bloodthirsters, beasts/khorne hounds)
(possibly more of the basic infantry - cultist, beast, CSM)”

Best get some loyalist minis to fill out whichever army you want to make (i.e. Marines for Black Legion and IG for Lost and the Damned). I think I’m going to make me a Black Legion army :)

Are there any pictures of these sprues? I've seen a couple of the models on the SG newsletter link, but don't know whats old and whats new.

its all old, just a rerelease of the Epic 40,000 sprue, so some of the models maybe dated like the Tzeentch flamers.

An understatement. Looks like quite a major find, though I have enough Epic stuff to keep me going for a while longer (I bought too much back in 2002, I still have stuff untouched, like five sprues of IG infantry and some SM objective packs). Looks especially useful for old Chaos metal stuff...heck, they've even got Chaos Androids.

Yeah, I just wish it was in the UK. Hopefully most of that stuff is in stock, and not just taunting you. :)

I've ordered from Chaos Orc as well. Some of his prices are a bit on the high side, but sometimes the certainty of buying from him is (at least for me) preferable to the vagaries of ebay. The number that appears right after the pictur of the item tells you how many he has of the particular item. So, as long as it doesn't say 0, he has some. I'm fairly certain that he keeps it up to date. If you're looking for something specific, shoot him an email. He's pretty good about resppnding to emails.

well, the order went through fine! no problem there, got a load of squat stuff and out of date chaos and guard infantry for a LAtD army. Pretty happy with that. I definitly recomend his site.

hey

GW has pics up of what you get in the chaos infantry box
its a pretty good selection.

http://www.specialist-games.com/Newspromopage.asp

looks like you would only need to pick up 2-3 to make a decent size force.
then convert up some loyalist tanks and titans

Chaosorc really seems to be a great source, I believe you can get the plastics on ebay for cheaper when you're lucky but Really a shame they're sat in the US. Funny, I kept on hearing about this site, yet seemingly never visited it. If it was in Europe it could just lure me into playing Epic actively.

Hehe, I remember the big feature about the release of the Blood Reavers in WD back then. Fond memories..

Aye, but the weakness of the dollar means that the shipping cost should be substantially counteracted by cheap prices.

I've just ordered some Epic 40k Land Raiders. Let's see how long they take to turn up.

Waahhhh! This chaosorc site I've just been reading about doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone else had problems with it?

yankeeboy

I've been reading over the Black legion v3.7 army list. Does anyone know if the force selection limiations (0-2 for Chosen, for example) are affected by army size? In other words, as a "tournament" list, are the limitations on selections based on per 5000pts? The Adeptus Mechanicus Titan Legion list IS like this, as well as some others. It just seems odd that Raptors, Chosen, and Deathwheels would have the same limitations on them no matter what the point limit was: 3000, 5000, or even 10,000.

Any insight on this?

orangesm

The Tournament List are designed for 2700 to 3000 point games so those limitations are largely for armies of that size. It is possible to build armies that are not for Tournament play and have unique formations in them for friendly/general play.

Generally, every 5000pts is a good mark on which to change 0-1 restrictions to 0-2, etc.

yankeeboy
25-02-2007, 14:57
I'm looking to keep the list legal (as far as the downloaded lists are "legal"), but just larger. I'm aiming to build a 10,000 point daemonic legion. Maybe 5000-7500 pts of Black legion and 2500-5000 pts of Lost and the Damned.

Chaos and Evil
25-02-2007, 17:55
As I said, most people see 5000pts as the cutoff point where 0-1 restrictions are doubled.

Think of it as the game getting so large, you start a second force organizational chart.

The standard game size is 2700-3000pts after all!

yankeeboy
25-02-2007, 18:17
The "standard" size of 3000pts is way, way too small. To me, the entire point of playing Epic is to have LOTS of stuff on the board causing massive casualties. 1 to 1.5 companies of Space Marines is just too itty bitty for me. I try to play that much in 40k, let alone Epic!

Chaos and Evil
25-02-2007, 18:27
Then for friendly games, I suggest 5000pt margins for each 'chart'...

Blackrabbit33
25-02-2007, 20:33
Not long now till i can get my hands on some chaos i'm REALLY looking forward to painting these up.

The GT lists are nominally balanced for 2000-5000 points, with an emphasis on 2700-3000 because that's where most tournaments are played due to time restrictions.

If you're playing outside of that, then you're not playing a GT scenario. There's no reason that a GT list would need to address that. Only a couple do so and they are all still in development. None of the official ones do.

If you're wanting to use the GT lists outside of the 2-5K, you may find problems with balance compared to "standard" games. Things that are balanced based on the assumptions of the GT can become more or less powerful based on factors that fall outside that scope.

So, with that caveat in mind, if you intend to use a GT army list and want to simply scale it up, I'd say the easist is simply that any 0-X restrictions would increase at 5000 point increments, i.e. 0-1 Deathstrike up to 5K, 0-1 from 5K to 10K and so on. You should probably also look at other things that are fixed number rather than linked to point values and determine how you want to deal with them - Eldar Avatar, IG Commissars, Supreme Commanders for all the forces, and so on.

====

Chaosorc was having some problems. I dont' know where it stands currently. If he's still having problems there is a thread over at Tactical Command about it that probably has a current status update.
